It’s official: The Punisher is getting his own TV series.

EW has learned that Marvel has ordered a spin-off starring the viglante character introduced in Daredevil season 2.

Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as vengeful military veteran Frank Castle, who brings his own lethal form of justice to Hell’s Kitchen.

Writer and executive producer Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal, Casualty) will serve as showrunner.

Which story will they choose to adapt? Probably something from Punisher Max I would assume? Hope they go all in on this though whatever they do, keep it focused, keep it lean, and keep it mean. I don't need cameo from random Marvel folks or winks and nods to the MCU, just gimme the Punisher going after some fucked up drug lords or a pedophile ring or something. I hope so because I felt a big issue with other Marvel shows so far is they go on for too long without enough interesting material to fill a season of 13 episodes and I think it'd be hard keeping the Punisher feeling fresh for 13 episodes. Do a 6 episode run and make it dense, atmospheric and brutal instead of stretching it out and interesting a lot of annoying side characters like Jessica Jones.

The question is how long for barracuda to show up. Punisher has potential to be a great show if they keep the script lean. Most of these comic shows become a failure when they overindulge in how many plot threads and character they can fit.

Called it. Probably no Daredevil Season 3 until after Defenders. Punisher will fill in between Iron Fist and Defenders probably, because it's easier to plot Punisher around the Defender crossover. 2017 is going to be an interesting year for Marvel Netflix.
