Almost willing to bet that Ice Climbers will be in Smash NX. Let's speculate

I'd say the only way any of the third parties will be left behind is if their parent company goes completely off the deep end (ie Konami).
This. Nintendo's been pretty careful to only bring on third parties who they're buddy-buddy with. I don't think we'll have to worry much about any of the third party characters not returning in future Smash games (barring a third party publisher pulling a Konami, as you said).

Yeah, every time (pretty much sense Melee) people made those photoshopped "dream" rosters, Cloud was on every single one of them. He was considered one of those characters that was never going to happen. Hell he was basically considered as likely to make it in as Snake coming back is.

Do people actually still believe Snake will come back given Konami's shenanigans lately?

Yeah, those ole days in the past. What a nostalgia.

I don't believe that Snake would come back to Smash franchise but I gotta to keep my hope for some reason Konami and Nintendo would strike an agreement. I don't pretend to understand everything behind the scene but it don't make sense why Snake can't make his appearance in Smash Bros because Konami would actually reap some money from it and Amiibo Money.

Let Snake make it's debut in a car commercial but not in new smash bros. I guess they probably paid more than what Nintendo offered for License.

I'm kind of curious how those contracts will work in regards to a potential Smash NX. Hopefully there would be no issues re-licensing them for an upgrade.

In the ending of the last Smash direct, Sakurai made a very explicit point of wanting the 3rd parties to stay. I think, after whatever happened with Snake, they made stronger contracts this time. At least, so I hope.

Against who? I'm pretty sure that most members here want to see Snake coming back but whole situation is just shitty.
Exactly. I'd love for Snake to return. But given the current state of Konami, I've pretty much given up hope. Then again, I have no hope for any additional characters in this port, but that's just me keeping my expectations at a minimum.

Square-Enix & Nintendo's relationship started to improve since the DS days, it wasn't something that just happened in the last few months.

To be honest, whoever the Rhythm Heaven rep was supposed to be (likely the Chorus Kids) would be more likely than Geno. And even then, low-balling it would be no new characters.

Entirely disagree :v I don't think that Nintendo would launch the game with "prettier Smash 4, and nothing more." I think it's more likely that the Smash 6 development credit that emerged years back was the beginning of development was Smash NX, which if that's true, means that they've been working for years on a pretty port.

Or the Smash 6 listing was for Smash 4's DLC (which, given the timing, makes sense) & they're more-or-less sitting on the port right now as a result of the NX getting delayed (Trev's leak indicated that a Holiday 2016 launch was the original plan). Sakurai had a smaller team for DLC, one that probably wasn't big enough to juggle the 7 DLC characters & NX characters at the same time.

Of course, they'll also have new DLC characters like Shantae, Shovel Knight, and several years after the games release: Beck from Mighty No. 9. But he'll just be a Mega Man reskin.

The 3ds version holding back the Wii U version made me angry. I don't care about the 3ds fanbase at all. If the system isn't strong enough to handle the ICE then ICE the 3ds version.

Anyway, if they do port smash to the nx, I wish they would add the starfox ship stage without having stage changes. There should be an option for any stage that moves, to choose to play any of the sections statically without any movement. It would increase the number of stages and wouldn't take anything about from people who want to play a moving stage since it would still be selectable.

So I guess we're never getting playable Bayonetta huh
I did have reasonable reason to doubt her chances, even though I was more than happy with her inclusion. In fact, I'm still amazed that Sakurai got away with as much as he did.

But I still stand by my point, it'd be in our best interest to keep our expectations at a minimum. It's better to expect nothing & get hyped than to expect a lot & get disappointed.

i dont think it will add more characters, it will be just a port with all the dlc included unless they wanna sell all the dlc characters separately.

3DS version is awesome. Sorry one of the 50+ characters isn't in the game.

"I don't care for the game so it shouldn't be made"

Good to see the gaming community is as selfless as ever.

And judging by the sales, Sakurai made the right call.
Not allowing different rosters but having platform exclusive stages and modes is lame though

Why is the Wii u version stuck with that off-brand Mario Party mode? Why is Smash Run so good yet stuck on 3DS

Smash Run is still fun as hell.

I really think it's the best implementation of the Adventure concept. Which makes me feel bad that it's limited to one stage and little reason to go through it in single player. An NX version that adds more Smash Run stuff would be just as appealing to me as a new character.

We need to get the character = stock thing as a separate mode.

My mind boggles just thinking about the 65+ new stages across the 3DS/Wii U versions and 30 returning stages. I hope it happens.

I want a stage select screen that fucking intimidates you like calculus. I want it so big that your cursor just hovers over "Random" because your weak ass can't handle the thought of a Page 2 with nearly just as many selections as the first page.

I fucking love Smash Run but given *Sakurai's own reasons as to why both modes were on their respective platforms, I'm not sure if it'd be on an NX port (especially since we still don't know what it is, lol).

I mean, it could work on a console but you would need a workaround on stuff like the Powers if there isn't a touchscreen.

*I think this was originally in a Famitsu article or something but I couldn't find it.

Seriously.

Something that always really killed me about Smash Run is that you can't interact with the other players during the maze portion. Part of the fun of Air Ride's City Trial was being able to hunt down other opponents in the city.

That being said I understand why: the 3DS just wasn't strong enough to handle it. Sakurai tried to get co-op into the mode but the limitations of the 3DS prevented him from doing so.

This analogy speaks to me.

Anyway, do you guys think the last of the Amiibos will be held back for the NX port?

No way the last three characters are being reserved until next year. If the NX port has any extra characters (unlikely, though amazing as that would be), we'll see them then.

I though both the smash run and smash board modes edge terrible. Did them for the stage I think and never wanted to touch them again

Melee HD with Smash NX would be huge!

Smash NX to include Option select mode like Ultra Street Fighter 4 did.

Want your damn melee grabs? then pick marth melee mode!

Want your damn broken metaknight? Pick Brawl mode! (He would be tweaked for obvious reasons.....)

and hell if you tired of having 4 specials? Go 64 mode and go ham as God like kirby!

......im gonna have to wait for Overwatch Open Beta, so excuse my bored sanity

It bums me out that Sakurai doesn't like Melee. Like, when Capcom made 3rd Strike, they were able to rerelease it with netcode with pride. Melee HD will probably never happen as long as Sakurai keeps making Smash Bros.

I actually preferred Smash Tour. My favourite part of Smash Run was the final challenge: a short match with a random rule set. Smash Tour is just a lot of those one after the other.

Both modes are alright, but would be better with an increased number of options.

Smash Run would be better if you could set the amount of matches after the whole collecting bit. First three to win or something. That way you don't spend 5 minutes powering up for a single 1 minute match and there's less chance of getting completely screwed since there's multiple game types and not just one 'race to the finish' when you happen to be a slow character with few speed boosts.

Smash Tour would be better if you could change the rules for the final match. The games throughout are silly and fun (especially with the way you can screw over people), but since the final match is with Time rules there's no point in doing good throughout and starting the final match with the most fighters. A player with 9 fighters who loses 2 stock to a player with just a single one will still lose. Pretty lame.

Same. Much like how Third Strike was the pinnacle of Street Fighter, Melee was the pinnacle of Smash. I'd love to see Melee get the same love that Capcom gave to Third Strike, but I sadly doubt it'll ever happen.

But much like how Street Fighter V came close to Third Strike in greatness, Smash 4 came close to Melee.

If they released Melee HD it would be based on the most up to date version: The PAL version.

Sakurai giveth and then Sakurai taketh away
