Persona 5 getting an announcement on May 5, 2016

With the whole NIS/atlus, even if he us gets this One before end of year, i encouraged the mods to change my title from member to "the unbeliever" should the game manage to get in europe before the end of 2016.
You heard me neogaf mod :p

One of the lamest and weakest attempts at tag fishing I've seen on Gaming side.

From the community thread, short subtitled interview with Meguro and Lyn:

My thoughts and feelings in a nutshell:

1. Open post take a huge gasp

Finally...something.

2. Saying to myself

Here we go again...

3. Feeling the hopelessness and voidness in my heart I said (out loud)

Can't wait for the delay announcement.

4. "Please Atlus/Sega a..."

A release date is what I hope is being announced.

5. "So I can find peace the rest of the year and..."

Looking forward to finally playing this in 2017.

6. "Oh shit I forgot about NEO, fuck my life"

PSNEO launch title.

Let's do thissss~~~

7. Darkness consume me all over... Again.

Oh man, I can't wait. Hope it's going to be release date for Japan!
BTW: Can someone please post a timer for this one? I don't want to miss it :).
Thanks Morning Star!

Whoa

Cant wait to see what it is.

FFXV and P5 are both day 1 purchases for me - hopefully they are abit apart from each other :p.

What do we expect from this, realistically? What I want is:

-Japanese AND Western release date (no hope for my dear EU though, not right now)
-More meaty gameplay
-Special Edition pre-order

Hopes and dreams but no way:

-Japanese VA with English subs available
-Simultaneous release worldwide (Ha!)

This will be my first Persona game by the way.

Realistically: Japanese release date and enough gameplay to give us a feel for what's new and what's the same.

Ideally: WW release date that is still 2016.

They'll probably just announce a Persona 5 live play with no word of release as the Internet collectively jumps off a bridge.

Expectations are Japanese release date, some info on the anime, some new gameplay hopefully based on the social link area and possibly one new party member introduced. The only way Na gets a release date is if they're going for a worldwide release date. If not, then e3 or a random confirmation will be made.

What do we expect from this, realistically?

Plenty of disappointment for anyone hoping for anything regarding a western release.
Don't expect this stream/event to even pretend like this game is being released anywhere outside Japan.

Realistically, I expect :

1) ペルソナ5 PV#04
2) Release date (Japan-only)
3) SKU Information (Standard SKU, Collector SKU, etc)

Jesus... why are (some) Japanese developers so ignorant when it comes to, well, rest of the globe, don't they want money? I don't understand such mentality.

- Trailer with release date. I'm expecting it to release September 1st. This would be a perfect position between Tales of Berseria (August 18th) and FFXV (September 30th).

- Limited edition PS4

- Limited edition version of the game for PS4/3

- 10-15m gameplay demo

- Live performance of a new song

- Video message from Hashino

Given the disconnect of the nature of how the Persona franchise is established globally, it makes sense to split up the messaging.

Japanese audience are exposed to the Persona franchise as a multimedia property with figurines, anime, movies, concerts, games and many more. Furthermore, the core Persona development team are not English-literate, so there's a huge communication barrier. Even Square Enix of all publishers struggle with this and they are far larger than Atlus.

On the other hand, Persona is just a gaming franchise with minor anime offshoots in the rest of the world.

So, it makes sense that Atlus Japan communicates with "Japanese market" whereas Atlus USA communicates with the "US and related" markets, so to speak.

The problem stems from the nature of the relationship between these partners, where this is true even for many other publishers.

The balance of relationship always lean in favour of the branch that develops the game. This is not uncommon for many Japanese games, where we don't get localised trailers day-and-date. There's always some lag in the marketing and messaging compared to the Japanese information.

A lot of times, we just don't care.

But for Persona, because it's such a desired title, people are paying attention to this "disconnect."

Well previously Atlus was a small company so they couldn't do such a thing. Your beef however should be aimed at sega.

I'm hoping for a world wide release at the lease. Isn't Sega going to publish this game? What year was it announcrd? Those couple of years of none news or push backs needs to account for something more in my book.

Nope, Sega isn't publishing it (fact check pls?) and the announcement was way back in 2013. That something would be the PS4 version and, at least I believe, something that we're not privy to that occurred during development.

SEGA is publishing this game, but as far as we know, SEGA is keeping a hands-off approach with Atlus, and that Atlus by and large operates the same way they always did.

Furthermore, if I were to look at the track record of SEGA's localisation of Japanese games, I'd be more concerned than hopeful.

I understand sega is poor with localising their games but how are they for their bigger properties.

I'm a optimist. So I'm thinking Atlus understands that Persona 5 would be bigger in the west than in Japan so they took this extra time to work on a world wide release.

Guy above you said Sega wasn't publishing this game. I'm so confused.

All Sega needs to do is publish it where Atlus tells them to Publish it. They don't need to be involved in the development in this game. I know Atlus can Publish in Japan and here in America without a problem but wouldn'tthey need Sega for EU? The EU is the only reason I brought up Sega to begin with to support my World Wide release way of thinking.

I'm not entirely sure about that now.

Edit: There it is
