Just to make it absolutely clear, I'm talking about this bet:

So I think Persona 5 will get delayed. Not a large one mind you, but a delay definitely seems to be in cards at this point. Shortly after summer is my estimate and i'm willing to avatar bet on it.

For those who want to participate, the rules are simple. If P5 is released in Japan at any point in the summer, I lose. If it's released at any point after summer, then I win. Summer starts on Monday, June 20 and ends on Wednesday, September 21.

The winner chooses the losers avatar for an entire month.

So who wants in on this action.

I'd buy both day one, take them home, and set them up in a creepy little jrpg shrine next to my TV. I'd play XV first though -- although I'm in some ways more confident in the experience P5 will provide, nothing can touch my XV hype (Blood and Wine is in the same ballpark though).

More generally, as others have suggested, it probably wouldn't pay off for P5 to go head to head with XV.

It left my soul in summer of 2015. When Atlus said emphatically and repeatedly that P5 was going to be in our hands last year.

Haha! A JRPG shrine with Star Ocean 5, I am Setsuna, FFXV and P5, lol.

Even tho I am not taking part in this bet, I am on TeamDelay for Persona 5. Probably a Nov-Dec release.

You got it, those would be in there too! And definitely Ni No Kuni 2 and Nier 2, and maybe World of FF and DQ11 for good measure. Now I'm seriously considering building this thing.

As for release date, I'll be surprised (happily) if we get P5 in the West before Winter, though I have no sense when it will come out in Japan.
 
I hope we get some new music out of the event. I really dig what I've heard so far but I need a new P5 track to listen to while waiting for the game to come out.

I too will be unsurprised when a Japanese event streamed on NicoNico with no subs will not have an American release date.

It's a Japan-centric event, what would make you think that there'd be information regarding an international release date? If there was anything relating to audiences outside Japan, you'd have heard about it from Atlus USA by now.

You don't see how a known JP date would be better than the nothing we have now? Today there is absolutely nothing in regards to when it will release elsewhere, tomorrow, we at least will make some reasonable guesses.

Relax... This is a Japanese event for a company that is mainly focused in Japan. Sure, Persona is on the rise around the world but Atlus is not Square and they are not there yet as a company. When Persona starts selling 10 million units then you can start expecting worldwide events.

Fall 2016 in Japan.

Fall 2017 in NA.

Fall 2018 in Europe.

I'd wait for a western launch. I have liked their dubs for the most part, and I have plenty of games to hold me over until it launches. Trying to avoid spoilers/gameplay videos might be the hard part.

At this point, considering how long we've been told the game was basically feature complete and was just being polished (or something along those lines) by Hashino, I'd expect a Winter 2016-Spring 2017 NA release.

However, I wouldn't put terrible odds against a 2-3 month window for NA release a la SMTIV.

Ah, well. Looking forward to the insanity that will likely comprise the stream tomorrow.
