Persona 5 getting an announcement on May 5, 2016

We need a countdown clock in the OP. The website one's useless to anyone outside of Japan's timezone.

So whats the general feeling for tomorrow?
Just a JP release date and no international information or US release date as well?
(EU maybe..................... lol off c not I know that, EU prop not before 2017).

Actually getting really excited for this. I had some spare vacation hours laying around and I took a couple of hours off work tomorrow morning just so I could see the event live.

We can almost guarantee it will be a Japanese release date, at the very least right?

If there is a NA release date was well that would be fantastic, hopefully this year. If not, Spring 2017 would be cool also.

This along with FFXV, Uncharted 4, The Last Guardian, Nier: Automata, 2016 is looking like an incredible year especially if it manages to come out.

I was really hoping this year would be the gaming year for me. Zero time dilemma, dark souls3, nier automata, persona 5, ffxv and previously Zelda wii u made this year nearly match 1998 in terms of must buy games for me.

Spring 2017 would not be cool. Not cool at all. They have the resources of Sega now; it should not take them a year to localize the game.

Sega exists in a vacuum. Atlus cannot even guarantee European releases despite Sega's infrastructure.

Sega's publishing capacity in Europe starts and ends with Steam (And other digital storefronts). Anything physical has been farmed out to Deep Silver for years now.

I've been thinking about this for a while but A PS4 P5 bundle really should be made and would help the PS4 sales in Japan at least.
Kinda surprised they kept ps3, had they gone for primarly PS4 only for this game it would've been a good sales boost for the PS4 too in Japan.

Either way looking forward to seeing some new footage of the game
and the 2017 release date :V

It's 2016, not 2008. This game should not take five months after Japan gets it to reach NA like Persona 4 did back in 2008. That five month wait was brutal back then.

Localization takes time, doesn't always start right away (not likely to be a problem here), and companies may want to find what they consider an ideal time to release as well. Atlus is localizing #FE for Nintendo and even that, without a dub, will be released by Nintendo 6 months later.

I will make a last minute prediction of simultaneous release in na and japan at least. Probably Europe as well but I will play it safe with that and say just America and Japan for now

You believe that the game is being localized at the same time as it is being developed?

Europe too?! Does Persona get Multi-5? If so, not a chance.

I'm most likely going to complete my first Persona game tomorrow (4) so the timing is perfect. I buy most of my stuff from the US PSN store anyway so even if we get shafted with the release date in Europe it's all good.... unless America gets it like 8 months after as well.

Dark Souls 3 was about two weeks!

Not a dialogue-heavy game. Not going to go into the "not an RPG" argument, but there are always exceptions with games that were localized in production, like Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean 4. Hell, even Star Ocean 5 will only be 3 months.

That's not the norm, not from Atlus or Bamco.

I know, I know. I'm praying for a localization in production scenario happening here though.

I can maybe see them going for Q1 2017 if they think launching too close to FFXV might hurt them, but that's unlikely. I don't see the localization taking them that long- considering they were saying it was going to make 2015 in the US in mid-late 2015, I'd imagine they had some (maybe most?) of the localization work done back then.

I really don't care about release date, I just hope they abandoned PS3 version and used all that time to improve PS4 version.

Dark Souls 3 was about two weeks!

Pretty sure they are made in English ever since Demon's Souls, but don't quote me on that. Like, you could import Demon's Souls from China and have English text in it, IIRC. Again, It's been a while, they may have changed things, haven't been keeping up with it honestly.

Also, it's not like that game is super text/dialogue heavy in comparison to something like Final Fantasy or Persona.

Why? It's not like cancelling the PS3 version will somehow magically make the PS4 version better. Come on man.

Also, there are TONS of PS3s out there I'm sure someone will buy. I mean the game was fucking made on PS3s, just super late, so the jump to PS4 was almost a last minute decision.

fairly sure you're right. At least I'm pretty sure the Japanese dark souls 3 still had English voice over. Voice over work tends to be one of the longer parts of the process as well, I believe.

SO guys. Hype meter in check and all that. What we realistically expecting? A bit of new footage along with a release date? Maybe CE info?

Localization of a big RPG takes time, and the release date for NA is going to depend 100% on when the JP dev team is *ready* for the NA team to get cracking.

They may not want the NA team to waste time on a script still being revised, they may want to wait until they're ready to field technical questions from the NA team, they may want to wait until the code itself is no longer in flux and the interface is set in stone so the NA team knows what their character limits are...

Work on the English version of the game is absolutely going to start before the JP release. There are any number of factors that could push the start date forward or back, however, and we likely won't be privy to them. Don't be surprised if there's a 5-6 month delay between the JP and international release - that just means the work needed to make the game *good* is going in.

They should not have chosen the day the review embargo for uncharted ends. To spot on gaming sites will be taken. Would have been main news any other day.
Maybe it's bad news so they want to get overshadowed...

Oh, I won't be if we indeed have a near half year wait for the English localized version to come out again. Disappointed but not surprised. And that means I'll double dip and import the Japanese release first. I won't have the patience to wait (and it'll be very hard to stay away from P5 related anything online in the interim between).

JPN release date, new trailer, and probably CE info.

This is an event for Japan and had to have been planned for awhile due to them "taking over" Tokyo tower. I doubt they give a damn or even know about the Uncharted embargo.
