I'll be going to this. Just got the email.

Who are the business partners that the email refers to? Developers or journalists?

And they want to sell 800K Wiiu's in their last forecast?

Yeah. Good luck with that. Im sure retailers are just falling over themselves dedicating time/space/money to a deader than dead platform with nothing for the remainder of the year.

uh, 800k is too low if anything...

I'm honestly fine with Zelda being the focus of E3 because I love Zelda. I just hate that the Wii u version is getting bumped to 2017 just because of nx. Pisses me off because I'm sick of waiting for it and makes me feel like they have no faith in nx to succeed on its own. Also makes me think they don't have another killer ap to launch with. Like, you wouldn't really need to launch with Zelda if you had a Mario 64 caliber launch title.

Maybe I'm over thinking it. Oh well, at least I'll finally get to fucking see Zelda!

This all makes me think that something really bad went down with the development of the NX, obviously showing only Zelda could not be their original plan. I think they were originally going to unveil the NX at or during E3 but something forced them to change their plans.

I hope the reason was seeing how Sony is aiming for a longer than usual generation thanks to incremental upgrades with ps4k. That would have forced Nintendo to make a more future proof machine, thus more powerful.

Or perhaps they've been interested in VR and decided to make some tweaks to have their own VR solution. A detachable screen you can either attach to a gamepad or a headset, depending on the game you're playing, for example, that'd be neat!

An entire day of just Zelda? Are they gonna beat the game?

More likely they're going to show off some of the options the player will have, like what you can do while riding the horse, while in combat, etc., or some of the places you can go. I expect a lot of talk from the actual developers about depth and immersion they've added to the experience, kind of like what we got from The Game Awards footage (things like the horse not running into trees, apples falling from the trees, etc.).

There isn't anything like a Splatoon or a Mario Maker (or even a Xenoblade X) coming out this year. It's going to be very tough to crack those those numbers without a major holiday title.

Well, they're not. Especially considering there's not many wii u's being manufactured or shipped to retailers. As things wind down. See Japan. But if things were "normal" then it'd be too low.

How embarrassing is it for a company like Nintendo to come to E3 and only show 1 game. Regardless of the circumstances of the NX coming. That's quite abysmal.

Am i missing something? Where does it say there is no direct?
Nintendo is pretty much required to have a direct to inform us of whatever game(s) they have for fall/winter.

Well guys, I think we all remember that we didn't like how short the VGX video was and those 12 secs during a Nintendo Direct, well now we're getting tons of Zelda footage, a days worth. Kinda. Let's be happy. I really expect that game to blow us all away, it has to.

Not to mention, if they do indeed show off the NX in the fall, then you might as well stick a fork in the Wii U. No one is going to buy soon-to-be obsolete hardware this holiday when they know its successor is around the corner.

Paper Mario and that FE game that didn't even sell well in Japan isn't going to change that.

With a small price drop and attractivw bunflw they could sell a million more

Every desirable Wii U game has already been bundled with the system. They even did a two-game bundle with that Smash/Splatoon set. How much more attractive can you make it? Three games? Four?

I'm sure Zelda will blow our socks off but I'm also sure that the reason why they are just going to show that is not because "game's so good that we don't need anything else". It's pretty normal to feel worried about Nintendo at this moment, something went wrong here.

I think this is a natural response to the fan reaction to last year's direct. Probably better to not have one than have a thinner direct than last year.

So Nintendo is basically not attending E3, but wants to keep their floor space for next year just in case. That's fine, but I wish these announcements came with a a date for when we WILL hear news about the NX. At the very least, a confirmation there will be a lengthy reveal presentation. sometimes, you just need to hear the words.

You guys calm down. It's just the year of Waluigi. It's just that Waluigi has no games to show off.
The E3 Zelda Treehouse stream starts up, and everyone waits with baited breath as a beautiful orchestrated remix of the familiar Zelda theme begins playing...

And then a record scratch.

"Too bad. Waluigi time!"

Bold prediction: I predict that Xseed will have more new (to the West) demos for Vita exclusives than Nintendo will have demos period.

It seems obvious that Nintendo originally planned E3 to be the NX's reveal until they decided to change the release date. All that show floor space and the way they've structured their recent E3s with a big live event, then the Digital Show, then 3 days of Treehouse Live streams would have worked perfectly to reveal and demo a new generation of Nintendo hardware and software. Instead we are getting what looks like a hugely scaled back E3 and have to wait even longer for the NX which will now launch before ever having a presence at E3 which just seems like a missed opportunity.

How is this even going to work. They are not going to spoil a huge portion of a game that doesn't even release for almost a year. Even if they demo a whole dungeon, how many people are going to want to tune in and be spoiled? This is just an odd turn of events. They'd be better off just going crazy promoting Splatoon by hosting live events and tournaments.

It's implied because the Treehouse live event starts at the time they'd normally have their press conference or Digital Event.

Previously we just knew Zelda was the only game on the E3 show floor. This didn't rule out a direct showing off other games.

Now we know there is nothing besides watching Zelda treehouse.

Okay. Makes sense. Glad I misunderstood from the get go. This stings way less. Pretty sucky all around. Not sure what Nintendo is thinking. This just doesn't spark confidence. Love the company but they are really fumbling around these last few years. It better be one hell of a show when they do their NX direct.

Thanks Toxi.

It should come with both a conference and floor presence at Gamescom, which would also come with a huge hands-on experience for consumers still in summer. Most likely not gonna happen though. Look forward to some dire Direct video in the midst of VR/Neo marketing close to launch (i.e. reaching no one but fanboys again).

No offense, but you fall into the "overvaluing" category. Realistically, if they can't reach more than their own fanbase with a direct the same would go for any sort of conference. People watch things that they're interested in, and ignore what they're not interested in. Nothing changes that. I've also never seen anything to support the claim that their directs have less reach or media coverage than conferences would.

That said, I don't think that they'll just announce it in a Direct (and it won't be "dire" either way). They aren't as stupid as they seem. They know that impressions are needed, so the chance that they'll launch it before giving anyone the opportunity to try it is zero.

Nintendo confirmed they aren't showing 3DS anything at E3?

Not really.

Nothing else but Zelda Wii U is playable on the show floor....

...but we don't yet know if more 3DS/Wii U software will be shown during Treehouse LIVE on days 2 and 3 (if indeed there is a Treehouse LIVE on days 2 and 3. There usually is but we've not had confirmation) .All we know for sure is Treehouse Live is on day 1 and is wholly focused on Zelda.

Are you sure what to keep hope alive?

I know man, I was being sarcastic about it. Don't get me wrong I can't wait to finally see some real gameplay, but it was a damn given this would be at E3. I worry about Nintendo as well. It's a strange situation.

I wouldn't count on it happening, but it's not entirely out of the question. Not to mention they still have a full month where they can change their mind. Treehouse can do whatever it wants and can change plans whenever it wants. They surely can't change their mind on making a quick direct or changing anything on the showfloor, but if they want to feature 3DS games on days 2 and 3 there's nothing to stop them from doing so.

Again, wouldn't count on it, but it's not impossible either.

They only said Zelda would be the only playable game. Not that it would be the only game?

The exact quote is that the live stream will be dedicated to the legend of zelda, read of that what you will.
