Its a Battlefield game of course we know what the game play will be like.
Lol, do you honestly think playing a modern or WW1 BF game won't feel or play differently? If that's what you're arguing, why would someone care if it's WW1 or not?

Feels like you're being purposely obtuse for the sake of argument.

The US definitely teaches more WWII than WWI. Hitler, concentration camps, and the Nazis are far more discussed than any of WWI.
I'm a Junior in High School, and I live in the U.S., and I have no clue what you are talking about.
Freshman Year (World History): Talked about WWI for 2 weeks, got a test on it and talked a lot about post-WWI concepts (League of Nations). Spent 4-5 days on WWII, hardly covered it.
Junior Year (AP US History): Talked about WWI for at least 3 weeks, had 2 quizzes and a test on it, then spent another week on post-WWI crap (Article X, league of nations again, Isolationist nature of US, Great Depression). Spent at most 2 weeks on WWII. Had one quiz and a test.

Maybe elementary/middle school teaches more WWII than I, but I can tell you right now that in High School nowadays that is total bullshit.

What if you can dig your own trenches and set up your own barricades and barbed wire and stuff? That would be an incredible use of destruction tech. "Emergent Levelution."

Well that escalated quickly.

I responded based on what you posted just now. Why skip it when you don't know what the game is yet?

I wasn't making any joke, merely laughing at the absurdity of skipping something without knowing what it actually is.
I apologize for the expression I used. But I felt like you were implying that just because I didn't know the details how could I say what I did when you can comb through this thread and find a lot of people not interested in it from what they know or think they know so far from the leaks and not get bomb rushed for there opinion and I don't know about anyone else but "lol" standd for laughing out loud or laugh out loud and I don't recall saying anything funny in my original post.So like I pointed out I've post other times in this thread and basically said why I felt the way I did but some reason my opinion is silly.

Can't wait for biplanes

Which is a shame because its far superior to BF4

Uh

No

......

It's a more competent game than some give it credit for, but it's way smaller scale and set in an environment that doesn't really work for BF gameplay. Regular city cops with military-grade weapons fighting wars in city streets? Nah.

I'm also very excited to see how the game will perform on a current gen only development, Battlefield 4 suffered due to the 360 and PS3 versions
You're not kidding... really hamstrung our efforts with Premium. I'm so hyped to see what the STHLM crew does with this setting!

Really quickly guys, the livestream in the youtube link is what I want to be watching, rightr? The premiere hasn't hit yet for the new Battlefield right?

They must have confused "high school" with "Hollywood"

It took Dan Carlin 20+ hours to cover the Great War. Yeah, it definitely takes a long time to explore

Exactly and think of a normal history high school history class. They don't have the kind of time to cover it in that depth. If I remember right my school had a 20th century american history class (your best bet) and a World history class (lol good luck). There's no way you can spend the amount of time required to cover WWI in any meaningful way when you also have to cover the interwar period, WW2, and Cold War. All of which affected America in more obvious ways. So you just get students the core of it: System of alliances, trenches, gas, mud, America's here, treaty sucks. Okay time to move on class.

That's why nobody knows anything about WWI in my opinion. Just a simple matter of time.

It's also less "sexy".

I'll be up for an alternate timeline around WW1/WW2

Could different outcomes influenced different weaponary, or gave birth to weapons we didn't have till many years later.

just give me my horse machine gun

I'm going to assume this is a joke but, every Dice game since Bad Company 1 (except for Mirror's Edge 2008) has used the Frostbite engine, which is also what Battlefront runs on as well.
I was more wondering about that photo something technique they used sorry for not being clear what I meant.

While I can bring up a number of examples they can use, it was also rumored that DICE were going to be using prototype weapons in the game in order to add a bit more variety.

Don't worry, though. There were quite a few assault rifles, sub-machine guns and light machine guns being used in that era. Many were used for indirect fire, but that's not going to stop us from going out there guns blazing.

So somewhat of a similar approach Treyarch took for Black Ops, but instead of putting Modern Wafare into a Cold War setting (gunplay wise), they'll put WWII into WWI.

Don't forget Europe. Battlefield sells very well over here.

WW1 is a hot topic and well known here in Belgium but also in France and especially the United Kingdom.

Hope it uses the same engine as Battlefront
All EA studios use Frostbite, the same engine in Battlefront.

The exciting part is, this is from the studio who actually made the engine itself and this franchise is their flagship. That means this is the first time we will see the team behind the engine showing their prime series in current gen only glory.

So what's the likelihood that Dice treats this conflict with the respect and nuance it deserves and not just make a set piece mindless shooter?

Like this has to be first big budget big franchise game set in WWI in years? Ever?

Makes me even more excited to see what they've done.
