Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

Rowlet can attack without making a sound! It flies silently through the skies, drawing near to its opponent without being noticed, and then lashing out with powerful kicks. It can also attack from a distance using the razor-sharp leaves that form part of its feathers.
Reading this makes him seem like a badass but then you look at him and he's the cutest thing ever.
Also
It has a habit of turning its head in battle to face its Trainer and receive instructions.

All these years later and they still continue with Chinese Zodiac Fire starters and Amphibious Water starters

They gave up their "reptile/amphibian" Grass starter pattern with Gen VI and Gen VII seems to have continued to ignore it. So I guess Grass really doesn't have a pattern.
Didn't they break the zodiac pattern way back when with Typhlosion?

Not sure if there's a water pattern either, "able to swim" doesn't really seem special haha

We're totally getting a well-dressed assassin.

It's all really going to be down to final forms. As long as we don't have another gen 5 situation, which was the first gen I never let my starter go to final form, and I just abandoned them most of the time for another pokemon in the wild.

Uhhhhhhhhh you know you can transfer all your other Bank Pokemon to SM too...

While I don't agree with the speculation on why it would be, the ability to move all Pokemon to Gen VII doesn't mean it wouldn't be a one-way thing.

Moving a Gen VI compatible Pokemon to Gen VII could convert it, making it become incompatible. And moving up a VC Pokemon would skip Gen VI compatibility, going straight to Gen VII data structure.

Those starters look cool except the seal. Don't like that one

Grass and Flying is crazy.

My favourite is the fire cat..

Not really, unless you're super picky with Cyndaquil not being a true mouse, even if the game calls it a mouse and it's "close enough"

The Water starters are consistently amphibious animals. Turtle, Crocodile, Salamander, Penguin, Otter, Frog, Sea Lion. That's different than just making them fish or purely water living animals.

I know this is a joke post

Hoppip, Skiploom and Jumpluff

Huh. For some reason I thought they were pure grass.

I really thought we weren't going to do the grass fire water bullshit again. Twenty years later and literally nothing has changed from game layout perspective. What the hell.

Why would it be?

Last gen was wacky. The triangle worked both ways, no final form had a true type advantage over either other final form.

Gen IV was weird too, as Empoleon was weak to both second types of the other two, but neutral to both of their base types.

>Keeping traditional grass, fire, water starters
>That means the entire game hasn't evolved since 1996

Can you even imagine if Nintendo was like

"We're proud to announce that we've heard your complaints, and we've completely switched up the Pokémon formula!

Yes, that's right. You can now pick an electric type for your starter!"

They will always do Grass/Fire/Water. It's perhaps the most blatantly obvious way to explain type advantages, one of the core tenants of the game.

I was on board for picking Rowlet as my starter because THAT BOWTIE, but that grass/flying type is a very weak combination. Litten looks like he'll eventually evolve into a Fire/Dark type, so I may go in that direction.

Ok, so I got some theories concerning the professor. It looks like the guy towards the beginning of the trailer is the professor and also some relative of the protagonist. There was a bit of dialogue where he welcomed the protagonist and then called them cousin (not sure if actually related, though). But the thing is that the professor isn't the one to give you your starter, it's the big mustached dude in the first village. I think the professor looking guy is actually more of a professor in training and the mustache guy is more of a village elder who gives you your Pokemon. Would be pretty neat if true.

Startert looks Great.
The two legendary, eeeeeeeeeh not really...

I Like the graphics and ambientation, though too much similar to X/Y.

Overall, Great trailer. 7/10.

First impression is good, now i Wanna see more.

I don't get the hate for the starters. They look great. Especially Litten. Sadly, I have always been #TeamGrass ever since Bulbasaur so for traditions sake I shall be going with Rowlett.

He better turn into one badass tootsie pop killing mofo

Pokemon we need

  • A dolphin
  • A mosquito
  • A pineapple
  • An earthworm
  • A stegosaurus
  • A mantis shrimp/stomatopod
  • A kiwi (both the bird and the fruit)
  • A virus
  • A cassowary
  • A more traditional kangaroo
  • An oppossum
  • Bigfoot
  • A lion fish
  • A daddy-long legs/harvestman/opilion
  • A vinegaroon
  • Fifty more spiders, including a Water type diving bell spider, a Flying-type jumping spider with a parachute, a Fighting-type bolas spider, a Ground-type trapdoor spider, a pink Fairy-type crab spider with floral patterns, and a Fire-type golden wheel spider that constantly rolls around.
Please Game Freak.

Just realized how Rowlets face is shaped like the inside of an apple with it beak being the pip. I love how much effort and subtlety goes in to Pokemon designs.

I actually don't dislike any of these. I like them.

I'm just afraid that their evolutions are going to be lame, humanoid-like creatures. Ugh.

Settled on #TeamPopplio- Rowlet is a perfect little cinnamon roll, but the BF claimed it at the speed of light, and Popplio's animations and that cute art have sealed the deal.

Definitely the most consistent starter designs since Gen III, if not since the originals. No Fennekin, Tepig or Piplup dragging the average down this time.

The location is so beautiful. It's like, perfect for the game.

Starter designs are so ugly these days, but how can I not like the seal/puppy thing?

I'm only really digging the Owl right now, but all I'm gonna care about in the end are the final evolutions, so the starter designs really don't matter.

Legendaries look fine as well.

Seals are my favorite animals but I don't like water starters. Decisions.

I do like water starters a lot (well, Pokemon Blue was my first game, and there I used to choose Squirtle), but since Popplio seems to me the least cool of the three (still liked it though) and since I have already chosen Mudkip in ORAS, I may go with Litten this one.

The hard question by now is... Sun or Moon? T-T

>Keeping traditional grass, fire, water starters

Did I I say the entire game? I put in over 300 hours into X/Y I know how the series plays.

You can explain type changes other ways. You guys are really limiting your imagination if you feel tradition is the only way kids can pick up on understanding how types work. It worked in Yellow.

Why would it be?

you got ensnared by the fire type zodiac shitposting snare

the only legitimate zodiac there are Infernape and Blaziken

Typhlosion isn't a rat at all. The "fire mouse" is a lousy translation of what Japan likes to refer to anything "mouse-like" even though it isn't, so it was taken in literally. Notice the improved translation from RS to DP, especially on Pokemon species (no more Shellfish Pokemon Blastoise).

Delphox isn't a dog or canine. Foxes aren't canine. While they share the same family as with dogs, they are distinct on their own line (a fox and a dog are both canids, but only the dog is canine while the fox is vulpine).

Charizard isn't a dragon, it's a lizard with wings. :P And no don't give me that "it's dragon egg" group, all Pokemon reptiles (even Arbok and Seviper) are considered dragons.
