Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

Think Rowlet might be my favorite, and even though Litten feels to have a weaker design I'll probably start with him since cats are cool. Popplio seems pretty charismatic too.

LOVE the lion legendary. I only wish it was a moon lion as I'll likely get Moon. The bat is pretty cool too though

Popplio looks so good man, and his name is so fun to say. Popplio. The dude just makes me happy, the lovable thing I just wanna hug him.

What's the opinions on the legendaries? Both look cool as fuck imo. I honestly think Sun looks better but I'll probably go with Moon because it looks pretty unique and I've always gone for the blue Pokemon games.

I really like them both. I like the Moon cover legendary a bit more so that's the version I'm going with.

They're both real strong but I'm leaning heavily toward the bat. It looks so cool. I noticed also that the stars dangling on the inside of its wings seem to transform a bit when it does its "full moon"-type attack in the trailer.

I sorta like both, though Moon's dumb fang/snaggle tooth really bothers me.

personally I think Solgaleo is much cooler. Lions are awesome and I just love it's color scheme and design. Lunaala is still cool, but it looks a bit more off to me

I don't understand how the circus theming is related to a tropical setting.

Circus theme is conjecture at this point, if not entirely unfounded. Have the starters EVER followed a theme like that, though? Seal will probably go full Ringmaster (which I'm fine with) but firecat will either go badass flaming panther or Fire/Fighting bipedal cat (because Pokemon) and who knows where that adorable owl will end up. Stage 1 will inevitably look like Blathers, though.

I keep going back and forth. I usually always go for the lighter cover, and lions are my favourite animal irl, but the moon legendary is really enticing. I'm interested in its lore and how it'll be incorporated into my own journey.

Actually, I think I've just officially talked myself into making Moon my day one/main copy.

Left one has more charm tho. They jumped the Call of Duty shark with the realistic graphics on the right
I can agree with that. I like the chibi style way more. A shame its likely gone for good. I do like that trainers are in battles now tho.

And character customization! Thank fuck the most important thing returned. Holy hell GF had me worried there. Now...let me take off the hat...

Was going for Moon since I like nightime better, but this confirms it. Legendary is so damn cool!

As for starters: I quite like them all! Not sure who I'll pick. I don't think Litten quite matches up so it'll either be grass or water one. Not sure yet.

Well...this is it. I got custom characters, starters, and legendaries. I will not look at any single new thing. Noone better spoil stuff in future thread titles. For once, I will go in mainly near blind. Will not even look at final starter evos and take my chances.

Some say the theme behind the XY starters was the RPG class archetypes, thief (Froakie), mage (Fennekin), and warrior (Chespin)

X/Y had a sort of RPG thing going for it with it's starters.

Knight, Mage, and Rouge

Owl is the one who'd go full ringmaster, seal is clearly a clown. As for themes, unova had cultural theme (japanese, western, Chinese) and kalos had an rpg theme

Heh, interesting. You don't really see it until their final evolutions, though - I guess that's the difference.

I'd say that theme became obvious after the first evolution. Braixen using the stick as a wand, frogs diet was clearly a ninja, and quilladin included paladin as part of it's name

Due to the Sun legendary looking cooler, I believe I will once again be going for the "first" version a la Red, Gold, Diamond, etc. Only time I ever got the second version was Sapphire.

Moon Bat is a great design, lion is just kind of whatever.

Glad people are enjoying the legendaries, that's one thing they've always got right. Dialga and Palkia are my least favorite cover Pokemon to date and even those two are interesting enough.

Anyone notice how both the legendaries this time around seem to have some sort of.. I don't know...space stuff on their cranium? Like stars or some thing.

I'm defo going Moon, looks really nice but you can't go wrong either way.

The real question is what's happening with that Floette. Nothing, I'm assuming. Which is weird.

As i said, unova had a cultural theme with a japanese (Samurott) Chinese (emboar) and western (serperior)

Sorry, I must have missed that! And yeah, they definitely have cultural themes, although I suppose you could argue Serperior to be French themed specifically.

I sort of wanted to argue Gen IV's have a myth theme, which makes sense considering Sinnoh as a whole.

Infernape is Hanuman, Torterra the World Turtle and Empoleon would be Poseidon because of the trident motif.

That said Empoleon is way more of a Napoleon so it doesn't fit entirely, I know.

A damn fine point, especially re: Quilladin, which I apparently managed to overlook until this very moment. If such a theme were to be a thing then sure, Grass Owl has ringmaster on lock.

the sun and the moon are in space

Proof please.

But seriously, I thought that it might be something akin to the primal markings on Kyogre and Groudon that links them together but I guess both being things in space is enough of a link if anything :P

Plus, the mane on Solgaleo and the crest on Lunaala surrounding the 'space' is a cool touch.
