Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

...

ok, soccergod.

Lay out your logic, step by step, and then think really hard about whether it contains any flaws.

Here's a hint: Looking at pure percentages means nothing without real world context.

And a second hint, since you need one: the turn-based system is not the only possible explanation for why the sales "declined". Consider some alternatives.

Turn-based systems being a "dead genre" is a made up statement in the same way AAA devs decided one days that the survival horror genre was dead and were shocked when indie devs filled in the hole and actually sold well.

Persona 5 has turn-based combat, but I'm sure it's just because Atlus is hipster and appealing to a minority instead of deciding that that was the best way to impliment their mechanics.

Pokemon will always be turn-based because the roster of moves and monsters is way too huge. No way they can pull that off in a true action game.

Even though my brothers and I are grown up now and no longer live together, I still want us to all pick different starters, lol.

I texted my middle brother and showed him the new starters and saw which one he picked. It was Rowlet. So far, so good. Now for the youngest brother to pick Litten so I can have Popplio...

Although to be honest, I love all three of them. Like I said earlier, I wish I could start with all three!

I'm equally excited about the Alola region. I'm getting great Mario Sunshine vibes from the place. :-)

Ignoring soccergod for a while here. To all you guys, seeing that we are not getting Z here, what do you think GF will do to add in Zygarde here? Or it is going to forgotten totally here?TT

Except the fact that turn based RPGs is backed by an entire generation of sales data on consoles/handhelds/PCs?

Except the fact the the the vast majority of the changes that most people are arguing for are COMPLETELY behind the hood aside from prettier visuals and a few multi battles that a majority wont even know exist? Lets go do a poll of mid school kids about what all the stats mean and how the impact the moves. Lets ask them all if they know how a Sp. Attk stat affects only one ability out of a list of 20 and see how many of them get it right.

Gee, I guess Pokemon isn't consistently a best seller, Bravely Default didn't exceed expectations, Persona 5 isn't highly anticipated at all, SMT4 wasn't a hit, no one liked XCOM 2, turn-based games don't make enough money to continue to be pumped out on the Vita, DQ games are being localized for absolutely no reason. Nope, genre's dead folks, let's pack it all up.

I'd guarantee you that the kids who played Pokemon would answer correctly, and the ones who didn't wouldn't (because why the hell would ANYONE who didn't already play these games know?)

It's unlikely they went through the trouble of designing multiple new forms to then just forget about them =p

The vita doesnt even make enough money for sony to care about it, bad choice of arguments

Doesn't Zygarde get a ton of crazy new forms in the anime? Those would likely be made available somewhere in Gen 7, right?

Just gonna say I always knew it was not going to be Pokemon Z, but rather a new gen.

Also I don't know what Zygarde is since I gave on X/Y and went back to Emerald.

except it isnt because unless you actually actively research the change, you wouldnt even know it existed.

oh my what difficult research, i'd have to open the pokemon menu to do this to hard :<<<<

Casual player here:

Turn based battles are great. Why would you want to get rid of one of the better battle systems found in RPGs?

I'd like them to bring back BW's system of having only new Pokémon available from the start. Made discovering new creatures more enjoyable when you knew every encounter would be new 'mon.

Did Sony make the only games worth playing on the Vita? No? Do several indie and Japanese devs not continue to develop and localize games for it? Oh wait they do? Oh yeah, because that was clearly the point I was making.

I really hope that we will get some good Zygarde quest here.TT i really like its Cell perfect form style lol.

Kalos Post Game will be absolutely great.^~^

In the games too, they just haven't been implemented yet. They're based on Loki's 3 sons, they'll probably be in Gen 7,

Wait wait loki 3 sons? You mean 2 sons and 1 daughter right?

The wolf, the snake and the girl right? Unless you count slepneir here.

Z Episode is my theory. That seems to be the direction they're wanting post-game now

What can we expect from Corocoro that leaks this week? Legendary typings or just the starters?

Seeing how Episode Delta was a nice add to the games, I expect them to make something for the SM post-game too.

Short visit to some Kalos zone/s just for the episode?

I'm surprised some of you are still arguing with a wall.

Probably because nobody replying has literally a single fucking legitimate argument. All thats being spouted is "but i loves my pokemons dont say it hasnt changed in 20 years it hasssss i promissseeeee" when in reality it hasn't. And that is a simple fact that even the vast majority of fans will admit to.

Ask someone who has absolutely no experience playing the games to play gen i and then gen VI. Not a single one of them who doesnt spend a significant amount of time in the menus will know a damn thing about the stat changes because they DO NOT impact the way the game is played in a significant fashion unless you actually care about min/maxing when the majority of players dont.

The fact of the matter is the playerbase on these boards, is a minority. A very hardcore minority who care about every facet of the game when the majority dont. That is true of any forum/board like this, the population is in fact, a vocal minority.

I think it's pretty much a given that the new Zygarde formes will be in the game. How big of a focus they end up being send up the air though, most likely post game stuff.

I was really impressed with how much art we got today. It definitely helped me warm up to the starters quicker, since I was a bit hesitant at first.

People have already made plushs too:

Good lord, the speed people crank out art and such of new Pokemon fucking amazes me, it hasn't even been a full day yet.

I knew, as a 7 year old, how special and physical types worked with stats. And I knew when that shit changed. Pokemon is an RPG. Stats matter in RPGs. Completely changing how those stats factor into the battle system is pretty damn big.

If a game lets you have your Warrior, with super low INT, cast spells, they're likely gonna be garbage compared to a Mage doing it. It doesn't take a genius to realize this, and it does have an effect even outside of multiplayer.

Is there a legit reason why you came in here antagonizing pokemon fans who are excited over new pokemon though?

I agree that maybe the games could use a change, like giving pokemon the ability to use more than four moves because some pokemon desperately need that and I think it would make for some interesting battles, but I know GF will not change that and I can accept that.

And we haven't yet gotten a single compelling argument from your side why it absolutely MUST change. "Don't fix what ain't broke" stands strong for the casual side of the games.

Please fix the competitive side though game freak, pretty please.

lol you guys
Be nice :P

It's all in good fun =p

It'll just be this info. We got it because they didn't want the first look the world has of the game to be blurry photos of a magazine. They know it happens.

Considering how many people use the internet these days, I'd say checking populated internet forums is a decent way of gauging general reaction to the direction a game series is going. Now if we want to talk about a flatlining series, there's Metroid.

errr yeah sorry, brainfart. Hel was a girl, right.

Hehe no prob. But where did you get this link here? I always thought Zygarde is more or less Cell type of Pokemon lol.

Z Episode is my theory. That seems to be the direction they're wanting post-game now

Hope it will be more epic here.^~^ really wanted to see Zygarde wreck havoc here.

But i do hope we will have more post content here even though, i don't really know what can be added more here TT

Oh yeah, Red&Blue are absolutely the same as AS&OR, how could I've been so blind! It's literally the same!

Pack it up boys! Sell your 3DS'es and get your Gameboy, because we've been playing the exact same game over and over again. All differences and new additions have been purely imaginary and never existed.

stop being so full of shit

=( 12 years and still waiting for another real Metroid game...

I think "Lapsed fans, what game play changes or new features would make you buy Pokemon S&M if you weren't going to already"

Should be spun off into a separate thread, if those who already have their preorders placed can avoid repeating "they aren't going to do that and the games sell well" too much for every idea.

I wonder how CoroCoro feels about not having the scoop anymore. It looks like TPCi will be doing monthly reveals before CoroCoro releases going forward.

My girlfriend is the definition of casual and her first game was X. She picked up on the special/physical sit immediately and what difference special attack and normal attack have. You're literally wrong. It's okay if you want to think pokemon hasn't changed. You can think whatever you want dude, there are people who think the earth is flat.
That doesn't make you right.

There is nothing to support that assertion at this time.

CoroCoro also never had "the scoop". The information always came the day, or the day before, CoroCoro's official release. It only seems like CoroCoro "has the scoop" because people get the magazine a couple of days early

Alola being islands (as far as we know), maybe in the post-game we go to the Hoenn new battle resort that was being built in ORAS (Just to the resort, not the entire region).

I'd guess that the moon legendary will be Fairy/Dark. Fairy has a major damaging move called moonblast and moonlight was also retyped as Fairy. The games seem to make an association between that typing and the moon. I'd guess Dark just because of the Legendary's color scheme and the fact that the moon comes out at night.

The Sun legenday would logically be Fire/(Something).

Light type? (nah, what am i thinking). Ice could be resistant to it (the light just goes through ice or reflects)
