Gran Turismo Sport Unveiling live stream discussion (incl. FIA Championship gameplay)

Because GT sells better than every other racing game combined? That's what Sony cares about, once GT stops being one of the biggest gaming brands in the world, they might do something, they don't care about the people complaining on the internet.

Although my complaint is the lack of standard cars, I don't want this premium only shit, standards was what was unique about GT. I also feel like the "Pokemon" aspect of GT is what makes so big.

Combined? Come off it, perhaps in its lifetime but not at this point, I'm sure. If by standard cars, you mean starting off in little second hand shit boxes? Yeah that's part of the lure of it with me too (along with the licenses). But even that's not enough to overlook now. Not with this offering in 2016.

Is this your toilet discourse way of saying you disagree?

Standard cars are in no way or form a thing that is acceptable in a 2016. The thought alone of seeing these cars in VR. Yuck. So yeah fuck no. Put those standard cars where they belong. In the trash.

Let's not remake history , when driveclub was in a playble state at events , it was already way beyond what was showed here.
People here can't see the leap in generation from GT6 to GT sports , it's that simple.
The leap they're trying to make is in the spectator and competition stuff, which is, mind you, not a thing anyone was asking for. Completely tone deaf. It was far more entertaining than I was expecting, but not a thing there was much demand for. We were all expecting a graphics and sound overhaul and it's just... not really there. So much detail and various effects missing while other stuff is amazing. No consistency.

Assetto Corsa is out in August and has a chance to humiliate GT if it can't pull itself together. Sony, get your shit in order. You cannot release this in that state. You made fools of yourself already with GT6 and you can't afford that again.

Is Yoshida creaming money off the top of Polyphony's budget, and that's why he's allowed this charade to continue for years?

It needs ending.

Where's the Q&A on the Isle of Man and bikes?

Did one of those university students that they rope in on the weekend do this model? Disgusting.

It's a blurry 720P stream. Direct footage probably looks way cleaner. Visually speaking it looks pretty good right now I think though I've only seen replay footage. No clue how it looks in-game.

it's not just the graphics ,it's the sound design, the lack of effects and so on.

Yeah yeah i know it's supposed 50% complete only. i'm just unsure why that 50% build was unveiled to the world in such an event.

There is a massive work they need to do. The need to improve the lightning , the effects , the SOUNDS ( oh god the sounds ).

I just find it weird that a car is spining on the grass and the grass stay the same i can't recall seeing any tire tracks at all.
And this has nothing to do with a "blurry 720p stream"

Still far from what i was expecting but still...

That's just mind-boggling to me... fans wait years for a new GT in the new console generation. You tease the world reveal and build it up with live streams, tournaments and all that stuff.

But then you go ahead and show this awful trailer that is the first thing most people saw from the game.... but you actually have better material to show.

jeez.. I'm repeating myself...just can't unterstand it.

Yeah i know ... It's just stupid.

Well, I'm reserving judgement for the moment, but from what I've seen, I'm certainly not wowed. Livery editor is a plus, though.

By the way, is there a video that gives a decent indication about the [seemingly poor] quality of the sounds? I haven't really been watching the stream.

The hyperbole in this thread is amazing, but yes everything related to audio is still shit, collision physics are also unchanged, also no tire tracks? whats up with that?

And that replay footage of the 'Ring in the trailer is no doubt an old build, on the championship finals, the vegetation was very different

Sure, it happens. But still, it's a videogame and the ramifications are not the same.

EDIT:

You know, some people will see that as a passive aggressive smiley. I heard emoticons are more accepted.
Oh it wasn't meant to be. It was just what I immediately thought of as well when reading the comment. All of the top champions had a ruthless streak to them. MSC as well.

Yeah I'm not expecting that most of it is from the spectator mode. But if they didn't improve the physics significantly I don't see a reason to get it and it would probably fall right into the window where I will buy a PS4 /Neo. It really seems extremely disappointing and the graphics are the least of it.

Yep. Graphics is actually the one area where PD didn't need to make massive improvements for the GT franchise to move forward. There are a few issues that have plagued the series since the PS1 era, and even more from PS2, and a depressing amount that we are still seeing since GT5. I don't see a single thing revealed today that put them ahead of any of the competition. This is an embarrassing showing for them. I wanted to see some bold moves in Sport that indicated GT7 was going to be a new direction for them. I wasn't expecting much from today's stream, but I feel like the chances of a revolutionary GT game are done. Kaz has lost the plot completely.

Those physics in collisions are just not acceptable, and it doesn't work for their idea to have these competitions broadcast. Every time the cars bumped into things the stream looked awkward as hell, it is just so disappointing.

They backlog of old cars is the main differentiator of gt for me. While updates of those cars would be preferable to recycled low-poly ones, their total absence is the worst outcome.

Using the gring was stupid as shit. They should have done 8 laps at The Cirque De La Sarthe. You know, where there are less blocking opportunities. I get why people adore the gring. It's an extremely difficult and technical track. It's not one of my favorites though.

Strange, there's was an advert in my post before this edit.

Damn this thread reminds me of the Drive Club thread. People mocked the unfinished product saying they wouldn't not hit the reveal and saying Forza, Need For Speed, ect.. looked better and with each iteration of build it got better. I don't understand how someone who has watched the dev cycle play out over the years and proclaim an unfinished product....
Because history is the greatest indicator and promises and placeholders is what they said prior to gt5 and gt6 and nothinget changed.

At the beginning its always hectic but once the cars get spread out the racing is amazing. I do agree, its hard to overtake cleanly.

This was really the worst. It's fine for gt to play like that when it's going in the old automotive-museum-fantasy-glam direction but trying to pass it off as some kind of fia-recognized hardcore esport with racing like this is backwards.

I'm just amused that these are some of the top GT racers but they were trying to do 10 tenths laps one after the other for 8 laps around the ring. The risk factor is just too high and it came off looking very amateurish in the end

Any mention of dynamic ToD, weather, AI improvements, audio improvements etc?

I heard something about an AI setting I think that "if you can beat it you can go against real people" but I can't remember exactly the context. Audio you should really listen yourself, it is a thing of beauty. Can't remember anything about ToD or weather.

This is the problem with trying to push to competitive aspect of the game. There is no implementation of tire management, track condition or any other strategic considerations of circuit driving.

Remember how the improved sounds were going to be patched in to GT6? Remember how GT5 sounds were actually super good if you set some of the audio settings just right? Remember how sounds were going to be improved from Prologue to GT5? Remember how they were going to completely overhaul the sounds between GT4 and GT5?

Picking up a pattern here? Vacuums are here to stay. I expect GT7 to be no different. It extends far beyond just the engine noises. No GT game has ever had an even remotely accurate transmission modeled in both physics and sound. They all sound the same cause they all rev and shift the same.

Edit: They need to just straight up copy iRacing driver safety rating. Any serious online racing sim needs something like that. Slapping an FIA badge on your game does fuck all. Would love to see some other devs try to improve it, but it works damn well in iRacing.

Can't wait to put turbo on all cars and make them all sound the same.

I'm doing "a little" hyperbole on purpose... but is this looking worse than GT6?

I like the idea of a mandatory driver safety course/certification you have to take before doing ranked online races (sort of like a tutorial), and reckless driving gets that taken away, so you'd need to do it again before jumping back online.

All of that is there. Problem is these guys are fastest in time trials and for some reason left their driving etiquette at numerous points.

and what loose the entirety of the causal fanbase?

The game might end up being fine but this footage is not selling it at all. It makes what evolution did with Driveclub look even better. That game is just frantic as fuck.

Yeah, but this trailer and live streaming session just goes to show you that they aren't serious about racing. As they never were, actually. GT games are about car collecting and the car culture by itself, racing is a extra.

GT is fading slowly to me, like a very great memory from my childhood. Now it's just something that losts completely its way. Maybe I'll still buy it later on for taking shots of cars - I really enjoy photo mode and fiddling with my pics later on Photoshop - but that's about it.

Gran Turismo isn't a serious racing game anymore. No racing sim would put fake and ludicrous non-existant cars against real ones to race each other with fake start procedures and whatnot. And when you look at the real cars they put on track in this demo you'd see that they are from different specifications and years. It's depressing for a motorsport enthusiast.

I'm sure that GT Sport, and even a GT 7, will find a lot of space out there thanks to its name alone, the legacy, the fan base - even if this fan base is dying. But for me, that's it.
