I saw people talking about how Sony premiered 3 first party IP's in 2015 and 2014, but in '14 was even more.

They officially announced LBP3, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Ratchet & Clank PS4, Bloodborne, inFamous First Light and Entwined, which also was released that day (I actually expect to see Pixelopus new game there) in the 2014 keynote

So who knows how many they will show this time
Seriously though, I don't want them to open with Crash. It'd be like sitting down to have a three course meal and gorging on dessert first thing. Something that big of a deal, you need to ease into it. Especially if Sony owns the IP now and they've got a good developer working on it.

Same, end with the biggest bang.

Yes, my thoughts exactly.

Same, end with the biggest bang.

Under normal circumstances I'd agree, but this thing has been teased and rumoured so much that if they wait to the end to confirm it I think they'd be in danger of it completely overshadowing the entire conference while it's happening. Every new game will be met with 'is this Crash, please tell me its Crash, it's not, fuck you Sony, just give us Crash already', meaning every game starts off with a negative first impression just for not being Crash.

Lord have mercy on them if there is no Crash at all.

They should've ended psx right after ni no kuni lol ending with paragon was eh.

I think now it's pretty obvious that PSX was supposed to end with the Kojima announcement, but Konami spoiled that. NnK2 would've been an ideal ender for what they had left, but I understand Paragon given the genre and because Epic is involved.

I argued with someone in the EZA thread about something similar, but outside of the 'but muh conference hype' stuff, stuff like the time given to Destiny, CoD or Paragon is probably the most sensible thing Sony can do, in a backdoor shady deals way. Given how widespread UE4 is in the industry (ironically especially amongst Japanese developers) the engines creators making their Moba a console exclusive to their platform is a bigger deal than I think a lot of people are giving Sony credit for.

I hope we get a release date for Dragon Quest Heroes 2 and Builders. If they are out this year Square Enix will see a lot of money from me.

Yeah, having Epic making an exclusive is a huge deal. I know many groan because it's a MOBA, but you've really got to look at the developer. Games like NnK2 still got a ton of attention, and Adam's comment before the trailer did a great job of showing respect to L5's work on the original

On the topic of show openers and closers, here's what Sony's has looked like in the past

2013: Opener - Vita/PS3 content | Closer - PS4 price announcement
2012: Opener - Beyond | Closer - The Last of Us
2011: Opener - Uncharted 3 | Closer - Vita price announcement
2010: Opener - Killzone 3 | Closer - Twisted Metal
2009: Opener - Uncharted 2 | Closer - God of War 3

Yeah its interesting how the reception of the paragon reveal was shaped by genre of the game.

People didn't come away from that saying, holy crap Epic, makers of Gears of War did a betraylthon and are now releasing a console exclusive on sonys platform.

It was "i cant believe they ended the show with that moba stuff, WTf was that"

They should close with Horizon, another gameplay demo, showing cities and NPCs, then a fight with that birdbot which ends all the way over at that mountain over there, that you can totally go to, then an Oct 2016 release date, with Andrew House jumping down into the audience and personally punching anybody who thought it was delayed to 2017 in the face.

Just realised that E3 happens during my late shift week which means I can watch everything live here in good ol' EU.

Can't wait!

I totally imagined Andrew shouting ''Twenty Sixteeeeeeen'' while doing the jumping punch Nate does in Uncharted 4

Thank you

Reckon they will close with Horzion: Zero Dawn (or the new God of war). Opening I don't really know maybe Titanfall 2 or Crash Reboot.

There were a lot of people convinced the game was dead. When it suddenly became apparent that it was very much alive, I guess some of those naysayers felt compelled to undermine the game by saying it looked dated. I for one was incredibly glad that it still beared all the visual hallmarks of that astonishing trailer from '09. The one thing I was really worried about if the game returned was that it would be unrecognisable, but that wasn't the case.

It's a gorgeous game. It's obviously not a powerhouse of graphical fidelity like Uncharted 4, but it's beautiful in its own way, and complimented majorly by the Team ICO art style. Trico's animation is a highlight of that trailer..

Yeah, I think TLG looks gorgeous.

This gives me the idea that they'll open with something big and end with something big. If GoW4 is in this conference, they won't shove it in the middle, and same thing with Crash. They'll have either or at beginning and end.

House calling out Shinobi would be epic :lol

But with Uncharted 4 out, they're probably gonna close with God of War. It's pretty obvious at this point.

TLG's actually very polygon-rich.

Team ICO's style of rich geometric detail, low-contrast stone textures and repeating patterns is reminiscent of games that played to PS2's hardware strengths and weaknesses, but I don't think it looks dated at all.

I wonder if they can get this to run at 60fps on the PS4 Neo.

I'm kind of annoyed at the probability that they won't mention it at all at E3. :|

I guess if you put it that way then maybe starting the show with Crash wouldn't be a bad idea.

I suppose they can open the show with it how Shawn Layden did with the Crash shirt at PSX 2015.

Man...I'm very hype for Horizon, this game could be big for Sony.

The announcement may wasn't a boom, but the game's actually pretty fun, and it's doing cross-platform play almost seamlessly.

Shenmue III's producer, Cedric Biscay, May 12th: "Nothing is planned for Shenmue 3 [at E3] to date"

Source.

Take that as you will.

I didn't expect any Shenmue III at E3 this year, but the timing of that tweet featuring Yu, Gio and Adam is very curious indeed.

Maybe they're finalising plans on how they're going to announce the HD collection at the presser?
