Gran Turismo Sport Unveiling live stream discussion (incl. FIA Championship gameplay)

I reckon PD know this game is less for the casual fanbase. The official wheel is thought to be very high end which is sad because I wanted something like the DFGT for PS4.

How much do you see PD realistically adding in barely 6 months time?

We haven't even seen entirely what the game offers. Furthermore the builds shown may not be the most up to date.

There are T300/T150 models, which are also PS4 official wheels and will probably get GT-branded at some point now that game is officially revealed.

I agree about the high-end model, still trying to get additional info, but it seems we'll have to wait until E3.

Looks to be direct drive, so I'm pretty interested in hearing more. If it's an affordable DD wheel then it could be massive.

New video is really good. quality isn't great, but that lighting! :O

What people know? Game will be updated regulary and who know what will be in updates. So much about legit criticism. LOL!

"The game will have several weather conditions and light conditions, but those will be announced at a later date. But during gameplay conditions will not change." People are not guessing but rephrasing what was officially said. But perhaps they also add space ships and rock'n'roll music, who knows what will be in updates.

That lighting is ridiculous.

it truly is.

one of my favorite all-time gaming experiences was driving around the nurgburgring in gt5 with dynamic time changes while listening to some classic music.

this could've been even more impressive.

they've taken that away from me.

What I've really wanted for a while is for you to be able to replicate what it's like to drive round the Nurburgring in real life.

Dynamic time/weather progression and circa 50 AI cars of all different classes just driving round. As in, you don't race round it, you just go for a drive round it in your car of choice like you would on an open track day.

I guess that's out.

I'm trying to think of if any game HAS ever done this. I imagine you could fake it in rFactor, allow any car for the AI regardless of your own class, set it to max opponents and just play on a long practice session so everyone starts at different times and they're judged on their lap time as opposed to position.

GT still has the best looking cars and lighting engine. But their track details are so bad, the grass and trees ugh....

It seems a lot of the stuff we see is early or from various builds. I would not judge that stuff just yet based on side by side pictures earlier in this thread. But I agree that some builds are terrible in that aspect.

I don't understand what's going on in this picture : is the road texture badly registered ?
From the GIF above doesn't seem that there is that much of an elevation to justify the sudden change in the borders but maybe is just an optical illusion? If isn't so, this build must be the result of a fast assembling that I believed until now.

That's kinda how Carousel looks

Affordable direct drive......is such a thing possible. Like for £300?

No way, only the industral-spec motor probably cost more.

If 700-800€ it would be a dream come true price.

Wow this game is a mess. Not even Amar could defend this.

I am getting older, I stopped caring about defending anything years ago.

I am old geezer now, capable only of cirticism, reliving past moments of glory and hoping one day Kazunori will understand what GT lost during its travelling towards universal acceptability, especially of SCEA producers.

That looks a lot like Snape and Dumbledore.
Or maybe my sugar is just crashing and I need food lol

EDIT: So that's from a silent movie?
Edit2: LOL ignore my post I was just a bit loopy

The new garage looks pretty sleek and awesome. I'm not much into taking photos, so I'm hoping next trailer they won't spend so much time on the photos part.

3 years after GT6, we have a new GT:
1. Without true career mode
2. 1/3 of GT6's premium models
3. Presumably without old/classic cars
3. Without dynamic weather
4. Without day/night cycle
Thank you PD!

Honestly, 3 and 4 are true and a real letdown, but the rest I'm not really sure I care so much about.

For example, 1/3 of GT6s premium models. It's not like a game needs 500 cars to be good. It doesn't. As long as the driving model feels good and there's actual difference between how each model drives, I'm ok with that (so long as there are good cars in the list, obviously, which we know it does).

The career mode hasn't been clarified yet, has it?

Weren't the GT5 and GT6 premium models designed with next-gen in mind? I swear that I remember it being some kind of PR bulletpoint in the past.

Although I personally have zero problem with them dumping non-premium cars.

While I'd be gladly proved wrong, I'm quite sure it isn't DD.

1) The motor appears to be offset (near the mesh opening on the side).
2) The quick release appears to be the same as the current models to make it compatible with the T-series add ons. This plastic connection (and the existing rims) aren't strong enough for DD.
3) DD is overkill for the vast majority of people. If you want to enjoy the benefits of DD, you need to bolt it to a dedicated rig, and use pedals of similar strength to correlate. This will always be expensive - heavy-duty mechanical components don't come down in price without economies of scale, and high-end racing setups will never reach the kind of demand where production costs see a significant drop.

I expect the new wheel to go up against Fanatec hardware in terms of performance.

Yep PD said the premiums were future proofed.

I'm glad I realized this years ago. If you want proper, full featured, sim racing you build a PC. iRacing/AC/pCARS/R3E/DiRT Rally and soon Forza is all anyone needs. Now you may say 4 of those 6 titles are/will be on consoles. However, those titles are far superior and more complete on the PC. Not to mention you can use any FFB wheel.

At this points you can't put all your sim racing chips on GT.

Agreed, GT was my life as a kid/teen but as soon as I played GTR2 after playing GT4 for ages I realised there were far more realistic experiences over on PC..But GT and Forza still had their appeal due to the amount of cars, upgrade options and career progression. Now with GT Sport i'm struggling to think of why I'd buy this when I own so many brilliant PC sims. Maybe they'll surprise me!

Yeh it's probably too much of an ask but after doing more searching I found this!:

I think I'm going to mess around with it tomorrow and see what it's like. It's a shame we can't have something like this in GT or Forza because the variety of cars that you could have on the track would be amazing.

It's just an illusion bro.

£700 would be a great price.
If they'll sell just the base, for ~750€ or a whole package for ~850€, I'll have to sell my T500 with 2 wheel add-ons.

Then only Microsoft needs to add support for non-xbox licensed wheels to PC Forza and I can sell my TX too.

I'm more hyped for the GTS wheel than for GTS ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(still assuming it's direct drive, fingers crossed)

Oh, GT. I was almost on board with you again, but of course I was assuming that what we keeping features we already had. No time progression is extremely cruel.

Remember how we thought GT5 was leaned out and delayed a bit more to try to push 3D? I get the feeling that the same thing is happening here to make it work for VR. Which is great for the VR, but makes the product underwhelming compared to what you think it'd be capable of.

Can't wait for GT..8? Just 4 years to go! Usually it's the odd numbers that make the feature leaps and even numbers for raw amount of content, but that seems flipped that now.

Trust me if you waited for GT5 you will buy GTS day one ;)

That video is awesome.

So Kaz is going to the 24 hour race this weekend but his upcoming game won't have dynamic time/weather?

El oh el.

I'm starting to get that feeling that how's as good a time as any to start using my block list... There are opinions and then there is blind fanboyism.

If you say so, block it. Not being a fanboy, I just prefer how it drives even though I haven't played pc, not saying I can't like that game as I have no idea.

you are being overly dramatic and sillly just cause I am ok to play GT tghe way it is and just cause i don't care about the features as much as you do. That is such a big deal to you? this is a game man, a video game. I guess I shouldn't like it cause why?

How many games I like that have 3 to 4 cars, no options other than pure racing and I love those games from burnout to crusin, hydro thunder and gt will be sure to have much more than those games. I think you are the one that simply doesn't get it and throwing out crap that doesn't need to be said. I play hundreds, thousands of games, this little petty shit ain't going to stop me from playing gt.

If there is no dynamic time of day, i hope we get prebaked (or otherwise rendered) shadows, hate the flickering mess that is still present in all these GTS videos.

What the hell is the big deal with dynamic time of day? It's a nice feature to have, but to not buy the game based on that?

Everything else we've seen has been looking better every time and it's still not a full-blown GT7. I can't imagine everything they can add to the game without worrying about dynamic time-of-day (better AA and more consistent shadows, for example) not being worth the elimination of dynamic time-of-day.

It's also just not a feature that really matters outside of 24-hour races... but do we even have confirmation that the game won't at least go day to night and back to day in a 24-hour race? I bet that's at least still in there.

they must not play most games or racing games for that matter

the time of day will look better in the gif than I ever take time to care about it. if its there that's fine, but sometimes I just rather it stay the time I chose in DC, anyways, either or is fine for me
