Trump v. Bernie Debate

Its basically going to be 2 hours of two people shitting on Hillary. Bernie is actively trying to lose the general election for the democrats now. He wants to punish america for not excepting his shit revolution.

How in the hell can anyone still defend him at this point?
Because they're convinced this is going to be about Sanders spreading his "message" instead of a desperate bid for attention any way he can get it and taking any chance he can to sling insults at Hillary and the DNC.

Really going to be curious if Hillary reluctantly decides to participate herself at this point, since she can't be happy about the stunt Sanders is pulling here and though she won't want to play ball and had no reason to get involved up to now, with Trump getting in there, I really don't think she has any option but to accept now since it will just be two hours of the two of them just dumping everything they have on her otherwise.

Then again, I suppose she could risk it and just let the people see for themselves how both Trump and Sanders are people who will do anything for attention, but I'm not sure she really wants to risk it.

Seriously, what the hell Sanders, what the hell... I know he has nothing to really lose at this point and no reason not to pull a stunt like this and has much more to gain by going along with something like this, but still... What a circus...

I wouldn't use those exact words myself, but Bernie is doing nothing but giving fodder to the GOP in the name of egotism. He's so desperate for anybody to pay attention to him that he's willing to drive the Democrats into chaos just so he can wring out a few more $27s from his ever-dwindling number of supporters.

to be fair - he added more context to his after i made my post.

even explaining it before hand, without editing, would have been better than driving by just to call him a cunt

Wow. You're delusional.

debating someone with proceeds going to charity makes you an asswipe i guess

proceeds are going to charity. i don't understand why a single person would not want this to happen if money is going to a good cause?
I don't even understand. What money? Are the two of them betting on the debate or something?

Trump will just spend an hour talking about how great Bernie is and how much he agrees with everything he's saying.

Because it's another media circus and diversion for Trump. He knows the media eats this stuff up and wastes time on silly things like this that will never happen.

It's just another one of his antics that dominates the news cycle for a week instead of any of focusing on his actual "policies". And Bernie is falling for it.

It's not going to happen. Bernie can't take part in unsanctioned debates while running in the Democratic primary. Unless he actually wants the DSCC to really show him what putting a finger on the scale looks like, and he wants to fade into obscurity this won't happen. Trump and Bernie will bitch about it for a few days, then Trump will cite scheduling conflicts. It was a throw away answer on late night TV.

Who said it is gonna be official or an actual debate in an capacity. Unless they aren't allowed to pull a tv show debate officially classified as a pop charity or comedy stunt, what is the problem?

Good, it can give Bernie a platform to call out Trump publically in ways others haven't, and directly to his face. I could really see Bernie getting under Trumps skin early on

Plus he can try to break down the image of trump as a 'man of the people'

Except if Bernie can prove to his followers that Trump is not the answer when he, inevitably, drops out.
Exactly.

A smart move by Trump, for certain. Sanders takes the bait and now we get a few days/news cycles of Democrats looking stupid.

If Sanders were to drop out of the race I wonder if he'd be able to do it then.

The mental gymnastics many have undergone to make themselves believe Hillary is a good person and the right person to be President...

It's not exactly a logic you can reason with...

Sorry for thinking the person with decades of varied public service and almost three million more votes than her closest competitor should be the candidate.

To say nothing of comparing her to Trump.

Except if Bernie can prove to his followers that Trump is not the answer when he, inevitably, drops out.

That's a good point! I feel like there are more effective ways to do that than something like this, but sure!

Are Sander supporters ACTUALLY trying to justify this? My god.. you people have actually lost it.

Some us don't want just any Democrat though, some of us want Bernie.

The majority of Democrats don't. He lost (actually, he got his ass kicked in proportional representation terms), and these kinds of desperation tactics make him look even more sad and pathetic than he already is. Won't stop his supporters from tossing their $27s at him though.

MAKE IT HAPPEN.

I would pay money to see this thing, if not for anything but entertainment. Trump against any Democrat would be fun admittedly, but I feel like Hillary vs. Trump is going to be mundane because they have too much dirt on each other.... Bernie on the other hand has no fucks to give. I would love to see what they have to say3about each other in a debate, and see Bernie's arguments against Trump's insults.

It's for fucking charity, dude.

Please? Like Trump's last charity event?
It isn't for charity. It's for ego, and Trump's presidency is gonna hurt more people than the money raised will help. If Bernie wants to do a charity event he can do a charity event any goddamn time he wants. This is politics hiding behind charity which is both typical and tasteless.

Bernie knows this and doesn't care anymore. He's actively trying to sabotage Hillary at this point. What a piece a shit Bernie is revealing himself to be.
As if Bernie is not going to go full out against Trump like he's wanted to do for months.

Trump might be taking softer side towards him, but that's going to change nothing for Bernie. This will be much for Trump than for Hillary.

Trumps gonna win. This is out of his playbook. He's going to play up his independent nature and try to make appeals to Bernie's demos. This exposure will be another opportunity for him to attack Hillary and try to appeal to the anti-establishment vote. Bernie wins nothing because he has already lost the nomination.

If Trump announces Sanders to be his VP during the debate I'll probably have a baby right there on the spot, and I'm a guy.

Yup.

He's already taken bernies 'side' in things, as in saying that he's being screwed over by the establishment and that he's a good guy.

Trump will do a 360 and agree with Bernie on things, and will do the full swing to center.

Where the money goes has nothing to do with how pointless and bizarre this whole thing is.

It's like a Battle of the Bands between Metallica and that guy down the street who kinda knows how to play guitar and drives a rusted out '92 Mustang. Only one of those two belongs on that stage, and it's frankly embarrassing for the other to even show up.

Nah just observing.

Can't say I'm thrilled about any candidates.

It is absolutely fascinating though to watch and see self-proclaimed liberals/progressives acting like Republicans this election season in how they defend their shitty candidate.

Crazy that I can go from excited to vote for Bernie in February to completely disillusioned with him in just three months. Voting needs an undo feature.

That's a good point! I feel like there are more effective ways to do that than something like this, but sure!

I know, right? I mean, Bernie should have dropped out by now, and it's kind of a farce that he hasn't, but if a leading Democratic nominee gets to bring up points directly to a Republican nominee, especially a Dem that is crucial to Hillary's eventual presidential run, they should take it.

Plus, it's for charity.

I mean, I wouldn't go that far about Sanders supporting a Hillary pile-on, I'd just call it ill-advised and sad.

Bernie will say the same shit he has said in every debate since the start and Trump will continue to pretend to agree with him in order to damage Hilary. He's been doing it for a while now. I don't know why either would stop their song and dance. This is just Trump locking in Bernie supporters who are voting in their first election.

Bernie's recent turn is really so depressing. He really seemed like a once in a lifetime candidate for awhile there.
