Trump v. Bernie Debate

I'm showing how Trump beat three different people with ease and can do so again with Bernie.

That's if he doesn't decide to play nice and act centrist like he did in that one debate.

yeah three different wacko republicans trying their best to out wacko each other during a republican primary. sorry that comparison is awful. Bernie ain't Rubio, Bernie ain't Cruz, and he for damn sure ain't Jeb freaking Bush. c'monson.gif

I'm confused by the "perfect ticket" comments and the early post about watching a debate between the two people that person would vote for president.

The two are nothing alike. Doesn't make sense. Have folks equated the two? Ted Cruz and Trump are more alike. If one likes Bernie, would seem logical they would gravitate to the next liberal candidate that could win rather than a hyper conservative.

I'm confused..

Imagine an arena full of pro wrestling fans at a WWE event. Then imagine them all talking about politics like it's a wrestling story arc, and discard the characters' actual politics in favor of simply perceiving them as reality TV characters defined solely by their personality traits and who their rivals are.

This is where that kind of stuff (Trump/Sanders debate, Sanders as Trump's VP) is coming from.

El oh el.

TYT would be such bad hosts. Also is this a fan fiction from r/bernieforpresident? I don't see the need to give Jill or Gary a platform.

I would encourage you to invite all national candidates including me & @GovGaryJohnson, @cenkuygur. @BernieSanders @realDonaldTrump

Man talk about inviting yourself to the party

Debate?

There shouldn't even be a v. in this thread title, this is going to be two guys shooting Hillary in a barrel for an hour. Great choice by Trump.

Bernie of course will soak it up because it's become clear in the past couple of months that this is his last rodeo and he's somehow concluded that going all out even if that means fracturing the Democratic party's base is the best way he can serve the little guy. I'm trying to decide if he's just one of those one-note ivory tower politicians who can no longer see the forest for the trees, or if he's actually the Joker.

I don't see any scenario where the end result of this debate (if it happens) isn't a net positive for Trump.

Trump wants Bernie supporters to vote for him and Bernie wants more exposure so that he can get maximum delegates from the June 7th primaries. If the debate ever happens and I hope it does because it will be entertaining as hell, I'm not sure how it will benefit either candidates. Bernie is not going to be the nominee and I don't think Trump is capable of a sensible policy oriented discussion. I think ultimately it's just pointless, more so for Trump. I could be wrong though, and that makes me want to see this debate even more.

Also Sanders will not be Trump's or Hillary's VP jesus come on guys.

So when Trump throws his trademark meme riffing insults and slurs, repeating them loudly to the whooping applause of the hysterical crowd, Bernie will be able to keep up and sling back just as viciously?

Not buying it.

There's too many way's Trump can play this to come out looking good.

Oh god not TYT please don't ruin this dream.

The question of the day would be this.

What was worse: the TYT debate between Sanders, Trump, and Friends, or the three hour "debate" they produced with Sam Harris that was nothing but headbutting and nonsense?

I will say he doesn't seem to be the principled honest candidate that he first set out to be when the primaries just started.

Here’s the transcript of the Debate in advance:

Bernie: I will break up banks! Wall Street is corrupt!
Trump: Excuse me, but the whole system is corrupt!

Audience: applauds

Bernie: I will make tuition and healthcare free!
Trump: You will rise taxes, taxes will rise tremendously under you Bernie.

Audience: buuuernie!

Trump: I will make huge tax cuts, tremendous cuts. I’m a builder, I will build a great wall, a beautiful wall, and schools, great schools, and I will make foreigners pay for it.
Bernie: But, that doesn’t even…(interrupted by air horn sound)

Audience: goes crazy

Would GAF explode if the sun exploded and melted earth in a supernova? Yes, it would!

That ticket makes no sense. They're basically as far as political opposites as is possible in our political system, and Trump's base and Conservative holdouts would have a complete meltdown if he tried to form a ticket with a socialist.

Trump has claimed he could walk up to someone in the street and shoot them and it wouldn't matter to him winning the election. I think he could do this and sell people on it. He's a snake oil salesman. He would claim he's unifying the anti-establishment faction of this country against the career politicians (forget that Bernie is a career politician), and the Clintons will be in the crosshairs.

I mean, if this actually happens

1) Email thing will be old news history (till FBI comes out)

2) Hillary will have a legit game tape on Trump and how he might react on a debate stage considering he is now the nominee

3) Bernie is going to either be neutral to Trump as he attacks Hillary and basically ignores Bernie or Bernie is going to go defensive on Hillary in order to have an actual debate with Trump

Basically Bernie will only be a surrogate for the DNC nominee and Trump won't even pay attention to him, after all why would he spend time attacking the person who has zero shot at the nomination?

I don't think he's gonna go hard on Sanders at all. He's going to play nice and lob softballs all night to try and convince Sanders supporters to vote for him.

The jokes on him of course, Sanders supporters barely even turn out to vote for Sanders.

Absolutely, Trump can turn this debate in so many ways.

Your statement is hypocritical considering Trump's ever changing, inconsistent views.

They are very well documented.

As is Hillary's flip-flopping. I hate that people just ignore that like there's not video proof of her smugly saying that marriage is something between a man and a woman. The look on her face in that video is what pops in my head every time someone vehemently supports her.

lol, I feel like I'm getting trolled

c'mon man, think for a second. when, where, and how did trump get that applause and enthusiasm from his crowds? what audience thinks trump looks good? what audience doesn't? how would that change from a republican primary debate against dudes like jeb and rubio?

Hillary = evolve
Trump = hypocrite

Because narrative.

Trump would "win" in a debate with Bernie and it wouldn't be close.

This probably isn't happening. Trump said all of the money from ratings would have to go to charity. Cant see any network agreeing to that. Maybe it'll be stream only?

Of course not, Bernie has a ghost of a campaign now, he has no money and probably a less than stellar staff to actually prep him for a campaign against the GOP nominee in terms of knowing what to say, how to say it, what Trump is going to bring up, how to counter punch, how to react...

This is only going to end in sadness

I will say he doesn't seem to be the principled honest candidate that he first set out to be when the primaries just started.

I honestly think the problem is he's principled to a fault. He's willing to throw the people his principles are theorectically built around under the bus in order to stand up for those principles.

This is far too important an election to allow yourself to completely lose perspective in the passion of the chase, and apparently there isn't a single person on his team that either isn't a yes-man or is capable of talking sense into him right now.

I have no issue with Bernie doing this from the standpoint of protecting Hillary. Just like I have no issue with him staying in the race from that same standpoint. My bigger issue is all those $27 donations he's still taking under the false premise that he can actually still impact the race knowing full damn well he can't, but that's neither here nor there.

But as far as Hillary goes, the game is the game. If he wants to keep running this failed race, that's his prerogative. Bernie doesn't owe HRC shit and is no obligation to play ball with the DNC. Just like the DNC is under no obligation to not find an interesting young politician (who's actually a member of their party) to groom and support as he/she runs to knock out a certain incumbent senator from Vermont when he's up for re-election in a few years. The game is the game.

Now everyone is going to laugh at Sanders for being the dummy that thinks the GOP nominee would waste time on a debate stage with the guy who is going to lose the DNC race.

I refer you to every other debate he's been in and won... which is all of them.

He made Jeb, Marco and Ted look like idiots, he'd easily, easily pick apart Bernie.

This is made easier by Jeb, Marco, and Ted being cartoonish charlatans who contradict themselves week to week.

For all of the Bernie v. Hillary FUD that flies around, Bernie has decades of fiery tirades catalogued in video format that you can watch to see his positions do not change, and if they ever do, he explains why.

The rest of the Republican field is easy pickings for Trump, they've got slime in their blood.

Just like the DNC is under no obligation to not find an interesting young politician (who's actually a member of their party) to groom and support as he/she runs to knock out a certain incumbent senator from Vermont when he's up for re-election in a few years. The game is the game.

lol, you clearly have never been to Vermont, they love Bernie there, precisely because he is not beholden to either inefficient party.

If anything, Trump is going to agree with Sanders on a lot of things just so all the Bernie supporters who are watching say "Holy shit, I actually agree with this guy!" and win their votes.

Yep. Sprinkle in some anti Clinton and "us vs them" stuff about the Democratic party and you got Bernie fully throwing the election to Trump because he lost. Thanks a lot Sanders, you threw away any progressive movement brought on by Obama and that would have been brought on with Democrats in office AND the Supreme Court for a generation.

God willing this is true.
