The Witcher III: Blood & Wine |OT| One last contract, one last plough

Is it known yet what the suggested level is for the BaW starting quest (or any lower suggested level spotted in the DLC)? Trying to finish my remaining quests in order of that level, so any quest with a lower level I could already do.

It seems to be 40, so I'll need to grind out a few levels later today as well.

Unless I'm losing my mind, it looks like they improved the alternate control method. I seem to be more in control, and can actually do a proper figure 8 without Geralt freaking out. Only tested it like 5 minutes, but it seems instantly noticeable to me.

Can you VPN this through Steam to get playing already?

No because it has a global unlock.

anyone know when this becomes available on gog?

Quests for B&W start at level 35-36. New level cap is level 100, which means that you should get close to level 50 if you're not in NG+.

My PS4 patch download is also stuck at "Preparing to download... (10%)". I've got 100 GB free on my hard drive, so it shouldn't be a storage space issue.

Thanks, I'll check it out!

OOS = Out of stock :P

Looks like GAME have sold all their stock on PS4 and XB1. Dem Gwent Card editions gonna become rare.

As another GAFers said it checks the file integrity of everything Witcher 3 related before starting. So depending on how your hard drive is performing and possibly what background apps you have running on your PS4 currently it might take a while.

Guys PS4 patch 1.20 is like 19 gb... does it include stuff from the expansion, hence the huge size, or are these 2 irrelevant?

No, it's around 3GB. Your displayed number will likely drop soon when your PS4 notices that all the other updates are already installed.

dmax, how many romance options are there in this expansion?

I'm around 22 or so hours in but haven't done a whole lot of the main quest. So far? Nothing has come up, except of course the dockside brothel, but that may not fit your definition of romance ;)

I think there's
one new one
, don't quote me on it though, it's just what I interpreted from the older 1.12 string files. I haven't downloaded 1.21 yet, so I could be wrong.
I think her name is Syanna. She's a brunette that's related to Anna Henrietta. Pretty important to the story too.

EatChildren, am I correct?

I also think
that Yen or Triss can visit the vineyard. Pretty sure I saw Yen in one screenshot.

Bah - I thought the Gwent guide book would tell you exactly where your missing card were, but it seems like it only tells me that there are 3 cards left somewhere in big-ass Velen.

Still better than what we got before.

If you find one of the spreadsheets online telling you where all the cards are now, at least you can filter it dowm to just Velen.

Did anyone get one free level with the patch? I was at level 39 with a few XP and after the patch was level 39 with 2000/2000 XP, killed 1 monster and got to level 40.

yeah, it sucks though that it wasnt just 2K XP but XP to the nearest level. i was just like 500xp away from level 39 lol

btw loving the overhaul so goddamn good

weird, it used to say 10 days 4hours of playtime

I decided to start my second playthrough of The Witcher 3 on PS4. I'm currently downloading the 1.20 patch which is roughly 20GB. Is that the latest update?

So I'm still like halfwayish through the base game (I think?). When I eventually get around to the DLC points what should the order be? Finish main game, then hearts of stone, then blood and wine?

On console, yeah.

Thanks! Got some questing to do already then :)

Also, is there any way to check your Geralt's level of a save file on the PS4, without loading it?

Asking this because I think I might be affected negatively by this potential B&W levelling thing. I loaded up my latest save after installing the 1.20 patch. Upon loading, I'm at level 34 with 0/2000 XP (towards level 35), but I could've sworn I was level 34 already, and no way I killed enemies/completed quests in such a particular way that I ended up exactly at level 34.

Admittedly, it has been some time since I last booted up the game, so there's a chance I was level 33, that's why I'd like to check the files. I currently have my most recent manual save with patch 1.12 and two auto saves on 1.20, but even with deleting game data there's no way back to patch 1.12, is there?

Damn, the UI overhaul is really great, though I would have wished for some menu performance improvements along with it (PS4).

I think my character build sucks atm, I feel I'll struggle in the expansion. I am one level off from using the viper sword from Hearts of Stone. Don't know if I should switch to heavy armor or not.

In GOG Galaxy there's a way to roll back to 1.12. I actually did that because I also wondered what my level was before the patch (Post-patch it was level 39 with 2000/2000 XP) and it turned out I actually was level 39 with 1600ish XP in my original save.

I also noticed that saves done on 1.21 is a lot smaller, like 10% of the 1.12 size. Maybe something strange happened to the XP in the conversion to the new save format?

You can always respec, potion of clearance or whatever the item is called lets you do it.

The UI change makes things so much more readable. Looks really slick.

Not a fan of that floating tooltip box. I liked the old way where the text appeared in a dedicated space. But I can understand why they did this, and I am okay with it.

Also, we can't view our stats directly from our skill page. We have to first go to inventory and then press R2 to view stats. I'd really like them to add back the function of viewing stats page directly from the skill tree page.

Fish eye removal option is great. Auto-centering camera option is also great. Map has added a lot of functionality.

Overall, this is a really neat update. Biggest thing is that I can actually read the text without straining my eyes.

Anyone managed to get the dualshock button prompts back? I had them in 1.12.1 with the controller plugged in via usb (without ds4windows).

On the subject of ploughing- Eurogamer says that there's less of that than in the main game but the scene that the reviewer did see 'will not disappoint'. I wish you could romance Fringilla Vigo in the game because short haired women are hot.

Hmm, I'll take it then that I indeed was level 33. A shame I didn't know about this "bug" before downloading the patch, else I could've min-maxed my build pre-patch by levelling up and then immediately downloading the patch afterwards, if it does put you on 0/2000 XP of the next level any way. Gotta reach that new level cap in NG+ :D

Yeah, i´m gonna start a new game, this time a completion run (except skellige, not doing the ? in the ocean).

E3 week is off, will play B&W then. Until then, NG+ or not. Hmmm, i think i´ll go new game, clean slate.

I just leveled up to 39 so I got one entire level of free XP. Hope this won't mess up my save later on :/

For me it put me on maximum XP of the same level I was. I was level 39, so 2000/2000 level 39.

Oh, and that Levity/Balance/Heft enchantment bug is indeed fixed, even tho it was missing from the patch notes. Good stuff, CDPR!

Just downloaded the update for PC. The new UI is interesting. Everything feels completely different.

Now just waiting for the midnight unlock.
