The Witcher III: Blood & Wine |OT| One last contract, one last plough

Anyone on PC seeing tiny white dots on some characters? They're all over the hat of the quest guy in the first inn when you get to Toussaint. Looks something like a tessellation problem I used to see with Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Was super excited to get home and mess around with the latest patch specifically the gwent cards. Boot up the game andddddd quest failed. Well that's awesome...

You must be talking aesthetically since it's far better when it comes to functionality.

No the items are now muddled into a giant pile instead of the separate categories they were before, the text is massive and obnoxious, there's "boxes" everywhere where there doesn't need to be, the sign quickmenu is a mess and not as responsive as the old one and the alchemy menu takes forever to scroll through.

God this new menu and UI is horrible. It's like a dumbed down babbies first experience compared to the old one. So unnecessary to change it.

Yeah the old UI was so hardcore and adult. Can't believe these goddamn pussies added in this baby ass bitch interface.

Sorry couldn't resist

I measured the in-game distances from N-S & W-E (the mini-map distances). The map is approximately 3085m X 2579m, or 7.96 km2. This is about 53% of the Novigrad/Velen/HOS total map size, and about the same size as all of the land area in Skellige (~35-40% of the full Skellige map, definitely a bit larger than Ard Skellig).

Note that this measurement (and the other map measurements) do not account for the restricted area at the border of each map where Geralt refuses to walk to. Accounting for those is a little difficult because the invisible border is not made up of straight lines. Mentally, I just tack off 10-15% of the sizes listed below.

Here are the rough calculations I did for the other maps:

Measuring the map from end to end (so including small restricted boundaries of each world map) gave me the dimensions, from which I got:

Novigrad & Velen (+HOS): 15.2 km2 (5.8 mi2)
Skellige Isles & Ocean: 28.9 km2 (11.1 mi2)
White Orchard: 0.8 km2 (0.3 mi2)
Kaer Morhen: 1.4 km2 (0.6 mi2)

Total: 46.3 km2 (17.8 mi2)

If we account for the boundaries it's probably a total right around 45 km2.

Interesting! Another takeaway is that based off of your rough estimates the new area is 10x the size of White Orchard. Not unbelievably huge but not too shabby either.

It really blows my mind that with all the support and additions they have made there has never been a New Game++ added. I would love to play through the game again but not starting from absolute scratch.

Two quick questions since I forgot from a year ago regarding the base game...

1. What's the alternative movement option do?

2. I want to select the choices after the prologue so do I select on or off in regards to the "simulate the witcher 2" save question?

Thanks.

1. Tighter controls. You want that on unless you are crazy.

2. Yes select "simulate." That enables the scene in the palace where you answer a bunch of questions about the events of Witcher 2.

I almost wanna start a brand new game and this time use alchemy and all the other things I neglected on my normal playthrough. On the other hand that's a huge time commitment and I want to experience Blood and Wine ASAP.

I only got to Skellige on my 1st/2nd playthroughs on death march. I stopped playing it but the hype of this DLC made me start a fresh game on blood and broken bones (too long of load times for death march IMO) and try to commit to finishing this game.

-The update broke Flood of Anger: you can't cast Alt signs anymore, and perk is useless at higher levels in death march.

-Crippling shot never worked and it still doesn't.

I can respec my pure melee build and never feel bad for leaving those two perks out.

This sounds terrible, I was going to incorporate that into my build.

1. Okay, cool. Thanks.

2. So "on" right? Want to make sure before I start. Thanks.

There's a new neutral skill that makes damage bombs deal TRIPLE damage but halves the bomb count (rounded up). Hell yeah my alchemist is taking that!

Also, the
bruxa
fight at the very beginning of the DLC is probably one of the best encounters CDProjekt has made. You have so many viable options that you can use to get the upper hand of the monster!

I forgot to download the 1.21 compatible version of Hearts of Stone so I get to download that again before I can even play because the game crashes on startup if I don't have it installed.

HOORAY

you'd think the platform made by the company that makes the game would have auto-updating by now and despite the website saying gog galaxy 1.1 supports auto-updating the checkmark is grayed out in options

Sorry guys but I have one more question -

Should Alternative Quick Access Menu control mode be on or off? And what exactly is the difference between on and off?

Thanks.

Not for me. I downloaded it, started up the game and it's still Heart of Stone. The UI was upgraded, but the new content isn't there.

Weird, I downloaded it on GOG Galaxy and it I got the prompt in-game and everything. First quest sends you to a Velen board to start the expansion. I'm in NA.

Yeah, I don't understand. I also downloaded it through GOG Galaxy and I was given no prompt or quest.

I'm confused by this. I have it on GoG and it autodownloaded 1.21 earlier. Do I need to redownload Hearts of Stone somehow? The checkmark for it is active on the DLC page.

I'll say again, if you did download it but it didn't install it automatically, install manually

Uhh the game just crashed twice on me once they set out to Touissant. I also noticed some notable graphical glitches like people clipping through doors and missing geometry. I don't have the new patch downloaded yet, not sure if that helps. Just plan on shutting off my PS4 for 30 mins and seeing if that helps.

Started a new game, can't even do the Devil by the Well quest in the beginning of the game.

The well itself is a garbled mass of strange geometry that I cannot even inspect.

There are definitely some geometry issues with this new patch update.

Going to stop playing for the night. I'm off tomorrow so I got all day tomorrow to play. Hopefully it was just a one time glitch.

Is anyone's camera moving down when riding Roach? Keeps doing it by itself, really weird.

My poor Roach lost its tail, too.

The way I understand it is there's 1.21 versions of Hearts of Stone and the 16 free DLC. If your game is launching and not crashing on startup I'm guessing it's auto-downloaded them. I tried launching the game without having the 1.21 version of Hearts of Stone and it crashed on me before startup.

However for me, Galaxy's never auto-downloaded anything, at least that I can recall.
