The Witcher III: Blood & Wine |OT| One last contract, one last plough

They really outdid themselves with the music, yet again.

That new Gwent theme, can't get enough of it!

Can't wait to finish work and dive back in.

So I'm scanning the recent topics list...

This game.

So first thing I tried to do in the DLC was to go to that awesome huge mountain in the background. Yeah turns out it is just there for decoration and you can't even come close to it, a real shame.

They did it to avoid being cliché.
"You see that huge mountain in the distance? You can't go there."

Here's a collection of my shots from the Review Thread.

And a couple of spoiler tagged ones of Grandmaster Ursine for those curious.

Grandmaster is a new tier higher than Mastecraft ?

It still looks like a bum armor... I hate how it look with each new tier and I think the original Ursine armor is the best looking armor in the game.

First time booting this up since Hearts of Stone and geez the new menu system takes a lot of getting used to. I think I'll just hang around in Velen clearing some unidentified stuff before I venture into the DLC. I cant even remember how to use items.

I need a The Witcher 3 refresher course.

I take a seat as well.

GOG Galaxy is downloading B&W for the third time. Both times it finished I started the game and the expansion turned out not to be installed. When I click on the DLC it just starts the download again. Anyone know what's going on?

EDIT: I think I understand, I just downloaded the installer from the client (twice) and it does not install it automatically. Anyone have a clue where I can find it in the GOG folder?

EDIT 2: Found it. It can be found in games/downloads

Maybe just install it manually using files from GOG site? Galaxy sucks :)

Do you have any group policy settings in place? I usually have update issues with the Galaxy client itself as I use CryptoPrevent which changes group policy settings to help restrict certain types of ransomware but it has the side-effect of preventing Galaxy updates, requiring them to be re-downloaded.

Have disabled it for the time being just in case I experience any W3 download issues. Would be interested to know if anything else causes problems.

Oh, is that all :p

Does this work if you've 'converted' your install from a disc based / standalone files one to a Galaxy 'Verified' one?

Wild hunt took me 100 hours and Hearts of Stone 15 hours, what do you guys think, how much time should I plan for Blood&Wine?

Just finished up the main storyline of the expansion. Spoilers if you haven't finished:

The entire storybook/fairytale sequence was amazing! Out of the corner of my eye during a cutscene with Syanna I saw the Bremen Town Musicians and chuckled because I grew up watching the Russian animated film based on the story. Other things like the golden goose and puss in boots were super cute. I found all of the boss fights appropriate, though the wicked witch fight was annoying as hell though oh my god (stay still for TWO seconds). Dettlaff's fight on the other hand was interesting both cinematically and due to it being so multi-layered.

The music was gorgeous as usual (new gwent theme!) and I love the characters, everyone feels so alive. The final scene
with Regis and Geralt sharing a drink and Geralt does the fourth-wall breaking acknowledgement was really nice. It made me smile, I was happy for him. Like good on you Geralt, go hibernate or something you deserve it.

I can't wait to finish up whatever I missed (like making my house pretty lol and yay for
Yen coming back
!). What a beautiful work of art. Congratulations to the entire team of CDPR, they've come so far! So much detail and world-building in both DLCs for such a great price. What a visually stunning location to finish things off. Three cheers for Blood & Wine or as they called it "Sweat & Tears". Well done.

P.S. - There was so much detail and effects going on in some parts that my 970 would choke a bit and dip from 60 to 25 fps at certain sequences. Mostly in the
fairytale
area. I was like eeeeek come on baby pull through for me.

I have it figured out. I clicked More --> Extra downloads and then Blood and Whine. This only downloads the installer which appears in your GoG folder/Games/Downloads. From there you can install it manually (doing that right now). If you want it to install automatically you have to go to settings and then tick the blood and wine box.

Let me know how it goes, as the Extras version seems like a leaner install size and I'm wondering if it would be compatible with the auto-updated Galaxy install.

It took 15minutes for me on eu PSN . Gotta love my fiber
Would have been fine if they offered a preload for EU season pass owners. Not sure if the blame lies with the devs or Sony for that one but I probably won't bother buying one for their next game if the same situation happens.

I too downloaded it 3 times it seems. Hopefully you figured out the issue so I can actually play. What a stupid process, Galaxy has a long way to go. I don't remember have to do that with Hearts of Stone.

where do you find the quest voor grandmaster gear

It should have popped up early in the expansion as a tutorial message, the town below the palace, whatever it's called the big city in toussant, has a weapon+armorsmith fellow that starts the quest. He's just east of the regular smiths. Icon looks like both combined. You should get a note from a kid to start your mutation quest in the same area.

Also, with my griffin set bonus signs finally feel kind of powerful. Standing in a Yrden field my igni is hitting for a shitload, and I just got the aard mutation and haven't tried it out but that should be spamming for insane amounts of damage as well unless I'm misunderstanding it.

A bit disappointed that the only characters that have a cameo role from the base game are:

[spoilers obviously]

Triss, Yen, Ciri and Dandelion.

At least, that's what I determined from looking at the string files.

Not mentions / references of, or to, Iorveth. Perhaps this is a good thing, and indicates that his cut content could get restored in an EE. Still hoping.

Believe.

I don't think Ciri, Yen and Triss are actually going to show up. Maybe more like Hearts of Stone, where Ciri, Triss and Yen can comment on the scar O'Dimm left. I mean, it doesn't make much sense for especially Yen and Ciri to be in the main story, considering it's supposed to be set before the main story.

They [big spoiler]

show up at the vineyard.

Ciri has different lines depending on the Witcher or Empress ending.

You might need to have completed the game for them to appear, but the files heavily indicate they will appear physically in Toussaint.

Dandelion, I'm not 100% sure about. He has new dialogue, 81 lines, but I don't know where it will be said. Pretty sure in Toussaint though.

When can we expect a GOTY special edition with all the dlc and single player expansions? Are they done with new game content or not yet?

Done with the expansions. No more are planned. However, they "have additional ideas" relating to TW3 after B&W, at least according to the CEO of the parent company, CD Projekt.

Might still get an Enhanced Edition. Especially when the new consoles launch. They did say that they would support the game for two years, so this should be the halfway mark.

Wait for E3. Maybe they'll announce something there regarding GotY or EE. I'm assuming it would launch at the end of the year, near Christmas for a final retail push.

Anyone else having problems
When you ride with the duchess to save a knight
where it just hangs at a loading screen on PS4? Been sat here for 5 minutes so far.

Tried closing the game and reloading and it still hangs.

Has anyone started the DLC with the "default" character. I played the game on GOG and my saves got lost so I want to go with the default char for the expansion but I dunno if that's any good or hinders the experience.

Also, can I use said character to play, eventually, heaths of stone?

It feels like an entirely new game with the whole UI overhaul and the option to quickly read through picked up books.

I don't quite understand the option in the gameplay menu to revert back to "basis menu options" or something along those lines.

Playing on Ps4 again after like half a year - was the interface always that slow?
I will need like 2 hours alone to get used to the ui and controls again holy shit.

Hello, i finished the main game with a level 35 Geralt. Won't I be overleveled for Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine ?
Thanks

So I've been playing The Witcher 3 on and off for close to a year now (I'm 90 hours in) and I'm getting back into things again with the new UI and the level scaling enemies (enemy encounters are finally challenging again). I'm currently level 32 and at the quest Final Preparations. Would you guys recommend playing Hearts of Stone before or after finishing up the main game. And the same question for Blood and Wine. I'm not sure if you can still roam the world and do quests if you finish the main quest line or if you immediately get kicked to new game plus.

Slightly, but HoS is pretty hard so having a few levels above the recommended level will be okay. Raise the difficulty if you haven't done it before, and/or use the new upscale enemy level option.

You can continue roaming the world and do open quests after you´ve finished main game. I would recommend playing in release order, since the DLC isn´t really tied to the main story.

New Game Plus is something you start from main menu. You can keep playing as much as you like after finishing the main story, do that first before the DLC since they're higher level

I can't remember it taking so long to load up menus/maps TBH. I think I'd have noticed and been annoyed by it if it had.

Overall the new interface will take a lot of getting used to. I'm gonna hang around Velen/Novigrad for a while until I get back up to speed with it.
