The Witcher III: Blood & Wine |OT| One last contract, one last plough

So I'm around 6 hours in now. I guess CDPR weren't kidding about the size of Toussaint. It feels just as big as any other area of the game, and I can easily see myself hitting the 30-40 hour mark on this DLC alone. Crazy.

After installing 1.20 and starting on BW, my level 70 NG+ character has -2000 XP on level 70. MINUS 2000. Bug or a way to level out the level, eh?

I'm guessing both )) You absolutely can collect new experience (initially working towards 0), but I think the -2000 figure itself is a glitch.

Regarding the GOG Galaxy downloading.

DO NOT download by going to "Extra Downloads" and click on the Blood and Wine DLC installer. This will not install the DLC by itself.

INSTEAD, look at the place where it states the patch number under the game's name and to the right of the PLAY button, next to the right there will be a link which should say something like "2 DLCs". Click on it and stick on the Blood and Wine checkbox. This will install the DLC automatically.

played for a few hours there! quite enjoying it so far. as far as the main story goes i've just
been reunited with Regis!
. Just taking a little break to try get familiar with where everything is. Already defeated a few people at gwent! Just back at
Geralt's Vineyard checking it out. Seems we can do it up. I bet this is gonna cost a lot of money.

my only worry at the moment is related to
the main enemy. I'm not sure if the vampire we found is the real enemy. It seems he's been annoyed at something so I get a feeling there is a bigger enemy yet to be revealed.
.

So I auto-fail the 'Collect 'Em All' quest upon loading 1.21. The only other quest I've failed. Guess because I'm locked out of certain Gwent games it figured it should fail the entire quest.

New UI has some nice new features. Not sure what the blue 'arrow' custom waypoint markers is meant to represent.

Also can't believe you still can't perma-collapse crafting sections! Expected this to be a new feature. It was probably the most annoying thing I found about the UI.

Sooooo, an update on my PS4 code from the Gwent Pack that still isn't working.

I called Sony and they checked their system, but all they can see is that my code is legit, it's activated on their end and it hasn't been used yet, so it should work and they have no idea why it isn't working on my account. The code is for the correct region as well (I bought it at a Dutch retailer).

So I contacted the retailer and they couldn't replace the code, but they're checking with their supplier if the code is faulty, which it isn't according to Sony, so they'll probably give me they same answer when they get back to me.

This sucks. Took the day off as well. Ughhh

edit:

i have a spare code. although i'm not sure if it will be region locked? i bought it in the UK. i have no use for it and was going to do a giveaway but if you want it just let me know.

PM

edit 2: blly155's code doesn't work either, so there's something wrong with my account, or the codes are regio locked.

Has anyone started the DLC with the "default" character. I played the game on GOG and my saves got lost so I want to go with the default char for the expansion but I dunno if that's any good or hinders the experience.

Also, can I use said character to play, eventually, heaths of stone?

It doesn't hinder the experience and yes you can play hearts of stone afterwards.

Some aspects of the new user interface are decidedly less elegant than their previous iteration.

Loading screens seem to be a bit longer than before, although I haven't played since finishing HoS in Feb...

Overall, glad to get back into it.

EDIT: PS4

oh so it isnt just me...loading screens ARE LONGER!

Folks!

I've finished the main quest line, currently level 34.. is this a good place to start both HoS and BaW from? I'm planning on doing the DLC in order, will doing HoS first set me up nicely for BaW?

Can't wait to get back into this world!

Went over to a question mark in the new area and got destroyed,on normal,by those plants thing...maybe I am not remembering right but theres seems to be something different in combat, like I am always locked on or something...? I wanted to run faster or move in faster to roll and hit but I could not,Geralt is like always in a slow combat mode...?

Awesome, thank you very much

It'd be hindered by virtue of quest levels being mismatched and your progression through equipment made irrelevant because nothing you earn will be as high leveled as Blood and Wine's items, but as far as difficulty goes you can make use of the enemy scaling feature.

If you never played HoS, there's no reason to play it out of order.

I take it no one else has loading problem then, tried it another 3 times and it doesn't freeze it just sits at loading black screen. i've tried loading an earlier save as well but nothing.

So there is this mission (the warble of a smitten knight) where I have to horse race trough a course while I shoot and attack some dummies. The thing is, when the race start, roach doesnt move. Geralt doesnt move. I think its bugged.
Has it happen to someone else? :x

Unless I'm missing something I'm kind of disappointed with that Gwent book. As far as I can see it just tells you how many you are missing and what region with no indication of where to look exactly. It's like trying to find a needle in a slightly smaller haystack then before :P

I was kind of hoping that it would point to where you should look on your map.

Indeed.

Also I'm auto leveled to level 41? Was previously level 40 with 1000-something/2000 XP. Wait, unless it was enabling the 'scale enemies' setting and killing 3 or so insectoids? Did they really give that much XP?

Edit: and the map filter is near useless if it only filters the icons that have spawned rather than all actual locations. The single blacksmith it finds in the entirety of Skellige also happens to be dead lmao.

GOG Galaxy had infact downloaded the expansion by the time I got home. Almost all of my mods are updated now, except Immersive Cam, but I can fix that by being overburdened.

Anyway, all good and ready to head to Toussaint!

The reason is not having a valid character to do so and overall not wanting to commit that much time to this game, I'd rather play B&W and then, if I'm still hungry, go for the rest with the provided character.

Also afaik decisions on HoS do not affect the main game nor B&W so no worries there.

Thanks for the enemy scaling tip, will keep it in mind.

Bah, people want for the game to pkay akone. Exploration, talking to people, trading, are part of the game.

So the reccomended level is 34 and i am level 41...Should i enable enemy scaling?

Playing on normal I didnt and died a few times already to regular mobs...but I hadnt played in months and you have a big fight like real early in this lol...I am level 40,leaving it on default for now.

I was level 40 going in on Blood and Broken bones, and some of the regular mobs are on the more difficult side.
Those fucking plants...
, so I switched it to normal, but the first boss while fun/interesting, was on the easier side, so I may just try and change back when about to fight a boss....

YMMV obviously.

OMG it's
Regis! I've read through all the Witcher books in English and I was wondering if he might turn up in the games at some point.

Encountered my first bug. It's with the Horsemanship training, Roach just sits there idle and you are unable to move, luckily it's not a requirement to continue.

The updates they added to the hud et al are also for the non-dlc version of the game? ie will I be able to take adavantage of those if I dont have any dlc?

Got all 19 Skellige cards but finding it difficult to win with that deck. Any tips?

By now (if you made all Gwent Quests), your Northern Realm deck should be untouchable. Every sword unit in your deck should be a hero card except these 4 point assassins who double their points with each of their cards. Hav

Have Gwent set on hard and nothing comes close to beating me with it. Hardest gwent match was that woman in the Vanilla Gwent tournament quest. Sad i didn't save these 3 matches because it was totally insane with dozens of spy cards.

Longer...wtf. They are already ridiculous long in vanilla/HoS...

You can continue roaming the world and do open quests after you´ve finished main game. I would recommend playing in release order, since the DLC isn´t really tied to the main story.

New Game Plus is something you start from main menu. You can keep playing as much as you like after finishing the main story, do that first before the DLC since they're higher level
Thanks guys! Guess I'll wait with getting the DLC for a while then. First finishing up all the treasure hunts, secondary quests and Witcher contracts.

forgot how this game doesn't run amazing on my setup. (3570k 980ti 16gb ram) with hairworks off... major framepacing stuttery noticeable even on a g-sync monitor, 40-70fps at 1440p.

time to look into tweaking stuff. I really should look into a new CPU this year.
