Polygon: Xbox Scorpio will be a ~6 TFLOP system (v PS4K's 4.14), unveil soon, Fall 17

So Scorpio will launch later than Neo? and will be only 30% stronger? Also what about Ram solution on it? Wouldn't changing esram affect X1 games?

Yes I would guess 12 months between Neo and Scorpio
No (maybe), leaks show Scorpio being 50% more powerful than Neo 4TF vs 6TF :)
We do not know about Ram

Need others opinions, if MS is releasing a 6-TFLOP system what do they do with the XB1?

My gut says they act like the XB1 never happened and move on.

They won't stop supporting it, they are still selling the thing

Just think of the XB1 as your average laptop vs your Alienware super PC. They can play the same games, but the laptop is going to have to sacrifice resolution, graphics and effects etc.

Probably keep supporting it for 2 - three years (tops) after Scorpio drops.

Edit

And perhaps with a new page we can..

Actually ~40% difference with the leaked info so far. Could be more or less, depends how well AMD do in power/perf stakes and if the CPU is factored in or not. So pretty much roles reversed if Sony can't back out.

I think this will be the case also.
I don't see them doing something similar to Sony and mandating games work for both (for whatever reason).
Think I posted earlier that if rumours play out MS will bookend the console power spectrum, which would be a terrible place for XB1 owners to be in, IMO.

Very unlikely Sony could change anything at this date (assuming everything we hear is true) but this time around it really doesn't matter so much. Both rumoured specs are much bigger numbers that before.

Exclusive games on the Scorpio that take advantage of the tech would more than likely would melt the XB1.

Which is why there's likely to not really be any. Because they'd also more than likely melt a PS4, and you apparently can't target the Neo at the stock PS4's expense. So outside of perhaps MS doing this with a handful of their own IP (which imo would be stupid, considering the smaller install base is already harming numerous exclusives), there'd be basically nobody to create a Scorpio game that can't run on an XB1.

Treat the OG XB1 like the Xbox 360 and slowly phase it out.

How do people feel about this? If the Scorpio launches in November 2017 and the Xbox One is phased out, that will be a four-year lifespan for the Xbox One, a console that people here spent $500 for about two and a half years ago.

That matches the Xbox OG lifespan, and I was not happy about that.

If they can get UWP going the way they intend to the XB1 could stick around for quite some time as the inexpensive gaming option, no? Not everything needs bleeding edge hardware and with so many Xbox Ones and PS4s in circulation that level of performance will need to be tuned and developed anyways?

There will be Scorpio exclusive games if MS want to have VR.

I don't see anything being 'phased out', I see the entire XB (or PS) ecosystem turning into a fully compatible ecosystem and devs simply move 'sliders down' for a long long time, these systems are basically gaming PC's now.

Nice Kerbal!

That would be a waste of power to not have any exclusive games. Even non-vr ones.

Ok yea... with the exception of those (and I imagine both Neo and Scorpio will see some games that have VR modes exclusive to them, even if the base game isn't). :P

Not according to the leaked Sony documents, they mentioned no exclusive content or modes can be released for the Neo. But I would guess an exemption for VR may be made in the future.

Sadly all of the Xbox people only interact with such kids like Tim Dog.

That's really not true but please tell me no one in management interacts with Tim. That seems like the last personality you would want to associate your brand with

He's an excited and passionate gamer like many of the people here. Personally, I think he's a very cool dude, and many of the people here would actually agree with me on that if they knew him better (or I guess simply if he agreed with them more. :P)

Senju don't throw your lot in with that nutbag. Your a good dude.

Timdog's a fanboy dickhead and I'm surprised Phil is associating himself with someone like that.

I don't see anything wrong with them interacting with him. Interacting with someone doesn't mean condoning any and everything they've ever said. They just see a fan excited about what they're offering they don't only interact with fans like Tim. They've interacted with me and a number of other different kinds of xbox fans on numerous occasions also. So there really isn't anything wrong with them interacting with Tim.

Ive actually thought for a long time you were timdogs alt account

A couple of my friends have said that. They have spoken to him privately and like him. However from what I have seen, from the Twitter page, the YouTube stuff, his Xbox account....to say he is very passionate, he spends a hell of a lot more time tweeting, podcasting and watching YouTube than he does playing actual games.

A bit telling if you ask me.

Yea it would be... but it also makes a lot of sense for those actually making the games. I could see things changing over time (especially when Nintendo or Sony make a clean generation break later).. but for a while I don't see how making Scorpio exclusive games makes any real business sense. It'd be like creating PC games with a 980Ti minimum spec.

Oh, didn't know that. Yea, I can see that changing pretty quickly if we start getting situations like Elite Dangerous having VR on Scorpio, but not Neo simply because it isn't doable on a standard PS4.

There's being passionate then there is being a blatant fanboy. He is the latter. Honestly thought he 15 years old for a majority of the team I knew who he was the way he carries on.

You know what's more sad than being a fanboy like Timdog?

Being so bloody bothered by a fanboy that you need to spend time on a gaming forum discussing and slagging off said fanboy.

Get over it. Enjoy games however you want to enjoy them, don't let how others decide to enjoy games get to you, and let them enjoy them how they wish.

I bought a bone day one and will be there for the Scorpio day one as well. 4 years is long enough for that disaster.

People really trying to excuse this man's fanboyism? I'm dying lmfao

this is OT anyway. I'm done.

Not an excuse just find it funny that you think this is some groundbreaking new specimen when I've seen this since childhood. Watch soccer or football sometime.

But you're right, OT. We should get back to the task at hand: If Scorpio will kick Neo's butt!

Amen.

Back to Scorpio...

This needed saying.

Edit:

I'm just adding to the problem by staying off-topic.

So, 6 teraflops, huh? That's 5,999,999,999,999 more flops than the XB1 was amirite.

You said "only interact with " which is clearly not true

Stop being disingenuous

Wat? disingenuous?

Im just saying what i noticed over all the months. Why do you guys get so mad now?

Ive read a lot of good questions from different people under tweets from Phil for example but this get often ignored in favor of some tim dog tweet. Something i really cant understand.

Well umm.. after reading a few posts re Tim dawg and Phil, thought I'd look up Phil to see what he retweeted. Then looked up tim dawg's tweets since I've no idea who he is and found him retweeting Ybarra's tweet: "What a day it's going to be on Xbox campus. #xbox". Then Xbox E3 says "Exciting things :)". Then someone asked "are we gonna get some news today?". To which Xbox E3 answers "I'll just say, watch out in the next few hours ;)".

What is supposed to be going on today??

I've spoken to Phil Spencer, Aaron Greenberg and other Xbox staff, does that make me one of those people? I have seen many tweets to them over the months years responded to by just regular guys including a lot of my friends.

"Why do you guys get so mad now"

Oh behave will you, mad, ha ha. I'm done. Ridiculous.

Just read it- it's actually not an MS executive and just some fan twitter. I doubt any thing is happening, my hype level was mistakenly peaked.

Sad but true. They invited him to E3 last year. Mike Ybarra was just on Mooch's podcast with Crapgamer, as well.

It really bums me out that some of Xbox higher-ups engage with the psychopaths who follow them.

"Other people behave like Tim so that makes it okay"

alright my man
