Explore the Alola Region in Pokemon Sun and Moon Trailer

Yokai Watch in my Pokémon game?

I'm guessing Sunlight Strike a Steel-type move and Moongeist Beam is a Ghost-type move.

EDIT:
Sunsteel Strike. Wow. How did I miss that?
Well, Moongeist Beam was super effective against Gengar. So I'd guess ghost. Unless they're doing some more dual type shenanigans like Flying Press.

That Rotom is so blatant though.

Love how they are so worried about alienating their Japanese audience that they just have to have Japanese themeing somewhere. How about keeping it consistent GF?

Huh? Unova and Kalos had no Japanese theming anywhere. Hawaii does has a significant Japanese population too.

The legendary typings are kinda ehhhhh. Not really excited for them anymore.

Rotom Pokedex is actually a pretty neat idea though. :o

Man, they're being very tight-lipped about new Pokemon.

For me, that's good. XY revealed too many, in my opinion, both in actual number and overall proportion of the new ones. I don't want to know >50% of the new Pokemon before the game is released.

Steel really is just the "badass" type when they don't know what else to do.

Why make an actuall armored creature when you can just tack it on to something that kinda has teeth or claws like Lucario / Mawhile.

There's also Jirachi who was kind of a comet and those are sort of metal sometime.

I had expected Lunala to be part fairy, since the whole moon/fairy thing. Least its not dragon again.

Really didn't expect steel (or psychic) for Solgaleo though.

I have this feeling that some of these cool little environments that we see on the map are actually gyms. I think it would be cool to have outside gym battles, it would especially play into the new battle scenes where people stand and watch.

I believe this is the official artwork for Kalos (but I could be wrong...):

And ORAS Hoenn for good measure:

No super duper zoomed-in versions, though.

Yeah, the clouds in Alola are definitely concealing the post-game areas. I did some digging around, and for both Kalos and Unova the maps we originally got had clouds covering Kiloude City and the eastern half of Unova, respectively. Later on we got maps with the full region.

Man, they're being very tight-lipped about new Pokemon.

Really hoping this doesn't mean there aren't very many.

Could be another X and Y where there aren't as many new Pokemon.

100+ or bust

There has only ever been one Psychic box legendary. Yes we have a lot of Psychic legends but most of them are mythicals, roamers and just general side legends.

Yah, people were mentioning the abundance of psychic and I was confused for a moment because I could only think of Lugia

so they'll have a gameplay demo at e3, safe bet on 20+ new mons?
Likely more unless they literally ran out of ideas. The reason we got so few last gen was because they remodeled every Pokemon in 3D, that's like 750 Pokemon. They're using the same 3D models here so I don't see any reason they can't go back to 100-150

That's my hope too. Looking through the map, there's not too many buildings that would stand out directly as a Pokemon Gym like past games from quick glance.

This would add variety and coolness to the outside of the gym, not just the inside of it, albeit at the cost of the familiar gym facade that makes it easier for newer players to recognize where they have to go.

I think no matter what the official names are for the islands, I'm only to keep calling them Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island no matter what.

wat
They managed to fit in a japanese styled town and garden into hawaii

There is a LOT of japanese people in Hawaii

Yeah, the first Japanese immigrants in Hawaii arrived in the late 1800's. A lot of the traditional Japanese buildings and foods carried over.

I feel like this game is going to remind me a little bit of living in Hawaii, but a bigger reminder of interacting with the Japanese tourists and the tourism industry's perspective. Shit, I think I took photos of a couple that looked like the main protagonists.

Hau is a Pokémon-loving young boy with a big appetite! He's the same age as your character. When you move to the Alola region, he makes friends with you right away. He has a real weakness for malasada, a famous treat in the Alola region, and he is always in search of malasada shops. He is a big-hearted boy who really loves Pokémon.

I could sure go for some those again... :/

Man, they're being very tight-lipped about new Pokemon.

Excellent. I would love it if they told us almost none of them.

It doesn't have much of a bearing on how many new Pokémon there are in the game, considering that they revealed almost exactly the same amount of Kalos Pokémon pre-release as they did Unova Pokémon.

Third island as in top-left or...?

Because I could see it. It's too small to be a proper course, but still.

A new mini-game where you play golf in order to gain rare Pokemon, the less strokes it takes the better the Pokemon is with IVs, Egg Moves, and Hidden Abilities...

I'd love to see them abandon the idea of Gyms being in towns and having them on Routes instead, where getting to the Gym would be the main challenge with the Route acting as the "Gym Puzzle". You could still have a PokeCenter though at the Gym so it wouldn't be too annoying to travel all the way back.

Some other cool landmarks from the map:

There is a ton of detail in this map.

I mean it's probably ghost, but psychic is also super effective against gengar since it's part poison type

Definitely ghost type considering the -geist part of it.

It's gotta be underneath one of these clouds. Come on Game Freak, I believe in you

Looks dope, can't wait. I think I'm gonna go on media blackout on new news now. I've seen enough. ✌️

Possible, but it seems different than all the other Pokemon Centers on the islands:

But, looking at it more closely, it probably is and the color is just off from the map.

Yeah it just looks a bit fuzzy is all, its got the same setup as the others. But I never noticed that the new pokemon center design is kinda mushroom like, heh.

Oh my god, that map's so dense.

Different artists and art styles, I know, but compare that to the Kalos map, and it's night and day. Can't wait to explore it all.
