Based on the summary and key art this doesn't seem to be the same Trunks from the Cell Saga, but rather a Trunks from the future of the current timeline.

dragonball shenanigans or Mai is using the same stuff that's making Bulma never age.
She does, in dragon ball she's a young adult.
Its explained in battle of the God's that the pilaf gang at some point during z wished for youth, shenron messes up and makes them a little too young.
So let's say she's about 20 in dragon ball, she should be around her 50s at the end of z. BUT Since she got knocked down to around kid trunks age at some point, she's around the same age as future trunks.

She was full grown in Dragon Ball, didn't show up in Z and is a kid in Super because of the Dragon Balls.

It's just a line in a promotional description, and even if she says that it's not a big plot hole, hell
she could just assume they'd bring him back with the Dragon Balls.
Trunks was there when Goku refused to come back and was even at his funeral so I would assume that the two know he wasn't wished back lol.

And why would he be able to jsut go back in time and wish him back though? Its Dragon Ball after all...what doesnt make sense is that the time machine can make a trip back to get Goku and Vegeta...and how would they go back to Trunks timeline?

From what we know Toriyama writes an outline for an entire arc and then hands it to Toei all at once.Hopefully the arc isnt 50 episodes, so Toriyama forgets too much stuff

They could have entirely used the dragon balls within the 3 years gap of Trunks' first arrival, to androids popping up.
There is nothing to explain really.
They might look small, but so do Goten and Trunks. Mai's "romance" with kid Trunks implies they're the same physical age.
Therefore it would be fitting. Since Trunks was born exactly during that gap.
If Shenron made them back to babies, it also explains why they weren't around in Z.

So going off tangent slightly. In the training for the Cell games Goku was in SS1 form 24/7 to train his body to improve efficiency of the forms power usage. Has this type of training ever been mentioned again?
I mean they're constantly using the newer forms and running out of juice in about 2 minutes so you'd think Golu would be doing the same thing as before.

They only ones running out of Juice would be Gohan who was slacking on training and Gotenks due to huge power drain during SSJ3 fusion and slacking of traning..

I mean we got the following already: Demons and Gods, which were later revealed to be aliens. Aliens from a different planet who then told us that Goku is an alien too. Androids and whatever Cell was...magicians who got Buu ouf of something....and then other universe aliens...plus Gods of Destruction... So clones would be new, right?

Cell was a clone of like 10 people at once lol
But the Goku in the artwork doesn't look like a fuse being. He just looks like Goku with a dark grey outfit. If he was fused with a Makaioshin or whatever, they would be a visible change.

Then how did he become a Makaioshin? As far as I understand it, you have to be born as one. It isn't an appointed position like God of Destruction.

See in Dimension 1 or Prime Dimension (called PD from here on) The timeline went DB>DBZ>DBGT. DBS is currently set in Dimension 2/Alt Dimension/AD
It's hard to pin point the exact moment of the split but it was likely caused by the death of Kid Buu, see I have this theory that Kid Buu is the ultimate embodiment of evil, he needs to exist. A yin and yang sort of deal. When he died it sent ripples across the fabric of reality seperating it at that point creating two very different set of events. PD and AD. In AD the Oracle fish never tells Beerus to chase the Super Saiyan God legend, Goku never learns about God Ki and as a side effect he learns about SSJ4. In the PD Pilaf and the gang never get to crash parties and steal away things because the Z warriors are never distracted by Beerus. They wait a long time and eventually get hold of the black star dragonballs.
It explains everything.

GT never happened deal with it. Kid buu does not have a more integral role in the universe and destiny than the gods which we see regularly throughout the show. Toriyama is about to put the final nails on the coffin with future trunks somehow I bet
