Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

From Amazon Sweden ?

Several different retailers have dates ranging form 9:th to 17:th for the Strix. One of them recently confirmed on FB that they'd be getting 15 cards on the 9:th, but that they already had a few hundred pre-orders, so only those that got an order in on the 27:th (when the Strix pre-orders went up here in Sweden) will be getting their cards on the 9:th, and most likely, not even everyone who pre-ordered right away will.

And there is no Amazon Sweden :)

Wait. They will got 15 cards on the 9th and they got a few HUNDREDS of pre-orders? The thirst is real.

It's been delayed supposedly. Wont come out for another 2 weeks.

And this is why this launch is fucked. Not cause of delays per say, not cause of lack of stock. But because there's no solid info anywhere, not from retailers, and somehow, not from the freaking manufacturers either. WTF is going on?

If the Strix is releasing today, they aren't doing anything to hype it (not that they need to). Not a single one of their twitter pages or blogs has mentioned it in the last few days.

So I have a Gigabyte 770 (Windforce with 3 fans). The thing is great if only because it is very quiet. Is that the norm for Gigabyte? Is the same likely to hold true for the 1070?

I'd love to know if he says anything about the fan noise. It's at around 2000RPM in Witcher 3 so based on reviews on other sites, it's still loud but maybe he did a custom profile or something. Someone should try a custom profile.

I would never consider the FE fan at 2000RPM to be loud. I would have to have it pressed to my ear to be bothered by that.

yes, It is the cheap one that go for ~€680
I would almost guess they are milking the €790 price point and clearing 980Ti stock

it very well might work. If the Strix doesn't get here on the 9:th as Webhallen have said, I might actually get an FE... Got my Vive which I currently only can use on pretty much the longbow demo in The Lab, cause every other one I try, I keep dropping too many frames.

The Gigabyte G1 releases on the 7th.

My 1080 finally came in last night! Nvidia.com refunded me my shipping charge without me asking too; probably had a lot of people like myself that ordered 2 day shipping and had it take a week. Couldn't play with it much last night but previously I had an ancient Radeon 7850 I bought in 2013 when my previous card shit the bed. I ended up doing a new build (i7 6700) and the only thing I was waiting on was this card. It was nice to go from 1080p DOOM 25-30 FPS on low settings to 1440p DOOM 60 FPS on highest settings :)

I pre-ordered the EVGA ACX 3.0 1080 at Amazon a few days ago. Is this supposed to be a good card or should I cancel and wait for other models?

Grabbed it for 620 bucks and I have no idea of when it will ship.

Just checking in, but have there been any reviews for the 1080 that aren't for the Founder's Edition? Preferably in English...

There can be a fair bit of improvement going from DDR3-1333 going up to 1866 IIRC, maybe 2133 too but I don't remember if the improvement is as much over going from 1600 to 1866. Of course that only also matters if the game can actually make use of the bandwidth, might depend on how CPU heavy the game is too, don't remember the details.

Here's the version all the CPUs OC'd to 4.4GHz.

Depending on other factors unless he's using a monitor with a higher refresh rate than 60Hz the difference there is negligible to non-existant. Will change with VR but if you're not getting into that right away and holding off say a couple years you might as well wait until you're ready to build that PC with VR in mind.

It seems like the same outcome to me in the overclock video. I would change CPU's in the near future - if it were me, I would do it with Sky Lake. Kaby Lake should be fine as well. There are other reason's to upgrade your CPU. For instance, Sandy Bridge does not support DDR4 RAM or PCIe 3.0. Your RAM speed is limited to 1333MHz DDR3, I could me wrong here, but I think it's accurate.

Wait for reviews. WindForce 3X was pretty quiet on 770, 970 and 980 but not so much on 980Ti. Theoretically it should be able to cool 1070 easily as it's consuming less than 970 but again - wait for reviews, you never know what AIBs might have fucked up in this round of coolers updates.

What was published already is added to the OP.

Probably throwing back my EVGA FTW preorder from Amazon. $720 after tax is brutal.

I'm just waiting to preorder from anywhere else to cancel my EVGA FTW from Amazon. Sales tax is the worst, and Amazon's free shipping is always super slow too.

I'm still not sold on EVGA ACX 3.0, now that lifetime warranty is gone I have no reason to buy EVGA over MSI, Gigabyte, or Asus. Except you know I can't preorder those either.

This sucks. I don't care that much when I receive the thing, but I want to at least preorder something.

I do believe B&H doesn't charge sales tax outside of NJ? Could be wrong though. Preorders are still open as well. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1257992-REG/index.html

EDIT: Thanks metsallica I Meant NY.

With all this uncertainty over release dates I've decided to spread my bets and (re)preorder the G1. At this stage the FTW is indeed looking more and more like the WTF.

Since when??

Super bummed about ASUS saying the Strix would be available on the 4th, and then no communication. If it was officially delayed, I wish they'd come out and say that.

My EVGA SuperClocked was rescheduled for early delivery. It'll be here Monday by end of day!

LMK if there are any tests/benchmarks/whatever you want me to run on it.

So I was thinking about building a complete new system but now I'm leaning towards just upgrading some parts. Specifically looking at the 1070 or 1080 paired with the Acer X34 Predator (which is a 3440x1440 resolution) screen. Do you guys think it's worth changing everything else ie. CPU, RAM, motherboard, etc. or it won't make a big difference? My setup is below, thanks!

i5 3570K @ 4.3GHz
Corsair H100 CPU Cooler
Asus Z77 Sabertooth
MSI R290 Twin Frozr
16GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR3
Dell 2714 Monitor
Samsung 840 Evo 250GB
SilverStone TJ-07
Seasonic Platinum 760W

Jump in, the water's fine. I just finished with custom build about 10 minutes ago, still updating all the drivers now.

Funny how a new GPU can make you all weak in the knees for a sweet upgrade.

Went from
i5 2500K Sandy Bridge to i7 6700K Skylake
8GB 1866 DDR3 to 16GB 3200 DDR4
1TB 7200 HDD to 1TB M.2 SSD

Now I'm just waiting for the final piece of the puzzle ...
