I don't think so. She was talking about how his aging will start to slow soon, that'd be creepy lol.

And Oliver is soooooo one of my favorite characters.

"Drama,
Drama,
Drama."

I laughed my ass off :lol .

Its amazing how much better invincible is better than the rest of the image hero books. At the same time, pretty sad that shit like spawn and the savage dragon are more popular when outside of an arc or two, are mostly throwaway rags

They aren't more popular. They don't even outsell Walking Dead/Invincible, which are Image's #1/#2 books, IIRC.

Edit: Spawn has more recognition though, sure.

I dont pay attention to comic sales i'll admit, but walking dead is one of the top books? Im glad to hear that. It needs to be compared to the rest of the shit image is producing

Image seems to be getting some more interesting new series', though. Outside of Invincible I never paid them any mind until recently (of course I'm not huge into comics).

Now guys, I love invincible something fierce, but Kirkman's dialogue is pretty terrible. Its filled with characters stating out loud exactly how they feel and detailing their thought process behind their moral choices as if its a fucking philosophy symposium. The guy knows how to write plot, but god damn if he didn't watch way way way way too many soap operas as a kid.

Honestly, all the best stuff at image is stuff that kirkman is working on or had a hand in

yea the only stuff i read from image is kirkman unless it's a limited series like I Kill Giants, at least they made him EIC or president. i don't remember which

You should read Chew. Its fucking fantastic. One of my favorite comics.

To be fair, thats not out of his point with that whole premiere-the-whole-first-issue-in-my-book thing :lol .

ahhh true

I can't wait for Choker also. Loved that short preview in WD a few weeks ago.

Invincible Returns isn't on the (preliminary) shipping list for this week :(.

It could get on the list Monday, but that'd be rare. So it's probably out next week, with Invincible 71 out 3/17.

I get most Image stuff in trades now but yea, the only 3 books I read from Image are Walking Dead, Invincible and Mice Templar. I never cared for Spawn, overrated, angsty BS.

And this is why I hate reading unfinished series :( But I do it anyway...

Just posting to lament the fact that Invincible Returns still isn't coming out this week :(.

Which, in turn, would push back Invincible 71 :(.

Unless they come out on the same day....

....is that the leader of the Viltrumites?

Why does he look like a 70's porn star :lol ?

Badass cape thing though.

Invincible Returns is out either this week (probably not) or next week (at the absolute latest). The current date for Invincible 71 is 4/7.

Edit: Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's NOT the female Viltrumite we've seen right (can't remember her name...)?

The leader of the Viltrumites has to have to have some connection to our crew. He looks sorta like Mark too... Maybe he's Nolan's brother? Son?

Oh hai!

Newsarama: http://www.newsarama.com/comics/image-invincible-guardians-teaser-100315.html

Borrowing generously and intentionally from Marvel’s recent series of Avengers teasers of the last month, on Monday afternoon Image Comics released the following teaser image featuring INVINCIBLE, with the tag lines “I’ve never really been much of a team player, and “I’m a member of the Guardians of the Globe – August 2010”

Post-Image United, is the major superteam of Image Comics finally getting their own series?

WOW

Guess those Guardians of the Globe rumors were true. This'll be awesome. Kirkman has really put together great characters on that team (specifically the Immortal!).

I gave Invincible a shot after coming upon this thread, ordering volume 1 of the ultimate hardcover release.

I read it in a night and ordered the other 3 volumes the next morning at work. Anxiously waiting for ultimate collection 5, but have no idea when it's coming out.

It's just so much fun.

Been looking for a comic to read that wasn't too far along to possibly catch up on, and this looks pretty neat. I'll definitely be giving this a try. You better be right gaf.

that's right, no battlepope hate allowed

damn it's been a while since I read invincible. haven't been able to keep up with buying issues at all, nor have I tried, since I got kicked out of my comicbook shop for being slow to pick up my subs. dumb morons. they never managed to pull/hold my books properly either. it's only nice to wait 6 months to a year and then pick up a big pile. not so great when there are issues missing from the chronology all over the place.

invincible issues seem to sell out the print pretty quickly, or are mostly hard to find, or really stupidly expensive. would be nice to get caught back up, think I'll get these most recent ultimate collection books and the most recent issues. just looked through my pile, the most recent issue I've got is 44. missing 29, 28 and 12.

only book I still keep up with, as always, is savage dragon :))

I've never read anything of this Invincible guy's comics but the art looks enticing. What's a good issue to pick up? Or should I just go back to the beginning?

Beginning for sure. The art gets a lot better after the first 8 or so issues, as well, once they switch artists.

UC5 is already printed, it'll be out VERY soon (as per Kirkman's twitter).

Dear God in heaven FINALLY!

Here are the four covers, with prices:

1075844_ful.jpg

Regular David Finch cover, $3.99. Something is off about his chin.

1075841_ful.jpg

Incentive Erik Larsen Variant Cover, $10. Hands are kinda big, no?

1075842_ful.jpg

Incentive David Finch Black & White Cover, $50.

1075843_ful.jpg

Incentive Darwyn Cooke Variant Cover, $25. This is my favorite.

I'll buy the regular one, though.

Man I need to catch up. I think I'm at the 10th or 11th trade paperback volume. I don't know if I should start getting the individual issues or just hold strong.

well as someone who started on trades with this book, it reads FANTASTIC in issue

it actually doesnt. the wait between issues on this after reading 68 within a week to catch up is killing me. :(

Fuck, waiting in line for a Kick-Ass screening and all I can think about is how much I can't wait to read Invincible Returns later. Why didn't I stop at the comic store before I got here? :(

Reposted from the comic book thread:

Invincible Returns:This pretty much kicked my fucking ass all over the place. The Viltrum leader looked badass too. Touched on pretty much every storyline going on, and the WAR is fucking here. Now.

Cant. Fucking. Wait.

And the art was fucking outstanding this issue, FCO especially elevated himself.

Cory did a nice backup too, his stuff has gotten much better too, even from that 2 parter a couple of months ago. Him plus FCO=awesome.

Feels good man.

I can't heap enough praise on this issue. It was fantastic.

BTW, Cory's backup acts as a recap of prior events, still, it's great to see alot of the major stuff the has happened drawn by Cory (who isn't as awesome as Ottley, but has a unique style).

So this series is awesome?

I've read the first 2 and it seems pretty light hearted. Does the plot/action get a bit more intense and meaningful or does it keep a rather light touch to the series?

The 3rd trade is where it shows it's true colors.

From there, yeah, it gets more epic/intense/brutal, but it can still do light-hearted every once and a while.

I'm not familiar with "trade" in comic terms. Does that mean story arc or something?

(pardon the ignorance)

Trade paperback, softcover collection (as opposed to the big hardcover collections which, material-wise, are made up of the content of several trade paperbacks put into one larger volume.)

So basically a single issue vs. collection of issues?

As in, I could read gdt's statement as "in issue #3..." when he says "3rd trade"?
