There were four cards on GK110: 780, 780Ti, Titan and Titan Black. I can see how we might get only the Titan Pascal out of GP102 this year and will get both 1180 and 1180Ti on GP102 next year. Or we can get a 1080Ti + Titan and 1180, 1180Ti and Titan next year. This depends on how well AMD will be doing mostly.

And I'm expecting that the first Vega will compete with GP104 forcing NV to drop 1080 price a $100 or $200 while the second Vega will compete with GP102 meaning that at least one of GP102 cards will have to be in the ~$600 range next year which in turn will push GP104 cards even lower. So maybe not $200 but $300-400 for a 1080 performance level is certainly something to expect by mid next year.

Sure can. The very first thing I'm going to do is max out Rise of The Tomb Raider. I house everything in a NZXT H630 Silent Edition case so I'm very curious how loud it will actually get.

Yeah - if AMD don't provide any competition then nvidia might want to keep the 1080 at a high price, milk further with Titan next year, then follow up with a ti 6 months later. So hopefully Vega will keep them on their toes.

It also makes me consider the 1070 as it is less likely to be as impacted by any downward price pressure compared to the 1080

I'd say that $450 for the 1080 or an 1170 that's basically a 1080 is more likely. $400 is the minimum to expect, not the maximum. I honestly don't think that Nvidia will even move on to the 1100 series next year though, unless the smaller Vega (RX 490X) just blows the 1080 away to the point that Nvidia needs to compete with it using a cut-down GP102.
 
I'm guessing 1080 will be down to 350-400ish used next year, always happens. When that happens I can't imagine used 980 Tis will be going for more then $300, probably < $250. That's why I decided to sell mine and just get the 1080, and I'll do the same when the next flagship releases. It doesn't seem like you really save on $ by holding onto older GPUs and upgrading later. Only difference really is spending the money now versus later. That's how I see it anyway.

I'm in the same boat. Was going to get 1070, but I need a graphics card for my new PC (first I've ever built) NOW; playing Overwatch with Intel graphics is making my eyes bleed (still really fun though). So now I have one of these preordered on B&H and I'm waffling back and forth as to if I'm going to keep it or not.

Well you can barely buy one in Poland where is costs as much as average monthly salary so I'd expect that it will be much worse in west where those things are much more affordable :)
 
Amazon have stock for any card? Looking at Nowinstock, it shows that they really have not had any to sell for a couple days. They blew their load early or something? (I need to order from there since I can get next day shipping for the low price of 6.99. Cost 35 bucks at newegg.)

Edit: I mean for the custom cards. My goof. :P

I feel you. Just bought a fancy new 1440p/144hz monitor but only have a 2gb 670 to power it. The smart move is to wait for an aftermarket 1070 at msrp. But the wait sucks.
 
Glad to see other folks are getting their custom cards too. Mirrors Edge looks amazing on Hyper quality at 1440p :D

Edit: My clocks are now 2050 & 5500 on memory. With 75 degrees at 60% fan. I love this card.
 
Got the SC from newegg. Paid for overnight and rush processing. I have no self control but I figured what the hell, if i'm spending that much already, what's the extra $38 for overnight shipping?

e: aaaaaaaaaaaaand cancelled by newegg. Thanks guys. christ almighty what a clusterfuck this shit is.
 
For a site that's been around as long as Newegg, they sure don't seem like they have their shit together.

Do they really not even have basic functionality that reserves inventory for X minutes while the potential purchaser works through the checkout process?

Keep your eye on the page. All of them so far have been relisted a few hours later with the cancelled orders.

It's not saved in your cart, but if you throw in an order quick and screw up your CC. You have 3 hours to fix before they relist. Today is a lot worse than yesterday.
 
Newegg shipped my order super fast. Ordered the G1 last night and got a FedEx tracking number 3 hours ago. Not showing any info yet but should get here Friday I'm guessing.

Wait what do you mean relisted? As in I should try and order it again? I just haven't heard the term relisted before with regards to the cards so apologies for being dense.

Nah I was gunning for the 1080 superclocked. I actually got order confirmation, and then order cancellation literally 60 seconds later. It was incredibly bizarre. I'm beginning to wonder what the stock situation is.

They wait a few hours for all the cancellations and declined credit cards, and then put the listing back up with the remaining cards. It won't last as long, so you have to be quick. Check nowinstock.net and use their alerts. Make sure all your order info is correct on newegg, so it's only a few clicks, and hope you get on in time.

Why are they delisting things in the first place? Why don't they just leave them up with a "not available" message? What's the point of taking the pages down and putting them back up?

It's better than Amazon and BH taking orders for weeks with no indication on when they'll ship. Then having Newegg beat them by days at this point, and without tax for most people.

I had an older lower end Asus monitor before. As good as the 1080 is it can't hold a steady 60 fps at 4k (most games). Moving to the xb271hk comes a better quality panel than what I had as well as the perceived feeling of a steady smooth frame rate.

I also looked at the pg27aq but reviews seem to say the xb1 has a better panel (better contrast etc). It could be just out of the box settings, I'm sure both are pretty equally great.

Overall pairing the 1080 with gsync feels like the upgrade I was hoping for due to no more janky framerate variance.
