Pokémon Sun & Moon | Info and speculation thread

The big question for me is how much of the E3 stuff gets spoiled by Coro Coro- the leak should be coming over the weekend.

I see no real reason to be massively conservative on how much we're actually going to get from here on out- we've had two reveals in the big publicity cycle and I don't see them slowing down.

Is E3 popular in japan? If they don't follow it then I'd say "everything" will be leaked.
How it worked last time is that the stuff in Coro Coro and at E3 overlapped without being identical- Coro Coro had its own reveals like Litleo, Flabébé, the rivals and the first Gym Leader, whereas E3 had Skrelp, Clauncher and some of the modes.

E3 is prominent enough to warrant the Japanese Pokémon Twitter to tweet about the Treehouse stuff.

Well everything in the ORAS E3 2014 reveal was leaked in CoroCoro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ma2CBnBlXs

CoroCoro had the exclusive on Mega Diancie.
E3 then had an exclusive on Mega Sableye the next day (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhBSCthYTLE)

This is all true, but ORAS's E3 presence was largely restricted to the Direct trailer, whereas both X and Y and Sun and Moon have further exposure, be it through the Treehouse stream or through the dev roundtable. Hopefully it won't be the same this time out.

I wouldn't call Sun & Moon's "further" exposure. If Nintendo were having a Digital Event, it'd just be in that.

Please don't tell me they have the Litten crap again. Because I want to punch someone if I heard that stupid theory again.

i think you posted this before the blog post but masuda says he's appearing during the pokemon e3 stuff, sounds a bit more involved than that

It is brought up briefly and they try to link the symbol for salt (

) to Rowlett and the symbol for Mercury to Popplio (
28px-Mercury_symbol.svg.png
) but it's admittedly a weak connection. It's not necessarily important to theory in any way.

Why? The existence of other pieces of evidence help back up the theory that the markings were intended to be related to sulfur, plus the addition of it's volcanic appearance helps support it.

GameXplain just put out a video on a pretty cool theory that would connect Pokemon XY, ORAS, and SM through Project AZOTH. It's based on the theory from reddit user kalospkmn.

And my goodness, there're links to Shaymin and HGSS too... This is quite a doozy.

Dang, that's pretty deep lol. I absolutely was skeptical of this until he pointed out one of the movie characters is name Eliphas. That can't be a coincidental connection to the alchemy book, especially when combined with AZOTH. I'm going to guess the sulfur, mercury and salt will be more obvious in the starter's evolutions. There is just too much evidence for these to not be intentional references.

So do any of the movie plots ever relate to the plots of the games? None of the movies I saw ever did.

No, not that I can recall.

Doesn't stop it from being the first, however. Definitely some shenanigans going on with the anime/movies having all this "anime-exclusive" material (if you believe that) when it really didn't need it. Time will tell.

Admittedly, I don't think so. But project AZOTH is mentioned in the games, which is what the movie is also talking about, so it seems like this movie will have some connection. Also the movie will likely (confirmed?) have the character AZ in it, which is a game character, which has never happened in a movie for characters other than gym leaders I believe.

Anyone seen that fanart of the potential Sun and Moon bird Pokemon from the very first trailer?

Hope the real thing looks as cool as some of the fan interpretations.

There are mentions of Project AZOTH in the games, but the movie takes places in the Azoth Kingdom. While they have the same names, that's not exactly the same thing.

Also not sure where you're getting the idea that AZ will be in the movie? If anything he's more likely to show up in the Team Flare anime plot.

Youtube videos and people I know who play Pokémon keeps saying that the Alola Region is huge!

I don't see it. I'm actually afraid that it maybe too small if these are the 4 main islands we're getting to explore.

Is my imagination failing and this region is in fact huge or Am I right in thinking this map looks too small for a region?

because it feels forced (especially the eyes thing) and honestly the mark is more of a typical tiger thing than sulfur

no more "evident" than say, "Altaria is a tropical bird" because it has clouds and is found in the Hoenn region

I think the map may actually be a little misleading, in terms of detail and scale. The perspective seems off, if nothing else- compare the size of the islands on the artwork to Kukui's map. We also already know that some landmarks have been left off too- the north bay of the starting island has a cave in it which is nowhere to be seen on the artwork.

If nothing else, I would say that it looks like there's less of an emphasis on towns and more on points of interest- there are Pokemon Centers in areas where there doesn't even seem to be any other buildings, and there are relatively few meaningfully developed areas. kind of makes sense for Hawaii, I suppose. There are going to be quite a few forests, caves, volcanoes and deserts to go through if you follow the path round, and I'd be very unsurprised if they left the routes less detailed on the map to make it easier to comprehend.

Of course, the size of the region isn't the important bit, it's the density of it and the amount of interesting locations and things to do that really counts. In the Black and White post game, you can literally run from the starting town to the League in a matter of minutes while barely encountering any Pokemon, but it's the points of interest and areas to explore that really make it. My first impression of the map was that it's totally dense with places to see and stuff to do, which matters more to me than square footage.

A 'typical tiger' generally have more than just two forehead markings and generally the markings on a tiger curve with it's brow.

I'm not outright saying you're wrong, but I am saying that there's plenty of evidence support the idea that alchemic symbols are being hidden in Pokemon designs and the world at large recently. Dismissing it with an example that... doesn't even really make a mark of comparable sense.... and then threatening violence against the idea of bringing it up for discussion just comes across like something a thirteen year-old would when they've lost an argument on the internet for the first time.

A typical Japanese cartoon tiger do though, which was my point.

would post random pics but might get accused of furry dumping

I'm going to get moon edition just so i can have night bat. I hope they add voice chat, I'll be singing the song if there's any multiplayer battle that allows legendaries. Best pairing ever.

Looked up what I think you're talking about and it does more closely resemble Litten but from what I can see most of those designs seem to have the center stripe flow to the back of the head until the spine and I still think the way you're handling people who hold the theory is juvenile.

mostly talking about the forehead thing being usually common (like a single vertical stripe with multiple horizontal stripes), hence the "king" stripe because it looks like the king kanji

It's just that I feel like people make theories on something that really isn't there if you look at certain aspects. But meh.

From what I can hear the battle theme sounds amazing. Gimmie dat theme. Hopefully we'll get a clearer version from the live gameplay at E3.

I hope we can get a new gen with a proper aftergame (somewhere between Gen II and Platinum would be fine). That's always the real "meat" of a Pokemon game anyways.

I also hope they consider changing exp sharing mechanics again. Give it someeeeee downside. If you battle all the trainers in the game now (god forbid you have a traded Pokemon) you'll be ridiculously overleveled. I remember steamingrolling X/Y's Elite 4 with zero real difficulty because I think my HM Slaves (Farfetch'D and Linoone?) were already able to battle them, let alone the team I actually used...

Also did we really need more psychic legendaries? Bleh. We need more electric!

Time to bring back gen 5's exp scaling.
