Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

Yeah definitely feels like there's less demand for the 1070. Just going off the pace of comments in the 1070 review thread and the nowinstock page. Nothing compared to that of the 1080.

lol because the 1070 hasnt launched yet. the 1070 will sell way more than the 1080.

I wish I lived in Europe right now. The stock in the US just dried up and pretty much controlled by scalpers. Will cancel my FTW preorder the moment anything drops at this point. Tired of this awful launch.

Did I mention they deliver via Yodel? ;D

That was a uncomfortable wait! :|

Oh god. The phone I bought for my daughters birthday was by DPD. 1 hour slot notified by text message, and live tracking of the drivers route via their app. Also they'll try to deliver twice in case you're out. Sod's law they'll try and deliver when I'm out of the house..

Everything came today except my ftw 1080 which have gotten pushed back 12 days. So tired of waiting, and the FE is just teasing me in stock everywhere. But I will persevere, I think.

Well I was following before the launch of the 1080. The day before and like I said I saw way more excitement for it. It might sell more but I'm not seeing the same level of excitement for it. It's an arbitrary way of measuring potential demand for it at launch sure, but it's what I'm going with I guess

tbh all things being equal I'd expect the 1070 launch to be much worse.

So Webhallen in Sweden are apparently not getting any EVGA cards this week at all.

I've ordered the EVGA 1080 SC on the 27th of may(pre-order) and I was really hoping on getting in this week(first said delivery 7th of June later changed to 10th). Just got an e-mail back from Webhallen about my order where they said "The delivery of GTX 1080 have been delayed. The approximate delivery date is between the middle of next week or end of the month"

I mean end of the month! that's insane(!), should I really have to wait a month for my card to arrive? It's especially frustrating when you see people buying EVGA SC cards on Newegg yesterday and getting them delivered today. what is going on? Did EVGA choose to not deliver cards to Europe and instead prioritize the US market?

sry guys just needed to vent a bit. Bought a new computer and all that is missing is the GPU, can't play anything so i'm pretty much sitting on a €1000 reddit/neogaf machine at home.

If anyone have any info about EVGA distribution it would be really nice to know.

This sounds very similar to the delay of my own EVGA SC order at Komplett.no. It was listed as expected on June 10th, but since yesterday it's been 22nd instead.

I have a feeling that the 1070 launch is going to be much much more smooth. NVidia expected the 1070 to be popular. I don't think they expected the 1080 to be AS popular as it has been with its high price point. I have a feeling that this was just a foresight issue.

Well, I can only repeat what I posted earlier.
ETA for the EVGA cards was delayed twice(!) today in the German stores I monitor and now sits at a comfortable 3 weeks for the SC and 4 weeks for the FTW.
Not a single word from EVGA EU but I guess since not even the US guy has an idea what's going on (he now "hopes" FTWs can be sent out for reviews soon while two days ago he said they were already on their way?) they probably don't either.

Just set up your own stock alerts with a browser extension. VisualPing is pretty good, although you're likely to get false positives no matter what you use. NowInStock is pretty much useless these days; half the time things will be sold out by the time you get a notification.

Best option is to just write your own newegg scraper. Working on one right now; no promises, but I'll see if I can find a way to make it work for GAF as well.

Have you had any strange issues at all? I got the green bar thing fixed. Just finished playing Doom for the last hour or so, no issues. Now I'm browsing the internet, and everytime I scroll up and down, my screen flashes and I get black and white bars rapidly flashing across the screen . Turned off the OC, and everything, still happens.

I'm just going with the 1070 being as hard if not harder to get

low expectations going in that way if I get a non-FE one it'll feel like an accomplishment

want a Strix or FTW...probably a while before either are actually available

Yeah I'm really wondering what is going on over at EVGA atm. What is being delivered in Sweden atm are the MSI Gaming X cards (out of stock and long queue on the pre-orders). But EVGA really need to communicate clearly how they are/ the plan for distributing these cards in the EU is since everything is mid-late June now, it's starting to get frustrating that they don't provide some real dates. They should release a list of how many cards are being sent out each week to each retailer or something, even thou they don't want to show that to the competition but as a consumer it's really frustrating.

Well I now have an MSI 1080 Gaming X coming early next week so that's that, paid a little extra compared to competitor cards but I wanted as quiet as possible and at least the card is being delivered now as opposed to waiting for stock. I cancelled my 1080 FTW order from EVGA/EU and as usual, their customer service is top notch. They issued a refund within two minutes of my cancellation.

Anyone here order one through B&H? How was the experience? How long did it take to get the card, or are you still waiting. I ordered mine two days ago and they still haven't even given me an expected shipped date.

Edit: Order the EVGA 1080 SC, in case that matters.

It seemed like they left their pre-orders open for a long ass time. Like, I think they just stopped taking them yesterday. So, I'm real curious how much stock they plan on getting. Don't know anything about them, but it seems crazy for other places to sell out in minutes, and them to leave orders open for days. Guessing there are going to be some people waiting a good while for their orders to be fulfilled.

The only thing I've ever ordered from them were under-priced Amiibos. I don't see them capable of fulfilling my order, sadly. I put down my money for the FTW, not an SC, but I think it's universal with how bad any of these cards are being handled. Like others said, those preorders were up WAY too long and are making me very uncomfortable about when I'm actually getting my card.

:/

Guess I'll have to make do with the 1070 FE. Amazon says it'll be here Monday, so I'm pretty confident it will be here Monday. I had gotten pretty attached to the idea of having a 1080, but I suppose this is better for my wallet.

What was the source of your green line?

I believe it was a driver issue. The first reinstall didn't fix it, but I tried again this morning and it took care of it. I am still getting a weird stutter issue on the desktop now. It's not OC related, because it does it with stock clocks. Who knows, maybe these drivers were rushed.

As far as my OC goes. I've got everything stable at +125 Core and +400 Mem. Like has been mentioned by most reviewers, if the system isn't taxed, this thing boosts like crazy. Playing Rocket League, it sits pretty at 2114 and 58C. In Doom, it starts at 2114, and every ten minutes or so starts to back down.

I kept tweaking to figure out where the temps would be stable long term. Even if I back it up to +75 the temps eventually sit at 76-77C for continued game sessions 1hour or so. So I dialed everything up +125, +400 and it sits at that same temp and levels out at 2038 during extended gameplay.

Jaytwocents was at +220 +500, but are pretty close to where I am at.

For what it's worth, I've been using an FE card since launch day and haven't seen anything strange like you're describing. Doesn't mean it's not software though, just my experience. Aside from the now fixed revving fans, it's been just like my old 980 setup but faster.

Probably gone at this point, but just saw the MSI Gaming X come in stock at Newegg.

Too expensive for me for not offering any significant performance increase.

yeah that is why I am returning mine along with coil whine

Find it weird they're limiting it to 1 purchase per customer. I need that SLI action.

haha I have one coming today but I am just gonna return it for the strix versions and get 2.

Actually, I just realized that Newegg doesn't charge sales tax, so the thing comes out to about the same as my FTW order from Amazon even with next day shipping. I went ahead and put in an order. We'll see if it doesn't get cancelled.

Yep. That's what I started to realize when I was looking at it. At that point, all I was paying for was the overnight shipping. Newegg is charging you basically 50% of the sales tax as a mark up, so whatever. Let's see if this one actually goes through!

Fucking coil whine is an issue with these cards? That's annoying.

Still showing as in stock..not used to seeing them stay up so long.

Couple of the founders editions have been in stock for at least a couple of hours on Amazon. I don't know why anyone would buy them now that the real cards are starting to trickle out, but they're there none the less.

The price for the cheapest FE already dropped by 55€ since launch in Germany. Nice.

(Edit: "nice" as in people don't seem to bite on the FE in droves anymore, which should cause a natural price adjustment of the silly FE tax)

yeah in jaytwocents (?)

he mentions it, obviously with higher fps but why would anyone wanna bother with that paying a premium like that for these cards?

Got payment charge confirmation form Newegg, so I think they're processing it. Looks like this is the one I'm going with. At least my 1080 hunting nightmare will finally be over.

Hmm I may cancel if these cards produce coil whine.

EDIT. They charged me right away. Too late to cancel now.

Yeah...I kind of just wanted it to be over and while it was slightly marked up, it's very close to fry's/Microcenter/Amazon with the tax they'll collect

A shipment of ~14 FE has slowly shrunk to 2 on Sweden's largest online retailer in over 24 hours
During the first they sold out in 15 minutes
and others have adjust their price small amount
The hype seems leveled now, so prices should start to drop shortly... on FE at least
