I think I get it now... Sony bought Activision and now Spiderman and Crash will belong to Sony. They will obviously still let Call of Duty be multiplat though. It all makes sense! Now that would be a Megaton.

Sony doesn't have to buy Activision for spider-man

Sucker Punch making Spiderman would print money, and I imagine it will look ridiculous if their latest game in early 2014 looked as good as it did. Would be cool if they got the Spiderman kid from Civil War to do its VA as well.
If tom Holland isn't doing the voice my disappointment will be sky high it makes perfect sense especially with the game being(most likely) a 2017 game right with the movie

yeah sucker punch spiderman sounds too good to be true.

Insomniac makes more sense. Especially after Sunset Overdrive and I don't think such a big name brand would be set on being exclusive. A lot of money to be made on PC and XBO.

Sony and Disney have been having a pretty healthy relationship lately. I think if the Spider Man game is successful we might see more Marvel IPs from Sony in the future. I know it will never happen but a Punisher game by ND would be fantastic.

Sony has the movie license, they also registered a Spiderman 'working title' trademark I believe, which started this whole rumor to begin with. That rules out Xbox, unless it goes to PC under UWP (which it won't be if Sony published) and MSFT loopholes that into their new Win10 'Xbox' consoles.

Wonder what the legal ramifications are when/if that comes to play, if third party exclusives loophole a UWP PC release?

I just want to see Nate Fox on stage again. Spider-Man or not.

No thanks. ND needs to work on new IPs, they're too good to be wasted on established IPs. I would say the same for Sucker Punch but Spiderman by them actually makes a lot of sense. I'm fine if they're working on a new IP/inFamous sequel though.

Again, exclusives have a monetary value. They could of negotiated it into it being 'The Agent', but the deal could just as easily be renegotiated to be a decade's worth of exclusive marketing rights on all Rockstar releases, or exclusive DLC for the next 2 or 3 Rockstar Games, or whatever else that is decided upon between Sony & R*.

Personally, I don't see them pulling the trigger on their contract for RDR2, but if Sony finally understands that the dev effort behind Agent has fully stalled, I could see them trying to renegotiate for some other form of compensation. I mean, last estimate for how much that deal came out to was over $50 million worth of funding, so its not like its a small bit of chump change Sony lost & is looking to regain from the LA Noire deal.

Whatever R* put out is going to sell a lot. A 50m investment to sit on for x years for a game from them is nothing. It will make bank.

So I really don't think Sony have any muscle to push R*. They are the one dev you don't want to piss off.

Spider-man obviously belongs to Disney, Sony has the rights to just the movies. How that factors into making games based on those movies is questionable but like someone else mentioned Sony and Disney are pretty buddy buddy right now considering the MCU spidey deal.

Sony doesn't have to own the rights to make a Spidey game. They can just license it from Disney.

In a statement, Disney's chairman of consumer products and interactive media, Jimmy Pitaro, said they have changed their approach to console gaming and would be transitioning "exclusively to a licensing model."

You can add the Star Wars Battlefront partnership as well, considering EA goes with MS for most of their other games, but didn't with a Disney game.

Cory retweeted this.

SSM are probably the most technically talented studio Sony have with Guerilla second. I'm insanely excited about Barlog showing off the new GOW, I can't believe how good GOW3 looks 6 years later! Also pretty amazing to hear Sucker Punch probably aren't working on Spiderman, I really did not want them to be wasted on something like that. As someone that got a PS4 for first party exclusives things are looking so fucking rosey at the moment.

TLG, Dreams, Detroit, Sucker Punch notspidermanhooray, GOW, GT Sport, Horizon, Gravity Rush 2. I am fucking happy, will get the Neo as well to play to enjoy the games because why not I say. :D

Santa Monica better not show up with a CG trailer. Don't make me complain on the internet, Cory!

If Barlog, after almost 3 years at the studio only has a CG trailer to show, that will be totally fucked up. I think there will be an extended gameplay reveal as there was for Horizon, I have no doubt at all it will be a beautiful game and would be good to show it off. If Neo is happening, I do see that being revealed followed by showing off GOW 4 running on it.
