Sony E3 2016 Press Conference: June 13 at 6 PM PT/ 9PM ET

I really have a hard time imagining Sony showcasing "neo" mode games at the press conference. we're not talking night and day differences with the neo here, sure things are going to look better but it's not stuff that is immediately obvious on a stage show or a stream.

what's going to suck is everyone pointing at every great looking game and claiming "welp thats the neo version of course"

for what it's worth I don't think neo will be at E3

That could work to Sony's advantage though. Let people convince themselves that X or Y game has to be the Neo version, it looks too good for regular PS4, and then at their dedicated Neo unveiling event they are like 'nope crazy people, it was PS4 all along, here's what Horizon/GoW4/Final Fantasy-killing JRPG looks like on Neo'.

I can't wait for angry nerds who don't like VR to be pissed off when they watch this conference on Monday.

I'm not currently interested in VR but you're right - for some reason, a lot of people in this thread think VR is going to be this little blip during the conference, which is funny to me.

I'm going into the show expecting around half of it to be of absolutely no interest to me.

I expect them to announce VR games, but I don't expect them to have a bunch of people on stage demoing VR games. They just don't demo well.

I definitely think they need to have it there and to show enough for people to be convinced that it will be a supported and future-proof platform but VR just isnt something that can be portrayed in a good/real way through a stream. You need to try it for yourself to understand its appeal.

Yeah. What I expect is just a short segment of the conference for a few big new game announcements for it via trailers, save the demoing for people really trying it on.

Edit: Just as SolidSnakex said above.

expect a decent amount of this:

Sony E3 - 2am to 4am, Work - 6am to 4pm.

Gonna be brutal.

Haha, I feel you. 3 am to 5 am for me. I'm going to try to get some sleep early and wake up at 3.

Oh this isn't good, just saw this, regarding 3 am to 5 am;

3 a.m. is also called "the midnight of the soul". It's also been called "the devil's hour", because more people die between 3am-5am than at any other time.

That's probably true but I think it's crazy to think that a large portion of the show won't be devoted to VR. Sony doesn't need to have a bunch of stage demos in order for PSVR to be a large focus of their presentation.

a timed Rockstar exclusive? lmao

That's just as unlikely as a full exclusive. I'm certain the only thing we'll see from Rockstar is Red Dead (as a multiplatform game)

They will have a 10 minutes section with all the trailers of the upcoming VR games.
I wouldn't expect stage demos, they tried to do it at PSX and it was a disaster.
VR needs to be tried on the showfloor, at the conference it only makes sense to announce the games coming for it.

10 minutes is a lot less time than I'm expecting.

I'd be quite happy with that though!

I really don't want to see Kratos angry again ripping apart Norse gods. Even if it's technically impressive, the horse has been beat so many times. If GOW wants to remain fresh like say Zelda, they need to mix it up again into an actual adventure game, and not just action with set pieces. Puzzles, good storytelling, characters we care about, variety in gameplay, etc...

I still think hype wise, E3 will be hard to top, but it's looking like another strong Sony conference is less than 4 days away.

Should be good...

I just want to be able to conrol the camera and look where I want to, I cant stand having the right thumbstick not control where I want to look, it just breaks immersion.

Fixed cameras suck

As unlikely as FFVII Remake, Shenmue 3 and TLG in one and the same conference.

No, really. The idea of Rockstar giving anybody an exclusive, timed or not is ridiculous.

Not really.
They had an exclusivity contract with Sony for three games during the PS2 days.
They gave Microsoft the timed exclusive of the GTA4 DLCs.
And they gave Sony the Agent exclusive although the game failed to materialize but the intention was there and the project existed at some point.

I'm not expecting it to happen but a timed exclusive is not something impossible based on Rockstar past history.

Same time as Game 5 of the NBA finals. Will probably be another blowout anyway. Can't miss a minute of the presser. I was in tears over the Shenmue 3 announcement last year. I hope they provide an update with some gameplay footage this year. The kickstarter updates have been pretty sparse.

I'm just gonna watch both at the same time.

You can see the neogaf paradox at work : Some posters go to extreme lengths to scavenge every bit of information and rumors about a conference that will be taking place in 4 days time, only to complain later on that there was no surprise left after Monday has come and gone...Well, stop digging!

LOL so true.

I really don't expect a large portion of the show to be dedicated to VR. They'll certainly announce games for it, but I don't expect them to spend a ton of time on it. That's because there are demo stations for it that are going to be available starting this month at Gamestop. That's where PSVR is going to be sold. Not at a trade show.

As weird as this might sound, I could see the Rockstar exclusive game being Bully 2. I remember reading something a long time ago that the Housers brothers wanted to make a sequel, but did not due to sales or sales potential. Perhaps, Sony and Rockstar enter an agreement for that game?

If Knack 2 can get confirmed, then ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!

You want to bet? ;)
Yes.
If they made a deal and they are honoring it is not ridiculous. This wouldn't be a moneyhat type situation.
Why would they make a deal?
Not really.

Microsoft paid $50 million for the GTAIV expansions in 2008. I don't see Sony paying a price that would be much more than that for a full game in 2016.

I have no idea, but supposedly they made they a deal involving L.A. Noire that involved an exclusive game by Rockstar as compensation. Maybe it's time to pay up.

I seem to remember someone on here mentioning that Microsoft actually got the money back long term somehow. Not just from their licence fees but it was basically an upfront loan of some sort but maybe I'm remembering wrong or they were wrong themselves.

Yup, LOL

Sony doesn't even need to do this - they got everything locked. Why spend the money?

If they feel threatened by Scorpio maybe they can do something for next year.

I dunno.

NeoGAF is not a hivemind.
