DX12 primarily offers a performance gain if either
a) you are CPU limited or
b) the DX11 driver fails to take full advantage of the GPU hardware.
The first of those rarely happens in GPU reviews, for good reasons (they use very high-end CPUs in order to not bottleneck the GPU the review is actually about).
The latter happens far more rarely on Nvidia HW since their DX11 driver is a pretty damn impressive piece of software.
In short, you shouldn't expect massive performance improvements out of DX12 on NV, outside of specific situations where a new feature can provide a truly tangible benefit.
Well, I did write an article about it back thenHaha fair enough.
I wish it would have been explained like you did when there was so much buzz about it or maybe I just missed it.
If you think about it, that result is perfectly in line with what I just explained. At lower resolutions you are automatically more CPU-heavy (since the GPU workload shrinks while the CPU workload stays the same).About these results though, it shows improved framerates but only at 1080p can we not expect the same improvements at higher resolutions down the road?
One week until 1080 FTW
Is this any good?

Keeps appearing then disappearing then re appearing, in and out of stock faster than a warehouse thief.
Never heard of the EVGA Gaming line.
Original ETA by a lot of stores. At least around here it got pushed back to 28th and later. Is this confirmed or scuttlebutt?
OCUK and Scan showing 1070 prices now and can be ordered, £400+ so fuck that
god damn it! saw a MSI Gaming X in stock at Webhallen, they even had it in my local store, sold out before I could even get to the page to order...
Currently the "MSI Aero" is in stock at their main warehouse... meh.
I tried all of the cards up on NewEgg. Nothing works. I can't get any of them to ship. They just claim they can't ship it to my location. Guess Wisconsin is such a foreign location.
Wasn't you supposed to get one yesterday?
Nah. None of them let you check out it removes it from cart.
The Seahawk can be pricematched now that I think of it for $100 less.Ugh the price gouge on the MSI Gaming X is crazy. That would be the one I'd get but now I'm think I'm better off getting the 1070 version when prices calm down and then trade up to the 1080 Ti whenever it releases.
Stan G: I have looked into this for you and currently your order is estimated to arrive at our warehouse by 06/25. As soon as we receive it in stock we will ship your order to you, and e-mail you with the tracking information. I apologize for this delay and any inconvenience it may have caused you.
Stan G: yes, and all back orders are expected to be fulfilled by 06/25
I was able to get in an order for the MSI card on NewEgg. Went all the way through.
*EDIT* And just got a cancellation minutes later lol
so of course I get a 'sorry we missed you' notification as soon as I'm 10 minutes away from my house. Didnt' leave it with a friendly neighbour so I just wait until some time tomorrow and try again. Annoying because I could have installed it before the kids are home and tomorrow we'll be doing family stuff so will probably miss it again.

Stick with it. It took me almost an hour to snipe one of the MSI cards. I also got a cancellation and many "removed from cart"s. Eventually, I snagged one though.
They do pricematch. Newegg is listed for $100 cheaperMy local MC has one of the Seahawks in stock. I wonder how long it will last at $850. Makes me wonder what the EVGA Hybrid will cost.
It can no longer be added to cart. For any of the ones that popped up earlier. The grind continues.
Yep. It will go in/out of stock very quickly.
What I did was install the Google Chrome add-on called "Auto Refresh Plus". Have it refresh every x amount of seconds and have it alert you if the words "OUT OF STOCK" no longer appear. Then the race is on.
That was my method anyways.

I've been saving my pennies and convinced myself I was going to get a 1070, but now that I'm actually ready to pull the trigger, I find myself thinking, "what's another $200 to get the best GPU on the market?"
Save me from myself, GAF.
so which is actually the quietest 1080?
OK- the answer you're probably looking for: that Inno Ichill one might be the quietest. I can't find the link, but there was a video in this thread a day or two ago that pitted it against two of the other AIB's (the Strix and either the GB or the MSI) and it seemed to be much quieter under load.
Hydrocopper.
*Ba-dum-dum-ching!!!*
