Why do people even want crash - it was never a top series and if activision are making a new one that trend will continue!
You sure about that?

A Crash game to me is like Little Big Planet. Looks decent and it might review well, but I'll never play it.
I don't get the hype. It seems as it will be better suited as a mobile game in this day and age. Or a PSN game

That's the thing, few want the non-Naughty Dog Crash games. And Activision doesn't have the rights to remake the ND titles.
I don't think this is accurate. The only proof people have provided that Sony has publishing rights to the original games is that 1) They were the original publisher, and 2) they published the games on PSN.

Once in a while, there will be some Crash shitpost like these.
"I don't get the hype.. But I'll never play it"shitpost? Because I don't understand the Crash hype?
As much as I don't really care about Crash, do you guys really want a non-Naughty Dog Crash game? Just for the sake of having a new Crash? Wouldn't it kill you inside if the game sucks?

Not to mention I don't think "Naughty Dog" instantly means a good game either."Non-naughty dog" does not guarantee a sucky game. Budget, time and developer determine that, but simply not being Naughty Dog does not guarantee a shitty game by any means. I'm cautiously optimistic. I'll know what to expect when I see a name.
"I don't get the hype.. But I'll never play it"
Lol
See that makes more sense the way you worded it made it seem as if you didn't play it.Nice word play. Everyone is dying for the game to get announced. Extremely hyped. Would you be this hyped for LBP?
I've played Crash before. I don't see where it fits in todays gaming. What are you expecting from it? Maybe a PSVR Crash game? I just don't see how it's viable as a PS4 game.
I must be missing something
Something something critically acclaimed back in the day something something sold millions something something continues to sell on PSN like hotcakes something something.

Messaging at that Sony press conference was all out of wack. They also said Nioh was a console debut even though every press release for it ever says it's being made "exclusively for PS4." Ni no Kuni II's Japanese YouTube trailer description also lists it as "PS4専用ソフト" (PS4-exclusive software).
To everyone not understanding how so many people could love/want Crash: You should have played it in the 90s. Period.
NNK2 is probably being developed only for PS4 for now but they are free to port it anywhere if they so please. There just isn't a ton of platforms that make sense for announcing right now. It wouldn't sell shit on XB1, NX isn't even announced yet and Steam usually get late ports if at all.
Or they should go download Crash 2 on their PS3/PSP/Vita right now!
Hi. You are correct, that's inaccurate. I haven't really thrown this around except in a post or two when I've been frustrated, but: I used to be a Crash insider and I know for a fact Sony has publishing rights to Crash 1 through Bash. You'll have to take my word for it I guess. I also know something about the Crash license that nobody else knows that would give Sony a lot of leverage. It eats me up inside seeing all the blissfully ignorant posts. But I'm not going to dive into a shallow pool headfirst, so I'm gonna keep mum. Believe me or don't.
This is objectively false. This is one of the few times the word objectively has or will ever be used properly on this forum.
https://blog.eu.playstation.com/201...id=741540787884691456&adbpl=tw&adbpr=36969785So, not much happened this week, huh. Yup. Next week will probably be even quieter. Oh, who are we trying to kid are you as excited about E3 as we are? With the whole industry seemingly at bursting point, this week alone has seen a veritable avalanche of electrifying reveals, and the big show in Los Angeles hasnt even officially started yet.
Our advice? Pull up a seat, tuck a napkin under your chin and dive into this tasty round-up starter before next weeks gargantuan main course is piled onto your plate

Call me crazy, but I've already gone all in on the Crash hype train so yeah, I believe you.
Don't get me wrong, all my Crash insider history is from past developers so I'm not hyping anything that's upcoming, I wouldn't know about it -- but I know things about the license and rights that no other "normal Crash fan" probably does. So it's not very hard for me to see why Activision would grant them a license, or even sell to them, but I understand the skepticism on most people's part. I'm definitely not claiming or expecting them to have done so, but I can see how it could be true.

You say license. I was under the impression that Activision owned the rights to Crash. Is it a different scenario.
Or am I just failing to understand this at a basic level? (I haven't really read up too much on the whole Crash thing)
So. Its looking like I have dinner plans during this press conference and only this one... My most hyped one...
I need to ask you guys a favor. I want to avoid all spoilers so I can watch the conference afterwards and still get the same feeling I would watching it live. So is anyone willing to PM me a link to the full conference following it? I'd really appreciate it. Then I can avoid searching and inevitably getting spoiled.

Activision does, yes. And through mergers, technically the same entity always has -- Universal Interactive owned Crash to start, became Vivendi Universal Games by merging with Vivendi, and then Sierra was merged into THAT company, and then VUGames/Sierra merged into Activision to become Activision Blizzard, which bought itself back out of Vivendi last year, but all the parts that used to be VUGames stayed with Activision Blizzard as they bought the games portion (themselves) out of Vivendi. It's a clusterfuck.
When I said "License" I was saying they could give Sony a license to use Crash and still OWN the IP themselves. Which they obviously did for its use in Uncharted 4, if there hasn't been a sale, and no one has any concrete, verifiable, on-paper reason to believe there has been.

Thank you for this informative post! That makes a lot of sense.
UC4, and subsequently Sony's admission that Activision still owns the Crash rights, really confused me for a while. Especially since UC4 gives no credit to Activision in the credits at all, which struck me as very odd.
Uhh?? What?? It's a platforming game. It can be a $40 game like Ratchet is.
The gameplay aged wonderfully. The simple concept of jumping on enemies and breaking boxes while navigating fun levels isn't something that doesn't work today, it always worked. it's timeless.
Are you guys sure that there are not credits (crash related) at the end of UC4?
