None of the individual graphical features look all that great, but somehow they come together to make a very nice looking game overall.

The CA is painful, though, and there are times when objective markers litter the screen.

It has to be an FMV. Either that, or that screenshot was saved at 80% JPG quality. And its blurry as hell compared to the gameplay shot.

Here's Geralt scowling in his majestic bear armor.

And I dunno.... some scenery.

I think we need more witcher in here.

Sure.

And I gotta say... I like your shots, but we gotta do something about the LOD on those ruins. I'm guessing that's a very low FOV. With wide shots, you almost have to do panos to avoid that :(

I wouldn't mind trying the ReShade though. Are you still using STLM?

While I like the updated Viper armor.... I'm sticking with my bear.

Oh that flaming sword, what mod is that!

Yeah LoD is pretty bad, almost Assassin's creed levels at times... Also they seem to have tuned down armor textures in v1.21. Not really noticable in the in-game camera, but the freecam of course picks it up... especially the ursine mastercrafted armor, the chainmail at the bottom is terrible... like a cloth with a fake chainmail print... Oh well...

That's weird, it looks blurry and soft with artifacts. Maybe my eyes are getting old :P

That's just how it looks. :(

I still can't tell if it looks good or not. It really doesn't look much different than the first game, other than just being larger.

I'm pretty sure that is an FMV. there doesn't seem to be a run-time model of that quality of Faith, and every time she is shown with the in-game camera you can see her hair is much more low-poly.

Jim, what settings are you using for Witcher 3? Are you using the Ultimate Graphics options as well? And if so, what are the settings if I may ask? It's not that important, just wondering.

I stopped using that Ultra grass mod a while back. It overuses the ugly tall grass with cardboard textures, which kinda sucks any time the camera gets close to it. I've just been turning my density up to 6000 and I haven't missed that mod one bit.

Well, I have everything turned up to Ultra. No hairworks until I install the mod that removes it for Geralt.

On top of that, I am using UGOM to increase grass density, "ring size," and grass distance scale.

I have a lot of the post processing options turns off (like AA, CA, vignette). Sharpening is set to low. I'm using ReShade for SMAA. And I switch between a lot of the ULM presets depending on what I'm in the mood for. The default is just way too yellow in Toussiant. Unfortunately most of the other setups mess with the fog in ways that makes the LOD actually look worse.

A screenshot like this would look so much better if the game didn't lose all its details in the distance.

I wonder when GPUs will be strong enough to actually handle that :(

I take it back. Even though the camera can be controlled during the cutscenes, meaning they're not pre-rendered, they do seem to add a few effects to the cutscenes to make them look a bit better. I used Cinematic Tools to get a screenshot of Faith's actual face during cutscenes, and it does look a bit different. I assume they devote her resources to other parts of the game when not in a cutscene?

The missions are pretty 'meh' so far, but the gameplay itself definitely feels like ME.

Really nice to start thread!

jim2point0@: Wow, amazing pics!

It's so funny when male video game artists try to do female faces. Why do they put on so much mascara and eyeliner that she looks like a trashy Texas beauty queen going to a club? Completely inappropriate for the game and art style.
