It's interesting that the Police say all questions relating to the suspect will be for the FBI but they're willing to answer everything else themselves.

We can't tackle gun violence no matter what, because of reasons, but throw in a certain religion? It will almost assuredly be off the table.
The FBI were on site very quickly. The cops from the local police department knew the Feds needed to be involved probably very shortly after they entered the club

I watched the CNN interview. Suspect is "Islamic leaning" and "not from the local area."

This was terror, regardless of who did it.
If it's an Islamic terrorist then the rest of us can keep our guns though because it's his culture and not our ridiculously easy methods of getting guns.
If it wasn't an Islamic terrorist then the rest of us can keep our guns because it's really a mental health issue and I like shooting things.
You see it's a very complicated issue.

I'm not sure how you can conclusively tie someone to an ideology if his body hasn't even been deemed safe yet. They haven't even identified him. Unless he was proclaiming it as he was shooting I guess, but none of the witness accounts say this.

Well yeah. Terror is terror. But my mind immediately went to the international realm.
Sure it was terror. But it's only terrorism when there is a religious or political objective behind it.
The FBI said they dont have a definitive answer, that they were still looking to confirm.

It's weird, one the one hand they sound sure but then the next sentence they say we haven't confirmed identity or status of the guy. It was a lot of back and forth and hedging.
I know cops in my area and DC stick close to big clubs on Friday and Saturday nights. They may have been able to get a few units there in a very short time if that's the case.

I see. If I am not mistaken the sentence I heard said; "We do have some evidence, uh, pointing towards Islamic leaning."
They unfortunately did not specify the evidence, of course they did not say confirmed, but I doubt they'd make such a specific statement with no good reason, at least I hope so.
It sounds like they haven't positively ID'ed the shooter, but are drawing the conclusion based on who they think it is and what they know about him (there might be prior intelligence concerning the individual).
The FBI has confirmed that there are "some" indications it is related to radical Islamic ideology.
They're probably waiting to have more info like names etc..., if they're leaning towards Islamist terrorism they probably have good reasons for it.

Ideally we do not want Islamic terrorists to get guns, but there are almost always methods of attaining firearms illegally.
The fear we have of Islamic terrorism is a hell of a thing really, there have been over 190,000 homicides in the US since the war on terror began, out of which 37 have been related to Islamic extremism..

I'm pretty sure one of the police officials said that one police officer was working at the club (I guess as a side job to earn some extra cash) at the exact time the shooting started. It surprises me that the casualty numbers would be so high in that case, although I guess he would be outgunned.
