That piece of artwork pumped my hype to 80% now. It was like 30% or 40% before. I'm sure by tuesday morning I will be 100%. Freaking Nintendo.

I prefer the descriptor "sometimes misguided" when describing some of Nintendo's decisions. amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis for example. Though amiibo Festival was actually a bit fun when I played it. I imagine with 4 of you and some alcohol involved, it'd be a right laugh
Sometimes misguided is "completely incomprehensible" for me. I've long ago stopped trying to rationalize Nintendo's decisions. They do what they do. Not really anything to get upset about.

And yet, they still manage to shock me and blow away my warped (and generally ultra cynical) expectations. Not having a Digital Event this year was so legitimately shocking and below the nonexistent expectation I had.

I unironically miss the Golden Age Nintendo of the Wii/DS days :c

In terms of software, they are still putting out top notch content barring a couple of exceptions, so yes.

I'm a person who plays games for games, not because the company may have done something right or wrong with hardware.

I see things differently than you and that's fine!

I don't see games as only games, to me the context makes it all the sweeter. Kinda like last year's Sony E3. I don't give a flying damn about Shenmue 3 or The Last Guardian (I HATED Shadow of the Colossus), but it as so exciting seeing them and seeing them live. I am totally okay with companies showing games that won't come out for years if they make a kickass show about it. Which is why Nintendo's decisions of doing Digital Events have bummed me out.

And I haven't been crazy about a lot of Nintendo's recent titles, so you can naturally understand why it's a little more difficult for me to be enthusiastic.

The second badge is definitely the same horse picture, it's just turned counter clockwise, the "different outfit" is Link's right shoulder.

No one knows the sex of that individual.
They sure don't have the nose of the first Link artwork UNLESS IT'S CHILD LINK.

So, Link girl with bandaged breasts?
I think they're just using the concept art they've already used and will show female link as a big reveal. This is the male one, come on.

Wait I haven't been on here, was it already confirmed that that artwork Link isn't a girl?

Or was it some community agreement everyone's sticking to?

Unless there's a source, I think that's a girl.

That is a girl both on the lanyard and in the art riding the horse. A right-handed girl even. For me this pretty much confirms the possibility of choosing male or female for "Link".

The Link on the left and in the leaked art today is obviously a male and different from the girl Link.

They aren't going to release a picture of a female Link to zero fanfare. That alone should tell you it's the same Link in both pictures.

I see no definitive proof that's male or female, come on.

Go with what you want, but it looks like the exact same Link as the bow concept art, and so far, Nintendo only talked about a male Link :p
Not saying it won't change, just that this is the official word for now and he doesn't look that girly (unlike the reveal trailer).

But link is using his right hand to shoot the arrow in the left image.

It's a different piece of art with different lighting and in a different pose. Probably by different artists, too.

Occam's razor.

People are going to mad when they don't show off a Female Link.

Knowing the reaction from Zelda community, this will be the last on the list of controversy, the absence of a female Link, if that's the case. There will be so many things to complain before that. The open world itself will fill in hundreds of pages, as it did already since the reveal. So I wouldn't be too preemptive about this one in particular.

Characters can look different between pieces of art.

People tried to fool themselves into thinking it was reality 2 years ago and got all upset at anyone that tried to say otherwise, so yeah, it's going to piss a lot of people off.
