Xbox One S: 40% smaller, 2TB, 4K for movies/tv, internal PSU, $300

Looking for the price. 2TB and 4k BR is good, smaller site is Excellent (OK was simply too big for me)

Dead Rosina 3,4, quantum break and (hopefully) scalebound could make the deal for me but I am looking for the price
Wait, this isn't confirmed to have 4K blu ray right....?

Just streaming? '4K Video'?

It'd be insane value if it did 4K bluray.

Looks nice...A little reminiscent of PS4’s upright look...Very sleek, 2TB and something for UHDTV folks.

Nice move MS...If price is right, they should definitely pick up some new buyers and some people with the older model trading in.

If I didn't hear frequent reports of high noise levels from others, I honestly would. At this point I am holding out for the PS4K and hoping they take noise levels more into consideration.

The issue seems to be that the PS4 is pretty good at getting dust inside it which insulates components and causes it to heat up. When I cracked mine open and cleaned it out, it went back to whisper quiet even at the most intense of times.

The parts that are shrunk make up like 0.5% of the volume of a console
The biggest space savings come from other components like smaller cooling - heatsink design and fan and smaller power supply required, both of which are enabled by the shrink. It is also why the smaller power supply is now within the box rather than external power brick, so the actual reduction in size is 50-60%.

STOP LEAKING THINGS WHEN I'M TRYING TO WRITE MY BINGO CARD GENERATOR!

Soddit, I'll leave the line in. Enjoy your free space.

It's a technological masterpiece.

It's also loud enough to be heard over my headphones at a decent volume. I'd gladly pick up a revision of the console with a larger fan and better cooling setup. Small is cool... to a point. Which makes me interested to see how this new model performs in terms of heat and noise output compared to the original XB1.

What is HDR? Does the current Xbox One have it?

High Dynamic Range. No the XBone doesn't have it. It's basically for video afficionados, only a handful of really high end 4K TV sets are compatible. I'd guess it's for video playback only and not games.

Edit: 2TB HDD, 4K Playback with HDR? No way this is less than $350. It could even go for $399.

My PS4 is a jet engine. It's quite annoying and to drown it out would have to have my system uncomfortably loud.
I mean really. How loud can those little fans really get that the tv volume can't drown it out 😂😂.. It think ur over exaggerating just a little bit😉

best looking Xbox One system -_-

What is HDR? Does the current Xbox One have it?

Games have had a kind of HDR for years but this is HDR display tech where your TV can have very bright (like dazzlingly bright) and very dark elements in a single scene. It's pretty impressive. It's part of the UHD specification along with 4K video and Rec.2020 (more colours). You need a very recent TV to take advantage of it. I haven't heard anything about it being used in games but I think it could be at some point.

So it is smaller, bigger hdd, build in power brick..so that's it really? I mean i just bought a xbox one and though yeah the power brick is huge i do not see it since it is hidden behind my C.E stuff.

speaking of cooling there was some talk a while ago that Microsoft were partnering with CoolChip

2014 - http://techcrunch.com/2014/12/09/coolchip-technologies-is-redesigning-the-humble-computer-fan/

Apparently I’m not the only one to notice that. Onstage, Sanchez noted that CoolChip has partnered with Cooler Master to bring its technology to market as aftermarket add-ons early next year, and Microsoft consulted with the startup to make quieter fans for the Xbox One games console, as well as an upcoming unannounced Xbox (likely an Xbox One Slim).

Hi everyone! We've been very heads down on getting ready for an imminent product launch *very* *VERY* soon!

something? nothing?

here's a demo -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahgnVrULqUs

Smaller size is a huge plus in my book. Actually pretty interested now.

Is this the new console they've been hyping up or just a slim version or the existing one with 4K? I'm assuming it's both?

I have my PS4 sitting on my desk less than 5 feet away from me and i've never ever been bothered by the thing making noise. You dusted yours?

Sure it spins up the fans a bit when i'm in-game but nowhere near loud. My Xbox 360, PS3 fat, PS3 slim are all far, far louder. I don't get the hyperbole myself about these so-called jet engines.

So no, I am really happy they kept the power brick inside for super neat cable management.

This. It's already damned quiet.

My PS4 is noticeably louder than my Xbox One.

Looks really nice - price is key with this though.

yep, esp with how the perceptions with the Xbox brand is now - even in US.

anything above the current price is DOA. Don't know enough about what the price could/should be with the technology specs, but if they really want it to sell, I would think $250, crazy talk I know.

um. he is not. my old PS4 was like that too. the fan runs very fast and it being small was the reason for it to be so loud. specially the old models.

run any 60 fps game and you will hear the PS4 more than the TV in some cases ( happened to me in DOOM and Overwatch )

the new PS4 version though ( at least mine is, is very quite ). you will have to mute the TV and be like 1 meter away from to able to hear anything .and even then its not loud at all )

I'm thinking it's gonna be $299. Now way this thing costs more than $349, no fucking way. If MS does announce Scorpio tomorrow (which I'm kinda hoping they don't, now that Sony has confirmed PS Neo won't be a thing at e3) they still need to sell Xboxes before the release of Scorpio. An Xbox One S at $299 is a way to continue to do that.

It would be cool but IF it has a UHD blu-ray drive (like ekim says) I can't see it being $299. UHD blu-ray players that haven't even launched yet are coming in at higher prices, some atleast double that price. I could see it maaaybe being a little cheaper than the $400 Samsung one due to the expectation of selling more Xboxes+1game than standalone players though, so maybe $350. Though Samsung might even be taking a small loss as is since they are also trying to push their TVs.

Wow, still that much bigger?
Anyway, the Xbox One should have been like this from the get go.

It could be much less deep, like if you turned it side ways it would be the same size as a PS4.

We are all pretty sure this is real then?

Hopefully Best Buy does one of those rediculous trade in promotions like they did last year (I traded in a PS3 and 3 controllers for like $270 towards a PS4 and they had similar for 360 to Xbox one)

Although I do actually love my white OG model...
