Xbox One S: 40% smaller, 2TB, 4K for movies/tv, internal PSU, $300

I'm not going to be jumping into the Xbox ecosystem, but that is a fantastic value. Definitely recommending the X1S to a couple friends that don't follow the industry as closely and have expressed interest in a Ultra HD player and interest in jumping into current gen.

I will skip the S, I think. No 4KTV just yet and nothing else that really grabs me. Will just stick with my Elite for another year.

Looks good though.

"A special, limited edition launch edition of the Xbox One S will be available in early August with a 2TB hard drive for $399. Two standard versions will be available soon after: a 500GB edition for $299, and 1TB for $349."

Not bad, I would've just had two skus. 500gb is obsolete at this point even though I refuse to update my ps4 hdd lol. I guess you could just uninstall and reinstall.

I thought the Xbox was already reduced to $299, so why the fuss about this one?

The bluray stuff is interesting, but I thought the drive itself is a fairly standard bluray one?

Looks like I'll need to start thinking about a 4k upgrade in the next couple of years. Just tricky finding one to fit in my TV unit - I have a perfectly fitting 50" TV with slim bezel so I couldn't go any bigger.

edit: The HDR stuff is odd. Doesn't that take more bits per pixel and would therefore potentially require more power to generate?

whoa no controller included?
