The presentation and pacing of the conference was pretty good. Unfortunately, very little of the content was interesting to me. The only thing that REALLY got my attention in a positive way was We Happy Few, which is also heading to Steam (Early Access). I can't believe I haven't heard of that game until now.

FFXV's Titan demo wasn't very interesting, but that's OK...I'd already seen enough of the game to sell me on it. (preordered the deluxe edition for PS4 a couple of months ago).

ReCore looked rough...but even if it looked polished, it still looks underwhelming. I have a feeling that game's going to get mediocre-to-bad reviews and sell poorly.

Scalebound...just ugh. It's even worse than what we've seen in the past. The main character is aggravating with all his stupid little quips. I wouldn't mind the MC talking from time to time if he was actually interesting and had good lines, but Scalebound's main character seems uninspired. I can respect Platinum trying their hand at a different genre from what they normally do...but I suspect this game will be a disappointment for many.

With MS announcing Scorpio this early, it'll be interesting to see how Xbox One sales fare between now and holiday 2017. I can see both pros and cons to announcing it now.

the leaks ruined some sorpresies but otherwise we knew about 90% of the games shown today. Still, i am really exited with the direction that microsoft is taking with Xbox.

Great gaming conference. Coming from the TV Kinect event a few years ago with Mattrick, this at least showed MS is trying to get back on track.

6.5/10 Docked points for no Crackdown :( Probably at Gamescom though!

Horizon 3 looked awesome, game of the show for me.

Dead Rising looks great. Not announced as exclusive, maybe that's on the PC side of things?

Sea Of Thieves - Great potential

Final Fantasy looked like clunky shite, as always. Scalebound wasn't much better.

Forgot the rest lol

Oh Scorpio, great stuff. Not convinced all the platforms will be fully compatible. The VR stuff certainly wont be for a start.

6TF 340GB/s is pretty solid though. Probs using GDDR5X then?

So, I'm going all in here, betting my right arm: Sony won't launch NEO this fall.
There is no fucking reason to do so. If they want to hurt MS just wait till fall 2017 and release NEO with equal specs.

Microsoft isn't driving Sony's decisions though. Their own release of VR is. Scorpio is a reaction to Neo.

I have all consoles and a Gaming PC. Microsoft just convinced me i don't need my Xbox anymore. That's my takeaway from this conference. I'm happy that i can play all my games on my PC. I hope they make the Windows Store less shitty until the good games come out.

5/10

As a PC owner "Xbox" is indeed dead to me now.

I'm really amazed that they did it...opened the show with Xbox One S and ended it with Scorpio. This is extremely risky and I expect the sales for the One to even drop more now.
Who in the right mind is going to buy a slim console for 299,-€ when a new system is in the works that will cost 399-499$?

Microsoft announced and killed the slim in the same conference.

Cross-buy sold itself well, but as someone with a PC and a PS4, I'm even less certain of picking up an X1 slim in the interim.

MS was better than EA or Beth by a decent margin, had way more games to show, but still not 'amazing' as such.

All of this. I have a brand new PC with 2 Titans, and now that I know that everything is coming to PC, I have no reason to ever buy an Xbox. The Oculus will plug into it, and that's that.

The 4k Blu-ray player does nothing for me because I'm waiting for the Oppo version that's usually best in class.

The PS4 will still have God of War 4 and the best version of multiplats for at least a year and a half, so I don't have any reason to consider an Xbox purchase.

For the games themselves?

Gears, I'm always down for.
Recore was a let down.
Sea of Thieves = 0 interest.
Scalebound is a wait and see
FFXV is a no from me. Same with Tekken, though I'll still watch JDCR mop the floor with some folks.
Dead Rising 4, same thing.

So kind of strange, they just told me just wait for their games to hit PC.
Personally, I'm only looking forward to God of War 4 at Sony's conference but I hope they do well and impress me.

One of my favorite series, so yea, this is what has my attention tonight.

I'm just speechless you guys are excited about the Scorpio announcement. It was litterly nothing. Just vapor. Just empty speech. They had shots of a 3D render of a GPU and a cooling fan and said in a year and half were going to deliver a new console that is 6 TFLOPS while having a bunch of people in low lighting talk dramatically about preserving the identity of Xbox and the community.

No price
No games
No hardware!!

You guys are drinking the Kool Aid something fierce if thats all it takes for you to get excited.

Hey Mark.

I don't think they killed sales of Xbox one, cause I sure as hell am going to get that slim when it comes out so I can play gears 4 and Forza horizon 3. Those two looked so awesome. I was hoping for criterion games to show their game this E3, but Forza Horizon 3 surpassed my expectations by a mile, and Gears 4 looks amazing, it's in like it didn't even change developers, I love it!

If Sony stick to their word and not show or mention Neo due to having no games, they will be better in my eyes than MS

Pointless Scorpio reveal and slightly desperate. We've heard more officially about Scorpio now than the sodding NX

This is what I'm generally hoping. Show me the games, and show me plenty of them Sony.

Sony has a stacked year so they should focus on whats coming.

ReCore is showing up as $39.99 on xbox. Comhttps://t.co/w3QejZhW6R https://t.co/HNPf8Cg0pk

tbh, it does look more like a budget game. Not that it's bad at all (look at R&C), but now that we've seen gameplay, it obviously doesn't look like a huge AAA project.

Serious question - how did you guys like Forza Horizon 3? It literally made me AWE when I saw it.

Looks AMAZING. And it will be running at 60fps (at least on PC), and will have cross-platform play. Best game of the conference.

It was a pretty good press conference, overall.

I hate how they kept cutting away from the full screen trailers to show us the crowd and a postage stamp sized screen in the background. It seemed worse than it has been in past years.

Pros:

- On schedule and great pacing. Professional through and through
- Great Xbox Live features. Arena, Clubs -- this is the stuff that gets people excited about buying games on your platform!
- Forza Horizon 3 looks like a winner
- Custom controllers look excellent

Cons:

- Most games showed poorly. Gears 4, ReCore, Sea of Thieves, FFXV, Scalebound, General RAAM in KI etc. With the exception of Horizon 3, the games just didn't have any magic to them
- Third-parties unavailable. Sad but not entirely unexpected
- Announcing Scorpio right now makes no marketing sense. Spinning it as "We're announcing it now so devs get to work" is silly. It's not like Microsoft lost their contacts directory. The rumor that Microsoft were caught completely off-guard by the Neo is starting to look real
- No Crackdown 3. What happened?
- VR segment with John Carmack
- Questionable commitment to the Xbox platform. I really really want to know if the Windows 10 team is now calling the shots for everything gaming at Microsoft

Overall: 4/10.

Gwent: Honestly I don't have any interest in another card game at this point and this one didn't look super interesting.

Tekken 7: This looked bad and I think it's funny Tekken vs. SF ended up just being some SF characters in Tekken. The sunglasses on the game dev looked stupid.

I thought everything looked great. Excited for the next year and a half on my Xbox One and then I will maybe upgrade to the Scorpio by mid 2018 and take my games with me. That time frame makes sense to me.

It was... solid. They had games. Games look good. They had new hardware. Hardware looks good.

There was almost no surprises (and I avoided leaks too); it felt extremely safe; and it really just felt like more of the same - which we do enjoy - but nothing that just blew me away. No "mic drop" moments, but a solid line-up of games.

Oh, and the cameraman who kept panning the camera out to a wide shot of the audience when a trailer is being played...WHY. STOP DOING THAT.

Microsoft have been phoning in their E3 conferences for years and this year's was the absolute nadir. You could have predicted almost all of these titles with MS showing no willingness to really branch out and try something new.

They have their 'X-bros' audience and they seem happy to just keep mining that. They talked up their cross platform ecosystem but never took the chance to try and expand what the audience for this expanded segment could be.

Like Ned Flanders' father once said "It's not working, we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas."

3/10. And that's generous.

Microsoft announced and killed the slim in the same conference.

I imagine that the Scorpio is going to be massively overpriced so that they don't 'step on each others toes'. Scorpio will be the 'premium' buy (at least $500 maybe even $550) while the Slim will be the value proposition of the two.

Seriously, I think the Scorpio could bring PS3 levels of consumer 'sticker shock' when it comes out.

I mean seriously if I was interested in buying an Xbox One, knowing the Scorpio was coming in 18 months I definitely would not buy the One before that. I think it is a terrible move.

Agreed. Given that it's 18 months away announcing it now makes no sense to me. I wonder if this is going to be a modern equivalent of the Wang Computer debacle.

I still can't believe how awful that FFXV demo was.

I agree that was a little bit of a cluster. It looked extremely boring to me.

I couldnt watch the conference so is there a summary anywhere?

M$ released a brand new console called xbox one s, gears of war 4, some other games, then announced a brand new console called project scorpia and started talking about specs...6 teraflops etc. Then they talked about generations and what not.

I go in with no expectations. I just want meat and substance. I thought it started strong, and quickly fizzled. Not terrible. Just not good.

I thought it never got good enough to fizzle out. It was DoD for me.

Sony I hope got positive reinforcement from its plan to stick to GAMES, if it does this again and again it will continue to dominate. I really hope they don't announce the Neo. No one wants to feel like they own an obsolete object.

Sea of Thieves might be enough to get me to dip into the Xbox pool...but...meh

It was a fine conference although FF XV and Scalebound; two titles I was looking forward to ended up looking...well...kinda boring/terrible/dumb.

With all the leaks and delays; I'm not really sure what Sony is going to do to top Microsoft however. I wonder if they are scrambling to add in info about the Neo last minute to combat MS's announcement of the Scorpio?

Gears looked nice.
Forza was amazing.
Play anywhere is great.
Dead Rising looks great fun.

I was very bored other than that.

I'm still stunned they have the entire library of Rare IPs and are doing absolutely nothing with them.

Everything looked great?
Look I'm sure everyone has different expectations and what not but does everything always look great to you because there was stuff that really really didn't look great.

Did MS announced any new game at all? State of decade 2?
Some on stage demo is legit meh to bad...Sea of theive look fun but first person killed my hype...
Also, killing traditional generation? Not cool man, fucking sad console future is not for me anymore.

FH3 is the highlight thou, too good!

You must have missed all the new games and IP's they showed.

I'm sure the presentation will be posted to their website later so you can watch it again and see what you missed.
