If Sony doesn't talk about Neo, is this a sign of force or weakness?

Neither, companies don't have teenagers mentality for their operations. at least most of them.

Neo have been in the works for a while, it can not be reactionary to a console that MS will release after a year and a half.

Sucker Punch is not even hinted to be at this years show... I think you are confusing them with Insomniac and their (supposedly) Spiderman game.

Well its been 2 years since their last game and its good time to announce a new game (just a CGI/game engine trailer) which might coming next year as they are US studio and show gameplay at PSX.

I just noticed why MS conference wasn't exciting, they didn't announce a single new game from their studios. This is why I think Sony will win with their press conference.

Am I the only one to think it was stupid of MS to announce the Slim XBone and then another, better XBone? Shouldn't they focus on the slim now and, Idk, next year focus on the Scorpio?

IMO, Sony was smart to not show Neo this E3.

The Scorpio announcement was such a joke. I guess it's good for die hard Xbox fans but that's about it.

MS may as well have said don't bother buying any of our hardware for the next 12 months. I am gobsmacked they'd announce a hardware revision and publically acknowlege its going to be effectively obsolete in just over a year.

Sony just need to lower the price of PS4 to match the S and enjoy their install-base growing massively over the holiday season. So long as NEO is out 6 months ahead of Scorpio and with plenty of support they are still in the stronger position.

On Microsofts behalf?

Sony have no reason to talk about Neo yet. PS4 is still selling great, and Sonys previously revealed first party software etc are as yet to be released. The PS4 is barely out of its infancy yet, the only reason why MS are openly discussing Scorpio so early is because the Xbox One was a clusterfuck since its reveal, they need new hardware in the public consciousness before Sony continues to devour Microsoft's 360 audience.

Sony will show Neo when they're good and ready, what's important now is to show GAMES.

I consider myself a hardcore gamer, but this generation was the first where I didn't buy consoles at launch, and I still haven't purchased a ps4 because I'm still waiting for Sony to deliver a great software lineup, for me, they're still not quite there.

Do I really want to stay up until 4am for Sonys conference? Hmm no, think I'll just watch it in the morning and try n remain spoiler free.

People want stuff now not later it wont do a thing.

Yeah best plan for Neo is get it out ASAP, revel in superiority for a year, and then plan for 2018/2019 to come back with a "PS5".

The longer Sony wait now the more it'll make more sense to match the Scorpio and release next fall. Please no Sony, I want FF15 Neo mode.

The MS conference was very run-of-the-mill. I guess I might have been hoping for a lot more since people kept saying that not everything was leaked and that they still had loads more to show. Not really the case I guess. A solid showing but it was definitely a weaker show than their 2015 presser.

Hoping that Sony brings the goods if not all I'll have for this year's E3 are Zelda and Pokemon (/crosses fingers that /those/ will be gd as well).

Yup. I don't own a One yet and when I saw the slim and the Sea of Thieves footage I was going to go ahead and get the slim in August but now....uh why don't I just wait a year when my purchase won't be obsolete? lol

That Scorpio thread is a dumpster fire. People running around going "GG SONY!" over 6TF and not even realizing the precedence being set by MS. It's like forget the PS2 and Wii existed.

sneaky press fuck hinted on Twitter we may be seeing their Pirate MMO game. Definitely gonna check out their conference now.

I remember that survey making the rounds after Black Flag came out asking if people would be interested in a straight up pirate game without AC. I'd love it, being the captain of a pirate ship was the best part of any AC to me. Looking forward to see what they show of Watch Dogs 2 as well, and I think they might tease AC 2017, but after playing through Unity a couple weeks back AC would have to be a reboot or at least a major overhaul for me to go back to the series personally.

PS4 didn't sell better because it's the most powerful. It sold well because MS literally fucked up. PS4 was also $100 cheaper.

I doubt Sony is "spooked" they've probably known about Scorpio longer than any of us, and neo will be on the market for at least a full year before Scorpio even releases. Don't see how Scorpio will mess up Sony's business model with PS4.

Not really. PS4 sold better because it was cheaper AND more powerful with a superior strategy, better performing multiplatform games, better marketing and more variety. They won 3 of the past 4 generations in dominating fashion.

MS missteps contributed to that, but wasn't the deciding factor.

For Scorpio's market chances, well, we'll see. I'm not sure if you can expect what should be around 60 million people, or even 25% of them to leave an ecosystem for something simply more powerful mid-generation. Should be interesting.

That's why it was actually a smart move for MS to drop this and let the gamers fight online. Doesn't matter that it's 1.5 years away, there will constantly be "lol Neo" posts till it comes out.

Hence why Sony need to get Neo out now ASAP.

Oh for sure! I played the first Assassin Creed and then never bothered with the rest until Black Flag because of the setting and ship stuff interested me. Loved the game, just hated the Assassin stuff so if you remove all that stuff then they've got the perfect game for me.

And if Sony does show Neo, the thread for it won't be any better? It'll be full of the same shit.

Yeah. The fact that the PS4 was more powerful than the XB1 was more of a "cherry on top". Increasing the teraflops 4x isn't going to magically bring Japanese games to the Scorpio.

Ehh they in the best position right now I doubt they care about posts like that.

likely they want to try and discourage people from getting the Neo this year

It's laying the ground work for an entry level Xbox that will eventually be $200 I'm guessing.

Scorpio will be an enthusiast device targeted at the hardcore early adopters.

Sony's plan is to have an entry level current PS4 probably at $250-300 and the Neo as the $400 enthusiast device. MS is going for a bigger jump next year so it'll take longer to get there, whereas Sony will begin that initiative this year.

I'm worried that Sony is going to tone down their conference now that MS did abysmally. Please do not cancel Dreams 2.0 :(

Lol this is really not how these conferences work

And I should think Sony have no interesting in toning anything down considering their performance last year, in which they murder the competition and insisted on feasting on its corpse.

If Sony are gonna go all out then they will.
