The Microsoft conference in general or the Gears showing? I thought both were decent, nothing more. Highly predictable stuff (leaks didn't help). It especially lacked a last minute surprise.

I was mainly interested in your opinion of the gears showing. Across the two E3 demos they've had so far, they've done nothing to wet my appetite, I think it looks very mediocre, but again - I've never played any of them.

I thought their conference was just fine tbh. Sea of Thieves, Horizon, Recore looked good.

Most of what I saw was 2017, not really soon, is it?
And PS4 has a killer lineup for the rest of the year.

well true, but i meant stuff like forza horizon 3, recore, halo wars having concrete dates
and some soonish things like dead rising and among other things i dont conveniently remember offf the top of my head

?? We obviously have to wait for the conference tonight for release dates?

Wth is happenng?
i should've been more clear and indicated that from what we know of past sony games, since a majority of their showings are just year dates "2016" and get delayed

Can we not turn this into a war please?

how is that at all "warish"

you can't tell me that a majority of what sony shows at e3 come out within a timely fashion of a year

i think it says more that you can think of teh few exceptions where it did happen, lbp3, bloodborne because they were the only ones that were not majorly delayed

If Sony has to talk about Neo I'd prefer they do it at the beginning of the conference to address the elephant in the room. Basically talk about the idea behind it and that they'll discuss it more in the future, and then shift and focus on games coming for the PS4 and PSVR which aren't specs on paper. lol

PS4 didn't sell better because it's the most powerful. It sold well because MS literally fucked up. PS4 was also $100 cheaper. .

i said "partially". if you don't think being perceived as the most powerful helped with the enthusiasts and that word of mouth spread then fair enough, we have nothing to discuss

So what if it was only two new games? Every game on stage today, except maybe FFXV and Scalebound, demoed amazingly well. Constantly surprised at how smooth and fun all of it looked.

It's not just about "HOLY SHIT" moments. Games gotta look and play good too.

Wait... i'm sorry, outside of FH3, I don't think ANY game demoed well this morning. Gears 4 looked lackluster (although the graphics looked fantastic). Scalebound, ReCore looked like it was pushed out to die. The game's that should've gotten demoes, like State of Decay 2 or Dead Rising 4, got quick trailers full of gameplay cuts. You're telling me you found that Minecraft demo compelling? They literally gave Minecraft a 5 minute demo. Thats insane.

I know they have to talk about PS VR, but I just hope they dont overdo it. The minecraft section of the MS conference with the VR interaction was so awkward... Showing people playing VR games is just not fun, they should stick to trailers and pre-recorded stuff imo.

Hope to see a new lineup of PS2 HD releases as well as PsOne/PSP support somehow.
Maybe me might see a PS Classic Plus feature, meaning that every month we will get a classic PS game for free on PS+.
That way they will continue supporting Vita and make it playable on PS4 as well.

There is also a chance that we will be seeing movies and TV-series as part of PS+, maybe replacing one or two of the regular games. But that might be problematic in some regions. like Sweden.

I am not understanding this logic. By the time Scorpio launches PS4/Neo sales with be at 60 million MINIMUM, while Xbox sales are stagnating in the US/UK and dead everywhere else.

The only company that has to be worried right now is MS. Scorpio is probably a make or break moment before MS decides to focus only on Windows 10.

Not to disappoint you or anything, but console sales mean nothing in a world of iterative console releases.

Consoles are beginning to matter little and what's beginning to matter are the ecosystems that those consoles represent. Microsoft doesn't really care if you buy an Xbone or a PC, as long as you remain within their ecosystem (Windows/Xbox) and will do anything to give you games "as a service".

Sony is, in that regard, a bit behind, since it doesn't have a tight ecosystem to compete with Steam or Xbox Live and has "leaving barriers" a bit low, compared to Steam or Xbox Live.

If anything, Sony should ally with Valve so they too have an ubiquitous platform and deliver in a "games as a service" world that is coming, wether we like it or not.

Haven't been following the rumors super closely...where did the one for Insomniac and Spiderman stem from?

A member here on GAF. There was lots of speculation about Spider-Man and Sucker Punch but a member chimed in it was Insomniac doing it. A mod checked into him and seemingly verified it.

Don't pretend a majority of people don't watch E3 for those megatons, because they do.
Of course a good game is a good game, but when we see that same game at two or 3 E3s in a row, it starts to get dull, especially considering most people would have decided whether to purchase or not by that time anyway.

Gears of War 4 did not demo well to a lot of people. For a title of that nature, the technology was not impressive in many areas.

The interaction in the middle of the bullet fire was a hilariously poor decision on part of the developers.

It had 'some', but graphics were & still are subjective. Its not stopping 3rd party Xbox games from selling, thats for damn sure. And graphics have never been the sole reason as to why a console has don exceedingly well in any generation past. PS2 vs. Xbox/GC? Wii vs. PS3/360? PS3 vs. 360? It's just not as big a factor as many feel it should be.

Microsoft labeled the Scorpio as the strongest console to date. So I'm guessing they have an idea of what Sony can actually do with Neo and won't be able to exceed it?

You say it as if it's commendable of MS for showing games releasing soon. Problem is they've been showing these same games at last E3 and maybe even earlier, it's just that they're not showing anything new, relying on the same stuff time after time.

What I'm saying is that they (platform holders) should be talking about games that are coming soon. I don't want to hear that you are making a game that's coming in 2-3 years. Just like I didn't think (nor don't think they should have) they would talk about Scorpio. Playing it safe at E3 makes sense is what I'm saying. Let me know what's coming by year end. I wish Sony and MS did that.

I have lots planned to do during the PSVR segment, which will be long and filled with content because it's launching in 4 months.

I mean, you guys are vastly overestimating how long the VR portion will be. It'll be there, but its not something that demoes well. The most we'll get is trailers, particularly trailers for games that are planned to be there at launch this year.

Save the hardware reveal for PSX. I just want to see games, games and more games.

I bet the 1 more thing this year is a new Crash.

Lets be honest. That shirt shawn was wearing last year. That easter egg.. its happening.

Yep. Just drop the games on me, announce Neo later, launch in 2017 and I'll be good to go for upgrading to new systems in 2018.

that's the main problem I see too. They only released Quantum Break till now this year, can't understand people forgetting this "little" detail.

Recore and Gears 4 appear to be underwhelming. At least, FH3 is amazing.

Last year, Halo Wars 2 was announced in Gamescom but they had no announcement since. I expected MS to have so much more to offer this E3. It's clear they are struggling to have more support. They even killed some first party. They don't have enough teams to provide diversity and quantity.

And im ready

Crash Bandicoot and Sony is instantly promoted to Grade B
Crash and Red Dead and Sony is instantly promoted to Grade A

That's just not why people love E3 though. We already know what Sony are releasing at the end of the year, why would you want to see more of that when there's plenty of media out there already? E3 should be about exciting new and fresh ideas and titles in my opinion.

Sony need to mention Neo now, and move their plans to the more powerful option.

People like me, who mainly play 3rd party on console, MS proposing in 2017 things like Fallout 4 VR. That would need 90 FPS for fallout 4.

If Neo uses Jaguar, it would be lucky to do 1080p60 for fallout 4 and will be deader than a dodo.

I don't think that is gonna happen.

This E3 seems the year of no megatons.

What happened last year with Sony dropping the nuclear megaton back to back to a point where the people at the movie theater I was at couldn't fully breathe because they were screaming/cheering so loud/much was a once in a lifetime deal.

It felt like in the past we would get one megaton from each show or atleast one or two for that E3 from some company than last year happened and some people think that's the norm. It's not.

Hell, this E3 I'm not all that invested. I missed all the shows so far. I'm currently waiting for the Ubisoft presentation but honestly I AM NOT A FAN OF UBI and only ever purchase one of their games ever which disappointed the shit out of me so never again. Only reason I'm watching is to see some games.

My hopes for Sony is something I remember some Gaffer's saying last year which is some first party JRPG they're developing to compete with the Final Fantasy brand and to see some previously announced games.

How can something be the strongest to date if it's not existing yet?

The pizza I will eat tomorrow will be the best I have eaten until now.

Again, it was standard Gears stuff. If you're a fan, you'll like it. Most stuff shown at E3 are demos where the developers are playing it safe. The Gears stuff wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary either. It's going to be interesting to see how people react when Sony shows the new God of War showing of the main character killing tons of enemies. It's going to play like the other God of War games, just like Gears 4 is going to play as the others It's not necessarily a bad thing. But obviously you're going to "yawn" if you have never played any of the games in the franchise.
