RIP coding to the metal. 🤓
One has more expensive hardware and is launching later...which one will be chaper? Not rocket science.
that would be nice but lets not kid ourselves. devs wont go back to work on older games unless its easy peasy
One thing I absolutely don't care about at the moment is 4k gaming. I hope it won't hamstring other aspects of visuals. I want better geometry, better effects, better AA, higher FPS, better lighting. I will take all of those a long time before 4k. If most devs just push 4k visuals versus 900p on Xbone then...blah.
RIP coding to the metal.
You don't know the price of either. No one does. Stop spreading bullshit.

I agree.
What if Scorpio launches at $399 and Neo at $349? It's all speculation at this point
Same way, but I feel Rift and Vive support is a good justification for getting a Scorpio.
"I game on PC, I have no interest in an Xbox console."
"Hey cool, I can buy Xbox games on PC now, I have even less than zero interest in an Xbox console."
"Wow, Forza Horizon 3 is great."
"Wow, ReCore is great."
"Wow, Gears 4 is great."
(fast forward a few years)
"Upgrade my video card AGAIN? I don't feel like doing that any more."
"I don't have as much time to tinker with my PC as I used to."
"Maybe I could just buy a console. But which one?"
"...you know? I have this whole library of Xbox games and content already..."
And even if this doesn't happen, they earned 100% more revenue from PC players buying Xbox games than they did before. But it'll happen a few times...mark my words.
They want you in the ecosystem. They want you buying content and building up a library that you won't want to give up. In the end, they may or may not sell you an Xbox console, but it's less likely that you'll grab a PlayStation.
This is the big question. The Xbox One is still the baseline for performance. How are developers going to respond to having to keep around support for that when they have something so much more capable? I don't actually understand what this does for the Xbox CONSOLE brand. I think it actually damages it (not in any strong way). If you're a PC gamer, you really have no incentive to buy an Xbox One.

i actually don't get your common sense here... if one is launching later, despite having more expensive hardware for todays standards it can still come out close to the cheaper speced hardware that comes out more recent...It's called common sense, it's not bullshit, this is all speculation no? Or is it only allowed when it's speculation you like?
Did not watch the MS conference. But after reading that Microsoft announced a Slim Version (300 with 500GB HD) AND the Scoprio I really think that Scorpio will be really expensive. Maybe something between 800 or 999. Otherwise I do not understand why Microsoft will release a Slim version for 300. None will buy that one if Scoprio will cost 499 or 599.
If Sony is clever they will place PS4 Neo between 399 and 499 and the old PS4 around 200.

wtf are you saying exactly? no one knows what they'll be priced at. you're being ridiculous.

Yea I think some of us are forgetting the Neo isnt supposed to be the PS5. The Scorpio for all intents and purposes is probably the XBox Two.
IMO Microsoft is probably ready to jump to their next gen console right now, Sony isnt. Would Sony really be thinking about changing the specs? If Sony waits til they are ready they could one up MS in specs again....then again MS could have a comfortable lead in sales if ppl gravitate to the Scorpio due to specs.
What a time to be alive...
Consider the idea that Microsoft is transitioning (or has been transitioning) from promoting Xbox as a console brand and instead as a gaming platform.
Last year's E3 started this, and this year's E3 really focused on that idea... That Microsoft "doesn't care" if you're buying a game for the Xbox One black box or the Windows 10 black box.
It's a shift in strategy from what we're used to in console gaming, but it might be a logical shift.
God no. The Scorpio will be $399. It's over a year away.
Yeah, it's 18 months away. 6TF could easily be achievable at $399 (hell, maybe less) in 18 months.
COULD. MAYBE.
These are words of speculation. You post like it's all fact. Stop it.
I agree.

Thank goodness... No more throwing everything away and starting again
I'm cool with that. It also seems throwing away your old software and ecosystem is over. I can't play my Afterburner Climax, VF5 etc anymore because I am solely on PS4 now. That seems to be over.
We can go on with PS4 and X1 and get sloppy downports by 2018, as was the case with Ps3 after about 4 years (in hindsight those Battlefield and Crysis console ports were terrible). Or you just upgrade and keep getting decent performance on your console. Old games keep working and chances are they will be boosted.
It's called common sense, it's not bullshit.

Kind of like how AMD just released a $200 GPU with basically those specs when a comparable card was over $500 on the market that day.
I don't see it happening especially right away if the PC versions are less restrictive than they are now on Windows 10 Store than maybe but they have alot to prove and MS has been unable to do that constantly with PC gaming. And even if this doesn't happen, they earned 100% more revenue from PC players buying Xbox games than they did before. Of course. I'm working on the assumption that all things being equal. Specs alone aren't going to sway the average punter. As someone who can only afford one console ( PS4), there's no way I'd jump ship to MS based on specs alone. It's about the games, and it's about how much I've already invested into a platform. SCORPIO specs are great, they really are, but with Neo coming (though possibly less powerful), there's no incentive for me invest in a high end Xbox. Again, this is assuming things remain as they are in terms of software line-up.
On one hand I am excited that MS is going balls to the wall for the new system I mean they really have no other choice. That said though my big concern is what it has always been with MS.
Games.
Who is making games to take advantage of Scorpio? All of their major 1st party is creating titles that will have to scale up for Scorpio. Same goes for 3rd party.
That means at launch your not going to be seeing a lot of stuff that is a significant leap forward from what will be on Neo.
I have no doubt their big plan is for Halo 6 to be ready for the launch of Scorpio and that they are going to bank everything on that but I just don't see Halo pulling people in like they used to. Especially if NEO is also substantially cheaper.
I don't know I want one but its a big gamble for MS. Which honestly is quite exciting.
Please share your insider knowledge. They are both using the same GPU, Neo will drop in price first as it will have been on the market for awhile. People twho think MS can launch a more powerfull system and sell it cheaper are kidding themselves.
Just a bit more...Shit like this cracks me up. It's been corrected 10 times already, but still gets posted.
1070 is 6.5 TFlops at boosted clocks.
1070 is $380 after the FE shit is through
Scorpio is 6 AMD TFlops
New AMD 480 is rumored 5.5 TFlops for $200 and will probably have an overclocked/480X version for $250.
Scorpio comes out a year and a half from now when AMD will most likely have a 6TF closer to $150.
Man if scorpio worked with steam games it'd be an insta buy for me.Any devs that's making games for W10 would be making games for Scorpio. That's all MS first party.
Why would NEO need a spec bump? Release it this year as the most powerful console on the market at $399, making the Xbox S feel like an extremely weaker option. Price cut next year. Then PS5 in 2018/19.

Yeah because neo price won;t ever change right? Why is this so hard to understand, by the tiem Scorpio launches sony will drop the price of Neo as it will have been out awhile.

Exactly, when has releasing the a more powerful console a year after the competition ever yielded the number one sales spot?
The Xbox 360 strategy of getting out first uncontested while being within spitting distance of the competition power-wise is likely still the better strategy.
Funny thing is PS4 is about 40% more powerfull than XBone and Scorpio seams to be around 40% faster than NEO.
One has more expensive hardware and is launching later...which one will be chaper? Not rocket science.
MS can sell Scorpio at a loss, and gain profit on Xbox Ones. It depends on how desirable the weaker consoles will be when these new ones are around.
Not gonna happen.Man if scorpio worked with steam games it'd be an insta buy for me.

This; Average consumers couldn't care less about which system is more powerful; It's about the gaming software.
And coming down to it, it's Sony that's king in that category, in not only 1st party exclusives, but also with Japanese 3rd party exclusives. Whatever the specs of the Neo will be, they'll just be good enough; No need to go overboard just because Microsoft is.
Both will use Polaris from these TFs specs.they are ????
