There is no way that Sony's show is 10x better than MS show. Better? Yeah, I'd say it probably is. 10x? That number screams hyperbole to the point that I can't really take the dude seriously. And I actually like him!

I don't think they have to react - Scorpio was announced really early, and any further talk about future consoles is only going to slow down sales for both manufacturers - Sony has more to lose in this regard. Imo Sony will focus on PS VR coming this Xmas. Talking about Neo would make the messaging much harder (it's already quite a thing to convince people to buy an expensive add-on, let alone a new console in addition to that). Later this year when PS VR is available (or at least available for preorder), they can start advertising PS Neo.
And they shouldn't. MS looked silly announcing hardware 18 months ahead of time without any actual hardware, games, or answers to important questions. Scorprio could be something Sony should worry about, but not this far out.

It's not like there hasn't been a precedent. The ps3 was announced at E3 2005 and released in November of 2006.

Just saying be prepared for the panic if they announce nothing. Most notably incoming clickbait titles suggesting they are delaying it to get up to 6TLOPs. We've already seen instances of that on GAF.

Exactly. Sony wants to unveil and talk about the Neo when they have the content to show what it's all about. They could obviously roll out a bunch of numbers if they wanted to, but that would go against the gaming focused attitude that they've pushed this generation.

Infinite is in my top 10 games of all time.
In my opinion, announcing hardware without showing anything off isn't that great. It's cool that Microsoft is able to push the boundaries with their next console and make it that much better, but without seeing the improvements in gameplay and innovation firsthand, it doesn't mean anything to me. Games rule all. For me, if Sony announced a slew of amazing AAA games, then that's infinitely better than getting a new hardware announcement.

Sony doesn't care and shouldn't care. They're dominating the market and don't have to go all panic mode like MS did today. The 'automatic loss' nonsense is hilarious. The Scorpio will launch in 1 1/2 years. Sony has tons of games and a new console, too. They don't have to announce the Neo today and they shouldn't.

Sony rarely touts PS4 as being the most powerful. Their line they always use is "the best place to play." It doesn't really matter to them if a console coming out in 18 months is more powerful than their current console that is currently beating said competition silly.
