The fallout controller.
Please keep us updated.
This is why I mostly stay inside.

For such a sterile, robot company, Ubi has some real characters in their presentation between the Trials Blood Dragon guys, Grow Home guy, and Cane sword man

Ubisoft's greatest strength was and will always be that they aren't afraid to be weird. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but I 100% prefer it to EA's boring presentations.

Edit: DAYUM Alex got OWNED HARD on Twitter, son!

I know we were getting shit on for saying anything in the livestream chat, but I disagree about the last season of South Park being great. I think it was maybe even a top 5 season.

Everytime someone uses "triggered" in reference to someone who doesn't like the thing they like I know they're a really cool person with good arguments.

Any guesses on the runtime of the PSVR segment for Sony? I'm guessing 20 - 30 minutes.

For a new peripheral they're dropping during the holiday shopping season? I bet half the show is gonna be VR. If not then they're going to have a separate, dedicated VR event.

I love how betrayed Jeff looked after laughing at the South Park opener and then realizing it was a South Park game.

Didn't they all like Stick of Truth? Why the turn?

You can also throw in PC culture and SJW for words/phrases that make me instantly ignore your argument.

It's going to be incredibly hard to show off VR effectively. I wonder how they do it, or if it will just end up like Ubisoft's demonstration.

I'm way late to the party, and just watching the Xbox conference. I find it kind of fuinny that Vinny is wondering what HDR means when the reason is right behind them:

(clamped highlighted for emphasis)

HDR basically means that the video can have a far wider colour gamut. This doesn't just mean "you can have whites that are really bright", it mostly means that the colours just look more vivid. In this example, the bright light behind Jeff actually gets clamped twice across the gradient: there's a band where Blue has maxed out to 1.0f (255), and there's another band where Green also maxes out to 1.0f. On HDR video, and on an HDR display, the blue light wouldn't devolve into a bright teal: it would stay as a very deep, but very bright, blue. I don't think HDR video and displays are exactly the best thing since sliced bread; I think higher framerates and higher video are more valuable and meaningful, but it makes a pretty nice difference in a lot of cases. The way that GB lights their sets would actually look pretty great with that setup.

(re ""you can have whites that are really bright", in some rare cases of shoddy balancing, it does; the Zach Snyder approved re-grading of this scene from Man of Steel was set up so that those flashes were practically blinding, which gave me just one more reason to never give his movies the time of day anymore)

Are there any funny bits in the pre-conference part of the MS video?

Just catching up on it now and want to know whether it's good to go straight to the conference.

Okay so I was at work all day and here are my thoughts on the announcements I managed to catch:

-Customizable xbox controllers are cool!
-MS commitment to PC gaming moving forward actually seems like it's going to be real now. They made it seem like every first party game moving forward will be on both platforms. Now give the PC gamers the options they want and don't screw it up!
-The division DLC seems...whatever.
-Scorpio sounds ridiculously powerful, but you have to think that by the time it launches, PC 4k gaming will be more accessible for around whatever price they launch at. I can't imagine the economics working out any other way.
-I have to watch trailers and stuff, what's worth checking out?

Stuff that caught my eye:

Xbox:
Forza
Recore

Ubisoft:
Grow up
Steep

It was a bad demonstration. There was like, thirty seconds of actual gameplay and the rest of the clip was Matt and Trey doing bad jokes (followed by explaining the bad jokes) and scenes out of the start of the game.

Yikes. SoT was surprisingly great. But I did wonder if the change of studios was going to hurt.

hope they get Phil Spencer on the live show again

need Brad and Jeff to ask all the good questions
