Please be like MM as much as possible in spirit and feel.

I've played through Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Wind Waker all within the last month or so, and Wind Waker brought me the most joy, so I hope the spirit and feel of this new game is mostly like that.

I just realized that no matter what the game is like, between 50-75% of Neogaf will be either disappointed or outraged. For some reason that bums me out.

Heading to bed early, do not want to miss this. What are your guys expectations? They going to plow through a whole dungeon and then some?

Wind Waker is joy in a bottle.

Is the treehouse thing a normal direct or is it a love running thing? I'm going to miss the initial thing as I'm working and would love to watch it unspoiled if possible. Like have a link ready.

It's a long running thing as far as I know. Definitely not a direct they explicitly said there will be no direct this year.

World traversal mechanics, perhaps mini-dungeons that aren't full dungeon level but have have rewards (upgrades, collectibles, etc).

Hyrule Town I hope.

Mostly? I'm getting this funny feeling we're going to see some really great stuff. I hope it's not just endorphins.

WW had by far the best controls and combat mechanics in the series, plus art style. But the interactive, atmosphere and tone of MM is still my favorite by a wide margin.

I wouldn't hold my breath. To be like MM the game would need a robust cast of NPCs, but the lack of visible towns in the leaked artwork has me braced for disappointment.

Hard to say the reveal trailer showed huts and NPCs in the fields. Hopefully we have more proper settlements than just Castle Town like in TP or Skyloft, but also more NPCs living elsewhere in the world too.

After everything that happened yesterday and today, I'm really bummed Nintendo isn't having a Direct this year. I could really go for some lightheartedness after all that hyper violence. I would legitimately enjoy a weird Reggie skit or puppet show right now. Today gave me serious anxiety. At least we're getting Zelda stuff, though. I can't wait to see how it looks and what the major hook is. Does anyone think we'll get a subtitle?

How could we possibly NOT get the subtitle? Zelda is all they have. We're going to get everything they have about the game. The danger is being way overspoiled, not an absence of info. They have to fill almost a full day of streaming with this one game.

We'll know the subtitle. We'll know a lot of the major items. We'll learn everything about the combat. We'll see many major regions of the map. We'll see tons of the first dungeon. We'll see one of the opening cutscenes. We'll see the first full boss, and probably a field boss. We'll meet the major characters. We'll see the (first) villain. We'll get a gist of the theme of the game, and the story of the game.

Tomorrow night, we'll be sitting here like Patrick Stewart lmao.

People who were watching the insane ass-pulling happening as people were analyzing that image.

Don't remind me. Everyone was going bananas when that photo of the fake NX controller was uploaded online. And I'm glad that it's not an actual thing, as that "prototype" looked pretty impractical.

Those days were crazy.

"Nintendo is the company that invented analog sticks. I they think they can pull off not having any buttons, then I believe them."

Shove off with that nonsense, sheesh.

I can't wait to see what's going on in Hyrule this time around--new locales, new (and old) races, what the driving force of the plot will be...this last 11.5 hours will be pretty one-track.

Lemme ask you this, guys, before I head off to bed in 10 minutes. Are you going to judge the Zelda footage tomorrow by the standards of the other games shown at this E3, or by comparison to other Zeldas (3D Zeldas in particular).

Because I forsee different people doing one or the other and that causing massive arguments / differences in opinion.
Especially if there's no voice acting.

Well, it's possible they might just call it The Legend of Zelda

Yeah. A reboot maybe? Since it seems it's the popular thing to do nowadays. Just tonight with God of War for example. I honestly wouldn't mind if the game really ends up being named just The Legend of Zelda.

By other Zelda games. I can't compare to games I've never played.

I pretty much always just compare Zelda games to other Zelda games, except maybe Okami. There aren't really a lot of games that are that similar to Zelda when you get down to it.

Thing is that Zelda is the series least in need of a reboot ever. It's like rebooting final fantasy - they do it every time anyway, so what changes? If you want to make the timeline uncanon just say 'make it so' and it's done. And anyway,
the timeline is uncanon, imo. Load o' barnacles, is what it is.

You won't ever have played Zelda U either. You'd be comparing trailers / gameplay demos / marketing materials for one game to those for another, which is perfectly fair.

Impractical in the sense that the screen not only looked like a big smudge magnet, but a big safety hazard in the making. The shape of the controller & stick placement is fine.

I mean, it depends on which it resembles more. If it's skyrim with a zelda skin that's how i'll compare it. if it shows extensive block pushing, i'll compare it to other zelda games.

I always judge in comparison to other games, and I am a harsh judge. However, I only judge the games I played or are much more familiar with. There's no point being impressed by seeing a game being played to me. So E3 games that aren't playable on the floor are irrelevant to make Zelda comparisons which is playable on the floor.

I'm just going to judge it based on how it makes me feel because that's what Zelda's always been about for me. It's too close to my heart for me to have an unbiased opinion. I'll judge it based on how well it speaks to me in relation to how the others have spoken to me. So I guess, in a sense, I'll be judging it by comparing it to the other Zeldas, but it feels like it's more than that to me.

By whether it looks good and fun to play. The other games at E3 will do their thing. So this is gonna be pretty interesting to see. Zelda isn't really action packed though. Its much more of a puzzle dungeon crawling series so I don't think its gonna show amazing here.
