Lemme ask you this, guys, before I head off to bed in 10 minutes. Are you going to judge the Zelda footage tomorrow by the standards of the other games shown at this E3, or by comparison to other Zeldas (3D Zeldas in particular).

Because I forsee different people doing one or the other and that causing massive arguments / differences in opinion.
Especially if there's no voice acting.

Both, but more so other Zelda games.

No doubt others have done this before, but to get you in the proper mood I've compiled each reveal trailer from every major Zelda game

Tried to look specifically for crowd videos because that's where the hype is. I live for these poor quality, real-as-shit reaction videos.

So this E3 has been kind of a downer and I'm hoping Zelda blows me away. I have no idea how Zelda is going to compete with all the beautiful games showcased today though. Is anyone going to be impressed with Zelda given how good stuff like Horizon looks?

I could use some hope right about now.

OK.

I loved Sony's conference. Loved it. Some great surprises. Super excited about Resident Evil, God of War, etc. As a huge Zelda/Nintendo fan, I was expecting them to not be the king of E3 even with Zelda.

However, in light of all the conferences so far? I still think Zelda's showing could outshine everything I've seen.

Personally, gameplay is all I care about, so it's pretty easy for me to compare games regardless of platform.

The Legend of Zelda 2: Electric Boogaloo
The Legend of Zelda: Tournament Edition
The Legend of Zelda: Hylian Souls
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was terrible

I'm keeping my expectations in-check, but I hope the team behind this game are dead set with rethinking many of the conventions the series is known for. Ryo Nagamatsu being brought on board to compose the soundtrack would make me smile, as he really hit it out of the park with 'Nintendo Land' & 'A Link Between Worlds' respective scores. The mini game theme from the former is such a lovely upbeat tune.

I mean, it depends on which it resembles more. If it's skyrim with a zelda skin that's how i'll compare it. if it shows extensive block pushing, i'll compare it to other zelda games.

Zelda will never not be dungeon focused.

That's why comparisons to skyrim and Horizon today seem weird to me.
I mean, if Zelda was about shooting arrows in vast lands, and hunting, then sure, Horizon would be comparable.

But how??? What can Zelda even do to outshine everything???? Will it actually have player choice and a well developed story??? I keep telling you guys to keep expectations to normal. It will make looking at Zelda easier.

If that happens, it would probably through doing the same things the series has always done, but in new ways. The sense of adventure, unique locations and creatures, stuff like that.

Or maybe it'll just be a crossover with Star Wars. Who knows.

it will most certainly have elements of player choice, and I'm glad you can make a judgement on the quality of narrative development in the curated snippets of games youve seen over the last couple days

Zelda only looks like Zelda. Show me an enviornment of Zelda you will know its Zelda. Show me an enviornment of Horizon, Days gone and God of War I bet money you cant tell the difference.

edit: I fucked up tonighy now im in arguing mode. Lets go guys!

Edit: Those 3 games look great btw, not a detractor

Maybe Zelda needs a nostalgia scene where the gamer can pick up the Ocarina, Majora's Mask, looks at a picture of Twilight Princess Midna and etc. Uncharted 4 did that well. Maybe Zelda can too.

Oh and bring back the owl from Ocarina of Time as a guide.

After everything that happened yesterday and today, I'm really bummed Nintendo isn't having a Direct this year. I could really go for some lightheartedness after all that hyper violence. I would legitimately enjoy a weird Reggie skit or puppet show right now. Today gave me serious anxiety. At least we're getting Zelda stuff, though. I can't wait to see how it looks and what the major hook is. Does anyone think we'll get a subtitle?
Hey you need to relax.. we can still get all of this stuff like skits and shit. Yall need to chillllll

The Legend of Zelda 2: Electric Boogaloo
The Legend of Zelda: Tournament Edition
The Legend of Zelda: Hylian Souls
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was terrible

The Legend of Zelda: Rise of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda: The Zelda Creed
The Legend of Zelda: Zelda City
The Legend of Zelda: Zelda Zone
The Legend of Zelda: Charted Zelda.
The Legend of Zelda: Zelda Pain.

Any other title guys?^_^

As soon as you mentioned the owl his theme song started playing in my head and my mind flashed to the first time you saw him after entering Hyrule Field. It's funny how some things can stick with you.

(For those who don't remember his theme):

Competent and polished gameplay with some creative mechanics is what I'm looking forward to, which has been in dire supply among the AAA titles that have been shown this year. Brandonh83 is right, there's a very good chance Zelda destroys everything shown up to this point.

final sleep before new zelda. how exciting.

tomorrow we see female zelda and voice acting. it should be sweet.

see yall on the other side

I think it's fair to compare it to past Zelda games. However due to games like Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X being apart of Nintendo that's also what it should be compared to. I don't think there is any need to compare it to something like Horizon: Zero Dawn due to the power difference between the Wii U and the PS4 or just at all. Also I doubting that game will be as open as we're being lead to believe. However something like past Zelda games (OoT 3D, MM3D, Skyward Sword, Wind Waker HD, and Twilight Princess HD) and now the Xenoblade series are fair game to use when judging the new Zelda game. Whatever you feel towards XCX it set a standard for what the Wii U can do on the open world front. Same for XC on the Wii compared to Skyward Sword. It showed what a Nintendo owned studio can do. Those games are what Anomua and the Zelda team should be looking to out do. It's what I expect them to out do. XCX existed as a thing within Nintendo before Zelda Wii U/NX very likely took shape. There is no reason it should be less then XCX I feel.

The fact that we know there's going to be a better version of the game releasing for NX makes things interesting.

It doesn't need any of those. It just needs to ne a tight, well designed Zelda game with no gimmicks and that has always been enough to blow people away.

I dunno, I'm probably going to judge it by the standards of presentation from today at least. I really don't need to see a tutorial section or have infantile talking down to me as the game is played being shoved down my throat.

Just show me the goods please.

Have you seen the first Skyward Sword trailer? They basically did just that, only it caused people to cheer for Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess and go "eh" on the game itself.
