He's saying that you can't call it an "x increase" the way you do, and he is right. Goes against all conventions at least. A "2 times increase" would be defined as double the value.

Um does this include the processor flops? Isn't the 6TFLOPS gpu only?
If they upped the CPU by some % it bascially has to fasten the OS and so on.
Also a 2 TB harddrive should have a higher data speed than the 0,5 TB drive.

I wonder if some of this is related to the Kinect port going. Sure you can plug it in via USB, but I remember Microsoft saying there would be a slight performance bump from not using Kinect because it takes dedicated system resources. Either way, I am asking Microsoft for clarification here.

"increase 2 times" is what I showed. You are mistaking with "increase by 2 times".
2 increased once = 4
2 increased twice = 6
2 increased by twice = 4
2 increase by three times = 6

A 347% increase isn't 3.47x.
A 347% increase from 100 is 447. (447-100)/100.
3.47x from 100 is 347.
So, not saying the same thing.
Unless you're making your own math then go for it.

I think this bump already happened last year, I believe Remedy said they used the freed Ressources of Kinect for Quantum Break. So it wouldn't be something new worth to mention

Isn't that a bit exeggerated? I think we'll be fine with our current Xbox One until Scorpio. I for one don't care about 4K movies since my oled doesnt have 4K. Slightly better framerate and HDR? Ok...but my tv doesn't have HDR.

Ah i see, good to know. I'm sure the Scorpio will have HDR too, so i'll just wait for that. I just can't be buying another Xbox One only for that. I need to buy a new TV first, hoping those 4K oleds become affordable before Scorpio arrives.

I thought there would be a slight change, because the existing GPU will need to be changed to support UHD, HDR, HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. Will be interesting to see the specs if they get leaked.

Who's to say what the neo is? Maybe it's just an hardware overhaul for 4K? We just don't know yet as Sony put off announcing it.

My guess is they ditched the esram and went with a similar setup as ps4 with a lower end Polaris because it's cheaper, similar to Sony doing the neo. They had a 7770 before so whatever gpu it has is a lot stronger in the same class if it's Polaris. It could be one of the recently announced lower end gpus.
My other assumption is all games will have dynamic scaling from now on so when played on og xb1 it will run as best it can but when on S it will run maxed. Think halo 5 staying 1080p most of time with distance for half animations gone and less texture pop in. I hope this is the case.

3.47x isn't the same as +347%. These are not the same thing. 4.47x and +374% is.
That and the Sega CD and 32X didn't have game compatibility which annoyed gamers and devs. Devs made multiple games for multiple Sega add-ons -- NBA Jam was on all three for example (Genesis/CD/32X).
That's not going to happen with the Neo/Scorpio thanks to ecosystems and (digital) compatibility.

Keep in mind it's probably an entirely new APU on a smaller process that does make it more efficient. The boost could simply come from the move to a new APU and not be very significant, hence why Microsoft didn't bring it up during the unveiling.

I would be extremely surprised if they took the Jaguar CPU and the existing GPU and ESRAM and paid for them all to be shrunk down to 14nm - remember teh 14 nm is a different process altogether, so each CPU and GPU would be new anyway, and ESRAM I read is not available in 14 nm.
That would be insane, its basically a full redesign of the console silicon with a new CPU, new GPU and Gddr5....basically just make a Neo design that was leaked instead it would cost the same.
If you shrink to 14 nm and redesign for FINFET process, may as well make a 4 TF GPU, it comes for free ! So if it was 14 nm, they would of easily doubled the GPU to > 3 TF and be sure MS would of said something as a 14 nm console would be at least 2 x Ps4 power.
I can only think of 2 things :
1. Maybe it is resources freed from no kinect
2. They have used a fancy new cooler and clocked a little bit higher.
Someone posted a link a few days ago of a new metallic fan which keeps GPU's much cooler - could MS be using it. Edit found it, new super cooler for Xb1 S was mentioned with coolermaster...so MS probably bumped the clock by a percent or 2.

I didn't realise that a console which is still getting all the same support/features/games/updates as it's siblings is what obsolete means these days in terms of consoles.
We won't know until July/August in all likelihood.
I find it difficult to find the actual FLOPs number for these consoles, so may different numbers out there on google, some for the gpu, some for the whole box combined, etc etc.
Anyway, what you have to remember is that although the 360 to XBOne performance jump was larger in %, the wait between 2005 and 2013 was twice as long as the wait for scorpio will be.
6 TFLOPs is probably a bigger deal in 2017 than ~1.3 TFLOPs were in 2013.
You're thinking of eDRAM. It's not the same. SRAM is obviously available on the new node as that's what fabs use as test designs for any new process before going forward with any more complex designs.
Since Sony didn't announce a slim console it's made me think, has there actually been an APU shrink in this Xbox One slim or have Microsoft just designed a better box plus the new bells and whistles?
It's not like foundries are on the same page or would do just the console APUs on the side when they've moved onto other processes.
