Giant Bomb @ E3 2016 | WEED3

I mean I just see it as 'Cartman is a dick' I don't think it's supposed to be satirical at all other than cartman can't help but be offensive.
Its Trey and Matt getting off on how many times they can say coon. They could have called him the raccoon if they weren't trying to do so.

Are they not talking over whatever Nintendo is doing?

I can't find a stream, and it's usually up before the actual thing starts.

Sony has multiple shows a year, so they can afford to make slightly leaner conferences with longer demos.

The only issue I really had with pacing on this one was Days Gone getting a reveal trailer, no one saying anything about it, and then thirty minutes later it is the closer.

Like the initial joke of Cartman being a dick is kind of funny within that show but the repeated use of it just makes the writers as dumb as Cartman.

it definitely kind of illustrated that those kinds of jokes only work within the very narrow scope of "the show" because as soon as the Ubi guy was saying them, I wanted to crawl under a blanket

I'm really excited to hear some staff impressions after a day on the show floor.

Me too. It's usually my favourite part of their E3 stuff. Just them talking about games and their impressions is great.

The night shows get a little too silly and off the rails for me at times. Hopefully they are a little more focused and E3. I don't like it when they get these awesome guests on and it gets off the rails into some random subject. I know some people like this but it's not what I like about the night shows. I want to hear E3 discussion.

Maybe but I still find cartman saying 'I am the coon' in his serious batman voice really funny, it works for me because of the character.

Playing some Nuts & Bolts on the XB1 (via Rare Replay) while waiting for the show to start and man... The game run like crap on XB1... Dunno if it was that bad on 360 but it's almost unplayable at times on XB1.

Shocking, they shit on the best conference.

Don't know why I expected anything different.

When did they shit on anything?

We shouldn't expect that embarrassing GT bullshit from last year to be what is considered excitement. Sometimes you can still enjoy something without acting like a hyperactive 10 year old.

You guys can continue bickering about reactions. I'll be here basking in the glory of royalty free music.

Hard to believe it was just two years ago that they spent about 15 minutes of the conference talking about that Powers show.

Even last year's supposedly legendary show had some pretty massive lulls.

This one was almost completely streamlined. I can't think of a single thing that should have really been cut or shortened.

You must have watched a different conference then. Not one of the conferences were any good. Probably the least exciting E3, imo.

From all the conferences, only two games stood out to me, Tiatanfall 2 and Horizon.

I thought Wombat from the CAGcast had a good perspective on it:

"As presentations go, it was the best presentation. The live orchestra was one thing, but the fact that they had no one come on stage to talk about how long and hard they worked on the game before showing the game.... I know that everyone likes to talk about how hard they work on what they do, I work very hard myself, but no one cares. No one cares. No one cares about what you have to say, they only want to see your game. And Sony got that, and they showed that. And I was impressed, and I appreciated it."

This is pretty much why I thought it was the best conference. Just games games games, and none of the talking that normally makes me hate the Sony conferences. It was exactly how I go into e3 every year hoping they will all be. I was surprised as fuck when I saw the GB reaction to it all. The VR segment was pretty lame though.

They still haven't fixed that? Shame. Digital Foundry highlighted it last year. I'm sure it's not easy to pull off the perfect emulation but stuff like this dampens my excitement over ANY of Microsoft's BC announcements.

They didn't shit on it. They had some grounded critiques and they made very clear on what they felt were the strengths and weaknesses when dealing with the consumer-facing public at large.

Plenty of sugar-addled reaction streams across the internet designed for the fanboi's. It's nice to find one that took a more level-headed approach.

I remember when Jeff said "Sony is so shit, I hate them. Look at Horizon it looks like shit."
Then everybody laughed, high-fived and curb stomped John Drake.

The show was short because they cut out all the dull talk-talk-talk segments and embarassing VR stagedemos. What I think you might be able to fault them for is having no indie showcase, and not having any significant PSN announcements, especially as Xbox looks to be moving forward with some important social features.

If you took out the tedious developer/executive talks from previous years' shows it would have been just as short.

Yeah the lack of an indie showcase was kind of a bummer. I see what you're saying though. But I can't help but think they had more, but something got in the way. Just the way Layden was "ok peace out guys" to a super boring demo. I dunno. Maybe they think that game will be tremendous though. I wasn't interested in another zombie game, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

That being said, Dead Rising looks dope :P

Even though there was a VR sizzle reel of sorts props to the Sony conference for not having an entire portion of the night devoted to an on-stage demo or something. There's a contingent of people excited for PSVR and that's cool and fine but I would have dozed off and that was one of my fears about watching Sony beforehand.

Also the GB has realistic concerns or thoughts about Sony's output that they felt was worth discussing. I dunno where "OF COURSE THEY SHAT ON SONY" comes from, honestly. They're not the GameTrailers crew where they lose their shit, which is fine for them.

But honestly there wasn't a presentation this year that jumped out at me. Sony's might have felt more accessible because there were more reels/demos than talking but every conference for me seemed to have at most one or two games that said "Okay show me more!"

Dead Rising does look dope. That other zombie game (which I legit can't remember the name of) took inspiration from the World War Z film...which I found goofy as hell. Zombies pouring out like liquid was dumb in that film and it looks dumb here. There's legit no reason to ever shoot at the zombies since there's an endless supply of them.

So strange that YT does the DO YOU WANT TO GO TO YOUTUBE LIVE AT E3 thing every time you go to another E3 livestream. I get that they want more eyes on their own stream, but that can`t be a great way to get others to use your service for livestreams...

The impression I got was that they were looking for things to criticize as well, to be honest. If you're coming away being positive about a lot of not most of the individual pieces of this conference, and still think the conference was one of the weakest in the last few years, then I don't really think that's very level headed. Not to mention that being critical in and of itself doesn't necessarily mean that you're very level-headed either.

Then again, I don't think it's very "level-headed" to criticize these things to begin with. They're conferences, who cares. Being critical about this kind of stuff just comes across as being a bummer, in my eye. But yeah, that's just me.
