Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

What's up with the various decade old menu interface? Everything is done by pushing +, pausing the game and navigating the menu with the Dpad and Right Thumbstick.

Look at something like Darksiders 2, which Breath of the Wild sharing a lot of similarities. The Gamepad implementation in Darksiders was basic but useful, the user could quickly tap the items and equipment he wanted to use.

Also you have an open Zelda game like the original but the doodling map implementation of the DS games is not brough back?

Some steps forward some steps back i guess.

Save for the above important omisions, is great to see the Zelda team finally adopting more modern open world conventions and features seen in other games thaught, about time.

My guess is the move to the NX meant completely ignoring the gamepad outside of the gyro. It's unfortunate considering how great the SS interface was. We obviously weren't going to get that but I was hoping for them to at the very least improve on what they did with Wind Waker HD/TP HD. I imagine they scrapped a bunch of stuff for it considering the key item essentially is the gamepad.

Game still looks great but I'd rather have had just the Wii U version without concessions being made for the multi-platform switch.

Na the schedule is updated. GO starts at 5 past and lasts 50 minutes

Really curious for the new IP on 3DS!

so when's paper mario? I don't see it

It's sad that I still want to see this game desptie everything the franchise has put me through lol

edit:

Wait, that new 3DS RPG IP is getting 2 hours?
Wow, I bet it must be near completion. Early 2017 is my guess.

waiting to see paper mario so the little hope I have can finally die

I'm trying a thing where i don't even seee it as the same franchise as 64 and TTYD. So now I'm looking for anything that looks entertaining enough to pick it up for $30 bucks one day, as a standalone pseudo rpg. And not as part of a once great franchise.

that's what I'm going with

45mins of Pokemon Go....are they serious. Christ.

No, we're not doing this again.
Like, seriously, just leave now or hold your peace.

It's like a 8 hour long stream, why wouldn't this game or any game get 45 min???

The thread literally slowed down yesterdat when Zelda was shown again. Why? Because there were more comments complaining while pokemon was on than anything else. That was the peak speed of yesterday's thread. Isn't that something.

That schedule isn't right, guys. It doesn't show Paper Mario at all and we know it will be shown. It's going to be in there somewhere. Box Boy sequel is going to be shown too

Not really. There's a quick access scroll wheel for weapons which is a more recent idea.
How what Nintendo has shown works:

Items managed by the Dpad divided in 3 categories:

-Weapon Group. Long and short range weapons.
-Rune Group.
-Shield group.

Take your left thumb from the stick.
Press Dpad.
Everything pauses.
Move right thumbstick left or right.
Select weapon.

im not sure right now if the consumables are in the + button. Need to check that out.

Now compare that to the Skyward interface or the Wind Waker HD one, the SS one super intuitive and both faster and withouth any interruptions in the gameflow.

Another nice alternative would be not to pause the action and instead slowing it down while you use the selection. They have Witch Time already, why not extend it to that aspect also?

The concession don't make any sense to me at this stage. The game was clearly made with the Gamepad in mind to the point of the key item been basically The Godess Gamepad. A lot of the potential implementations were worked for the Wind Waker already.

Oh I won't be complaining during the stream, but I said my peace for now.
