The proper role of a professional interpreter is to serve as a conduit for the exact words of one person, and nothing more. That means using first-person tense and not participating otherwise in the discussion with the interpreter's own input. Bill Trinen has been a participant in these broadcasts, so it would not be appropriate for him to interpret as well.
