Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

Is DQVII really like 100 hours long? That's what it says on howlongtobeat. I don't have time to put 100 into one game.

The remake is faster than the original, so it shouldn't take anyone 100 hours to complete this version. It is a long game, though. 60 hours is a good estimate for average time on the remake I think.

are you serious right now

edit: lol yeah crediting yourself with inventing "tsundere" should not be a pat on the back, it should be a badge of shame

People always overestimate on How long to beat. Personally I have been through the Ps1 game twice 80 hr first, 70 second playthrough (mainly because knowing the battle system allowed me to lose 10 hours of grinding out better classes second time around)

I'm thinking release is very soon.

Did they rename Orgodemir?

Also do they allow character switching easier than having to go back to the first town and swap inside Maribel's house?

This looks cute. I've been meaning to get into DQ, but from what I've heard 4 or 5 are better entry points for newcomers.

A 40h difference is still huge. What was changed? Was the old version super grindy or something?

This is such an improvement. Do you know if grinding is less required now? I can handle a bit of grinding sometimes, but DQ 2 and DQ6 were sometimes just too much.

This is the best thing to come out of E3.

Just fyi, 4 and 5 are out on IOS and I think they control extremely well. Purists would certainly disagree, but I think it's the best way to play the game.

I wouldn't have said grinding was required in the original. And honestly, you'll end up fighting more in the remake than in the original because the visible enemies are often unavoidable. But the classes were rebalanced so that, on average, they require fewer battles to progress, and battles are extremely fast on the highest speed.

I've never played DQ VII but I would definitely recommend DQ 4 as a starting point. Alternatively there's DQ II on mobile which is also a good starting point.

They're all great games though and easy to recommend to any RPG fan.

To 100% the game you'd need to master every class, each of which takes anywhere from like 100 to 300 battles.

And there were a metric buttload of classes, including monster classes.

edit: Nice, monster classes are still in.
