Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

Visuals are so good but I can't even see myself getting it with all of this Sticker Star garbage (generic toad characters, card battle system). Which is a damn shame.

They need to show something more interesting than just "fill in the colorless spots" which is okay in and of itself.

Nintendo sure knows how to make mediocre graphics look incredible.

My biggest gripe about Sticker Star is the need to collect stickers just to attack. A default attack for jump / hammer would have improved the game greatly, that way you'd only need to collect special stickers for attacks.

Color Splash really does master the paper aesthetic, though.

Speaking as someone with no history with the Paper Mario games, what's the reason for the backlash for this? Not trying to sound incendiary either, just curious.

I really hate that everything seems to be tied to disposables again, but everything else looks righteous. I'll probably give it the benefit of the doubt based on how wonderful the world looks.

Oh boy, I can already see the flames since this is Sticker Star 2.0

I love Sticker Star so I am OK with that but I empathize with people that wanted a Mario RPG with this visuals.

And it seems that battle gives you money and paint.

So far, it looks exactly like I expected. Generic enviroments, only Toad characters. Sticker Star 2. Sad.

I mean, the beach looks almost exactly like the one in Paper Jam.

Graphics are amazing though.

The first two/three games in the series had a nice turn based system in the more traditional sense where you had a hammer/jump attack along with partner special attacks that required unique timings/actions in order to preform. This game and Sticker Star completely scrapped that and made you gather cards/stickers in the over world to use every attack, even your basic ones. But perhaps the worse thing is the fact that the past games, especially Thousand Year Door (the second Paper Mario), had such wonderful partner characters and a wide variety of races/character types. Sticker Star (and this game apparently) decided that it was better to get rid of almost all of those unique races/character types and have almost every character be a stupid fucking generic toad. The writing is still OK, but it definitely has lost a ton of its charm. Plus you don't have partners anymore, which were also a cool part of the combat and interactions from the earlier games.

Looks so cute, I love it and the mechanics seem good and I think that it is a good fit for home console. Sorry guys but I can't judge it negatively just because it isn't like Ttyd
